Scott Embry’s Thursday Bunbury Preview Posted on December 17, 2025December 17, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 WHITE HOT made her debut in a 3 year old Plate and was only beaten 5.4L by the talented Storm Away. Was a bit slow out, got back and made solid ground over 1000m and now only carries 1kg more in a 3 year old maiden and gets Pike. BELAURA STAR was easy in betting late on debut but realistically should have gone very close to victory. Just couldn’t get a run through at a crucial stages on straightening. FUNKY BOY won a recent 950m Lark Hill trial and that was really the first time in his life to date he had shown much. Watch the market. TIGER TANK was no match for Hurricane Harley last start but prior to that held on well enough behind Storm Away and Conchetta’s Dream. Numbers: 9 – 2 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – WHITE HOT WIN RACE 2 HOLD MY WINE may divide opinions on her first-up run. She was annihilated in betting into $3.50 favourite ahead of Belaura Star (in Race 1) and raced keenly through the early and middle stages before being held up in the home straight. It’s a subjective call watching the replay on how well you do or don’t think he was travelling in the home straight but going to trust the eye and suggest that with the claim he’s more than capable of bouncing back. Interesting to see what the market does with him. SOVEREIGN CRUST finished only 2.8L behind A Summer Fling who had won three straight barrier trials and was sent out favourite on debut in a 3 year old 0MWLY. MORF wasn’t disgraced in his 400m jump out. ELVIRA STAR ran some cheeky races down the straight last prep. Numbers: 4 – 11 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – HOLD MY WINE WIN RACE 3 MACHO ARQUERO dropped back to 1800m last start in a race that was completely dominated on top of the speed. He is back out to 2000m, he has a set of shades attached and he’s drawn to settle a few pairs closer. Think this is the easiest maiden he has seen in recent starts and gets his chance. Lucky start number 21? IRAYCHOUX is the full brother to Weeraechoux who came of age as a 3 year old when stepped out to the staying trips. Solid effort into third behind Awesome Force last start and looks ready for ground now. SAFARI BOY can roll his way to the top and give cheek. GILES beat home Macho Arquero last start and ran a fastest L600 so must be given a chance. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – MACHO ARQUERO WIN RACE 4 RISING FAME was sent out in a C1 1300 last start at Belmont and was only run down in the final stages, beaten under 1L. She drops back into a maiden, she drops 1kg in weight and if a horse like Territory Man was to win a 0MWLY at Ascot on Wednesday (Race 7) it will look like great form. MAGIC CARATS has put in two big runs this campaign. First-up at 20-1 rattled home into second behind Solo Vega on Melb Cup Day and then second-up found himself no better than three deep the trip when still whacking away into third. Going super. WHISKERS HARBOUR ran second to Sentimental Legend this track/distance two back and got slightly held up last start. PROFOUND BENEFIT has had a 2 month freshen up and two barrier trials leading into his return for new stable and owner Brain Kersley. Numbers: 10 – 6 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – RISING FAME WIN RACE 5 PYGMALION beat subsequent 60+ winner Salty Miss in his maiden and then put in three really good runs in defeat in a 0MWLY behind Just Saint James, in a C1 behind Cryptic Joy and then in a 3 year old 0MWLY behind undefeated filly Hot and High. Freshened, shades off, home track, like. RIPPER RUPERT is on the winer of a Kalgoorlie maiden but did run some handy races in the metro / provincial area before heading there. FAVOURITE SONGS was $41 into $13 last start and nearly landed good bets. CLASSIC RULER ran a solid race in a C3 when resuming and sneaks back into a C1. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – PYGMALION WIN RACE 6 ATLANTIS BEACH has had a mid-prep trial and is always in and around the Top 3 when Cliff Green can find a C5/60+/0MWLY for him. He’s been a bit hard to catch but he also always seems to go around eachway. GOD’S GRIN went from falling in a Geraldton maiden to parking three deep the trip and winning a C1. She hasn’t run a bad race in her life, been ultra consistent and looks a real tryer. AWESOME FORCE goes from a maiden to a C5 in one step but looks a 3 year old staying type of the future. SANDFIRE ROSE looks on paper a big chance of rolling to the top here and if that was the case she’d be in front for a long way. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – ATLANTIS BEACH EACHWAY RACE 7 SHOWLAS is proving a very entertaining horse to punt on the eachway. She was beaten at $2.60 first-up in a C3 1300 at Northam and since then has finished third to Fast Harry in a 60+ Grad ($16), third in the Grandstand Cup ($18 into $6.50) and then in a C3 1300 at Ascot last Wednesday ($23 into $7). She is yet to land one but she’s got that lovely front running pattern where you always get a run for your money. Another nice race for her but looks like she’ll have to be straight out this time around. BELTA OF A SONG had a bee in her bonnet at Ascot last start and all things considered did a great job to still finish within 2.5L of Redback Flyer. She’s also always been a W.Pike horse. TAKE A LEAF only has 52.5kg and has had a great first prep. LIEUTENANT DUNBAR nearly went back to back after breaking a long run of outs three starts ago for his patient connections. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 11 – 4 Suggested Bet – SHOWLAS WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,4,6,10,13 3 1,3,4,5,6 1,2 Market Market
