Scott Embry’s Thursday Narrogin Preview Posted on March 20, 2024March 21, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 CANDLELIGHT SHERRIF should be about ready to break through. He finished second to Who’s Me Daddy at Albany over 1500, second to Rocking Society (heads to the Melvista Stakes next Friday) over 2000 at Pinjarra and now finds himself in a maiden handicap. Has 61kg but Jason Whiting rides Narrogin as well as anyone and he looks like he can be put into the race. MANZOR MAGIC actually drops 1kg going into a maiden handicap after the claim for Chanel Cooper. Narrogin distance races can be tough for young riders to navigate. MEXICAN QUEEN has a set of shades on and is race fit. ZAMBEEZEE GOLD ran a much improved race last start. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – CANDLELIGHT SHERRIF WIN RACE 2 BRAVE SHOT has not been a friend of punters so far in his short career but he’s got great race form for a maiden handicap at Narrogin. Recent trial was sound and he has a level of gate speed which should see him getting across into a half decent spot close handy. Weak race and he’s got some ability. RUBICK DELIGHT has her first start for David Catarino and some of her maiden form from last preparation is more than good enough to make a race of this. PERCUSSION PRINCE has flashed ability from time to time and Stef Vahala’s yard is unstoppable at the minute. LADY DUCATI an improver into a maiden handicap. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – BRAVE SHOT WIN RACE 3 GOOD VIBES finished second to Diablo Lad first-up (now a 3 year old 0MWLY winner an a 60+ Graduation runner-up) and then ran into that same animal last start when leading and fading to be beaten under 2L. Rises up 4kg into a maiden handicap but should nearly bounce on the top here and from there she’s hard to run down. THE GOOD HARV has trialled well for his debut and while he has 59kg to contend with he’s got a gate to work with. DON’T TELL NAN gets in on the minimum here and her form is better than it looks on paper. CAPABLE ANGEL comes through the winner producing Influencing maiden two back. Keep safe. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 10 – 7 Suggested Bet – GOOD VIBES WIN RACE 4 STAR POWER was really well supported in betting at Albany and got the perfect run (leader’s back was the place to be at that meeting). She got out on straightening and was able to eventually get past Sanctions. Looks to get the same run over the same distance. WORK HOME FRONT is getting closer and closer to breaking through. Really well suited to these 46+ races. OUR GIRL BORAM is a Narrogin specialist. Her two runs at this circuit were strong. BERRY BERRY GOOD (somehow) got the photo last start and beat home Work Home Front in the process. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – STAR POWER WIN RACE 5 MANTELLI is not an easy horse to catch and he’s having his 11th run of the preparation dating back to October 2023, however, Aaron Pateman has him going really well and it’s hard to argue with the form through his last start when finishing third behind Boots Like Bruce (winner since) and Ultimate Command (winner since). Looks to get his chance in this. MRS KANGAROO is on the 7 day back-up from another honest effort. She’s a long time C1 but she’s got pace and a barrier. THE ANVIL is always a chance at this level and goes well fresh. BITOVEMU is racing well and covering some kilometres! Numbers: 2 – 9 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – MANTELLI WIN RACE 6 JANNY was allowed to roll in her first 950m trial and got right away from them to win by over 3.5L and then finished a half length off Wuhan Warrior and Dialling in her latest trial. She’s got jump and run ability and even if she’s crossed she’s shown that she can win from that position previously. Looks the one that Grant & Alana Williams have targeted at this meeting for their stable apprentice. REAL SENOR ran well in a 52+ at York first-up an drops back in grade. PRETTY DEVINE has a set of bar plates going on which is far from ideal but she’s well placed back into a 46+. HAFEY comes back in distance but has been there abouts recently. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – JANNY WIN RACE 7 MONEY FOR OLD ROPE was a late scratching at Belmont last Wednesday and finds heads to Narrogin. Meets Do It Right 1kg better for a half length defeat last start in a key form reference race. Gets every chance. DO IT RIGHT was too gritty for them last start. Can go back to back. BE AWESOME drops 2.5kg after the claim, has a series of gear changes (blinkers and tongue tie on) and finds himself leaving the metro area to head to a Narrogin 52+. He’s fit and this is the weakest race he’s seen all prep. DESERT PETARD should be able to roll to the top here. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – MONEY FOR OLD ROPE WIN RACE 8 LUCKY HEART won a C3 1600 at Pinjarra three back and beat home Santa Brae (subsequent winner) in the process. Since then he’s been to a pair of 60+/58+ races and been competitive enough to suggest that coming into a 46+ at Narrogin he would take beating. The last time he was in this grade he finished a narrow second to Money For Old Rope and beat home rival Float Our Boat. Nice race for him. FLOAT OUR BOAT missed out on a run in the Mingenew Cup a fortnight ago but this is a nice race for him regardless. KARLSTAD has been supported in betting on occasion this campaign. Keep safe. SAFFIANO is going along okay. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – LUCKY HEART WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,5,9 2,3,4 2,4,5,6,8 1,2,3,5 Market Market
