Scott Embry’s Thursday Geraldton Preview Posted on January 26, 2022January 27, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 GLASS OFF was 7 weeks between runs on Batavia Sprint day when finishing third behind Skipping Digits and Colour Me Son. Beat home main rival Exquisite Star that day and with Jett Stanley riding meets her 2kg better at the weights as well. Gets her chance here. YES MISS JANE was really well commissioned on debut and ran well enough to suggest that with the experience and extra fitness she can be right in the mix here. EXQUISITE STAR shouldn’t be a maiden too long in Geraldton. Great effort when resuming and Troy Turner sticks. BELLE OF THE NIGHT has always shown bits and pieces. Sean Rains is a gun with tried horses, especially fresh. Numbers: 5 – 8 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – GLASS OFF WIN RACE 2 THUNDER OF GUNS finished fourth behind Burnya To Survive, Our Norman and Sweet Admiration first-up and was only run down late in the next two outings in provincial maiden class. Steele Casey puts the blinkers back on, goes to a Geraldton maiden and Mollie Clark should have no troubles in working her way to the top and dictating terms. The one to run down. EXALTED ROCKSTAR ran well on debut at Albany. Got the blows in the market but finished off strongly late. Brad Rawiller heading to Geraldton on a Thursday a luxury for Team Pearce. If Big Col shows up the wallet opens. THE CHASER went close to pinching a maiden on a few occasions last campaign. MUSQUEAM ran ok on debut in a tougher race than this. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet – THUNDER OF GUNS WIN RACE 3 DARK PEAK was big last start when tramping three deep the trip without cover. Still loomed the winner turning for home and was nabbed late by Take Another Look after they both got past Colour Me Quick. Drops 1kg staying in the same grade and the way she’s hitting the line you would expect that the extra ground is right up her alley. Keep following. CAFÉ NERA is taken up to Geraldton by Rob Gulberti. She’s a staying type of mare who will 100% see out the trip. COLOUR ME QUICK rolls along and makes her own luck in her races. ROCH LEGACY hasn’t been seen for almost a month since getting the better of them late in a mile maiden at Belmont. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – DARK PEAK WIN RACE 4 SWIFT GONDO has her first start for the Dean White yard and looks well placed into a C1 at Geraldton. Raced in C2 and 58+ company at Albany and did finish fourth behind Fangio and God Has Chosen one day at Albany. Fresh last campaign finished third behind Count The Sessions and is capable of taking up a position in running. Nice race for her. WUNDERKIND returns to the stables of Neville Parnham and he utilises the 4kg claim of stable apprentice Luke Campbell. Really honest and consistent type who should go close in a race like this. PASSPORT has been given 7 weeks freshen. Form prior to last start was excellent. ELIMINATE finds a new home with John Reynolds. Keep safe. Numbers: 9 – 6 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – SWIFT GONDO WIN RACE 5 SIGNIFICANT HERO looks exceptionally well placed here. Winner of a 58+ first-up this preparation before running second in the Tabtouch Regional Championships Heat at Geraldton and heading down to Ascot for the final. Freshened and finished only 2.75L off Kenyluck and Son Son in the Batavia Sprint. Ideal gate, Brad Rawiller and looks to have a class edge on rivals. Should go close. TRICKY TRIX hasn’t been seen for 7 weeks but her last two victories suggest she’ll more than measure up here. Taking on trust. FIERY WATER finds a new home in the region and on his day is a tough nut to crack. EBONY MAGI comes back sharply in trip which is the unknown. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – SIGNIFICANT HERO WIN RACE 6 STARTRADE has been the find of the season in Geraldton. Won back to back 70+ assignments before being freshened up for an assault on the Batavia Sprint. Was well supported in betting and jumped $5.50 when finishing third behind Kenyluck and Son Son. That is the obvious form reference for this and with Brad Rawiller jumping aboard he looks the standout on the program. Can measure up in town. MEGAZONE gets in nicely at the weights in this c70+ grade. Troy Turner riding for Ash Maley catches the attention. QUALITY FAIR is a tough old veteran. He’ll be up on speed for a long while. MYCROFT will need to be big from the barrier with the weight. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – STARTRADE WIN RACE 7 CORN COB is still new and still green but is clearly a talented youngster. Always wary with these country 3 year olds that each run might be their last but he showed last start even with the concussion plates going on that he’s going to go through the grades in Geraldton. Gets 4kg on Chix Chatter and provided he gets in from a slightly awkward gate he takes beating again. ROME was an enormous winner last start. He sailed down the outside for a dominant victory. Seems as though Tony Scally has figured him out. CHIX CHATTER did it tough and was still too good for them last start. Big form turnaround. IM A BUSH CHOOK is hitting the line hard. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – CORN COB WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,4,6,9 1,2,4 3 2,4,5 Market Market
