Scott Embry’s Thursday Geraldton Preview Posted on October 1, 2024October 1, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 QUEEN OF HAWKS went around a $2.70 favourite in a 3 year old Plate on debut at Belmont Park and now carries the same weight in a country maiden. She should lead and from there she should be winning. Going to be very short though. LADY TREMAINE finished half a length off Cosmic Eclipse first-up and then was only 2L off First Beach and Mai Aloha in a high rating Bunbury maiden second-up. Just may run into one outside the box. WOTUGOT finished second to Madhi Girl in a 2 year old SWP back in January. HILLSIDE HORACE finished in the money at four of six runs at Geraldton last season. Numbers: 10 – 8 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – QUEEN OF HAWKS WIN RACE 2 STRYKER’S GAL has Troy Turner and most seasons that’s enough to justify tipping them on top at Geraldton! This is a maiden mare who has shown more than enough ability and comes through a very fast run race at Belmont Park. Better suited at 1400m and mapped to get every chance. CRYSTAL ROSE is still a maiden after 21 starts but she hasn’t seen many (any) country maidens in that period. She’s on speed, she’s race fit and she’s really not going to get many better opportunities than this to break through. POLYVANOVA finds this easier than the 3 year old 0MWLY she comes through. FORBIDDEN APPLE a watch back on grass. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 11 – 7 Suggested Bet – STRYKER’S GAL WIN RACE 3 MIFF MUFFERED MOOF finished third in a 58+ behind a highly in form Well Played last season before heading to the Abrohlos Plate and by that sage her preparation had probably come to an end. Wide open race with plenty of chances and going to speculate on Julia Martin having her ready to go fresh. SABINO wasn’t too bad in a C3 at Northam last Thursday and backs up off 7 days. PULL THE TRIGGER broke his maiden here this track/distance back in April. ODIN OMEN has been supported at odds a few times recently and Ash Maley in Geraldton is always popular. Numbers: 5 – 8 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – MIFF MUFFERED MOOF WIN RACE 4 CLEVER COMBAT is the first Adam Durrant runner for the season and he always places these types well. He’s no star but he’s got the ability to win a C1/C2/58+ in the country and thought he went okay last start at Toodyay behind Aiyza (Stakes placed back in her 3 year old filly days). Not a deep race and he’s got some ability. FINANCE LEGEND is first-up without a trial making his WA debut. Lightly raced and can show gate speed. Watch. THE RUSH finished only 2L off Own The Queen back in Feb. DAIYAMONDO may want further. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – CLEVER COMBAT WIN RACE 5 HEZANGELIC has only been fair since resuming, but he might be a different horse with cover. He has raced from the breeze at both starts this campaign and wanted to lay inwards under pressure. This is a bit of a fact finding mission for him. We’ll see where he’s truly at. SAINTLY CITY is speedy and tough. Prior to heading to Carnarvon and racing on the dirt he was going well on the grass at Belmont for Adam Durrant. AUDREY GRACE will need conditions to suit and will need a big ride from PJC. She’ll things to go her way. TORPEDOMAN an X-Factor back onto the grass. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – HEZANGELIC WIN RACE 6 SIMPLE LOGIC won a 0MWLY at Pinjarra back in March and then two starts later finished only a half length off Forest War in a Heat of the Sky Racing Provincial Series. Has no fresh form on paper but this is his first full preparation with Meryl Haley. New home, new horse. ARABIAN RICHES has been a long term regular at the GTC and he always goes well fresh. Don’t discount the old boy. HARMIKA has raced exclusively on a Saturday for a few preparations now. This is the easiest race she has seen in a long while but she tends to get back and she’s got weight on her back. PATCHWORK rarely runs a bad race. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – SIMPLE LOGIC WIN RACE 7 MAJOR MARIO should be ready to break through. He has raced at Geraldton once and came out victorious and as long as Troy Turner gets him away safely from barrier 1 then he should be able to push through into a prominent spot. Like this set up for him. BLAZING TYCOON didn’t appreciate the hustle and bustle of dirt racing. Kept fresh and returning to the grass he’s a big improver and he’s snuck back in grade very nicely here. ROCKSTAR STATUS similarly didn’t show her best on the dirt. She won a 58+ at Gero with 60kg in April and can do it again here. FORTUNE’S LUCK has been up a long time but is racing well. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – MAJOR MARIO WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,4,5,6 1,2,3,4,5,7 1,2,4,5,6 5 Market Market
