Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on September 18, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 AURAE has really put the writing on the wall at her last two starts and looks poised to break through here. Very thin 1400m maiden and gets in with 2kg less than any other horse in the race with Madi Derrick’s claim. No stars in this but if she reproduces either of her last two she’ll take real beating. MAGIC LADY was brilliant first-up when flashing late. Chris Parnham jumps on and that’s a huge added bonus. DANTORIO has been going well since joining Freddo Brown. PROCEEDS OF CRIME is going well but doesn’t seem to have a turn of acceleration. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – AURAE WIN RACE 2 PROMISSION didn’t fire a solitary shot last start when returning to Kalgoorlie. Willing to forgive based off the first-up assignment when third behind Fiery Water and Enduring Moment because that form is super but the jury is certainly out. ATLANTIC RULER brings alternate form references and intrigue to the race. Expecting Chris Nicoll to be looking for the front on the speedy mare. NO STOPPING ME NOW backs up from last Sunday at York. Needs to improve but gets Mitch Pateman to help. SIZZING AFFAIR is a model of consistency. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – PROMISSION WIN RACE 3 MANHATTAN MONEY was nominated and accepted for a 66+ race at Belmont on Saturday when drawn a perfect alley but the strength of MR Peter Fernie has decided to scratch and save her for another Kalgoorlie assignment. She is low flying at the minute and the way she is going 61kg shouldn’t be worrying her. Versatile mare who can race on or off speed and punters will be leaving it up to the King of Kal to make the right choice. FLASH OF THUNDER brings real X-Factor form. Last start winner in Katherine and before that placed in Darwin. He can hold a position from the draw and even may look to lead them up. Keep safe. HAYAN LAD always a winning chance this grade. BEETHOVEN has had a spell and now his first full preparation with Fernie. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – MANHATTAN MONEY WIN RACE 4 STAADEN looks extremely well placed to score. Was solid first-up when heavily supported in an extremely fast run C1 at Northam before winning second-up in style. Went straight from a C1 into a Graduation 60+ in town and ran third behind reasonably talented staying types in Sugar Cain and Marxian. 2000m back to 1760, back into a C2 and Mitch Pateman on. Could well lead this field and from there he’ll take real running down. BLACK COMET is screaming out for this trip and he’ll flash late. TRAMIKA comes up sharply in trip but probably covered 1760 two starts ago. If the Neverstop Lodge team pull up well after stable rep Seifa’s birthday celebrations there could be a big push on track. CITY STAR has a senior on and is worth consideration. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – STAADEN WIN RACE 5 REGAL COUNSEL returns to Kalgoorlie after being highly competitive in town. Has to lump 62kg but when you consider some of the talented types he has faced in the metro area this preparation (Nerodio, Leading Girl, Lonsdale Lady, Zero Demerits) this looks a great opportunity to salute. Should be stalking the speed midfield with cover and he’ll be coming hard late. MOSCHARD in a similar vein has been good at his past two and draws a gate where he will nearly follow Regal Counsel in the run. Love the appointment of Chris Parnham. MAGNIFORCE won the Coolgardie Sprint in style. WATTOS FURY finished outside the top 4 for the first time since in years at his most recent. He’ll bounce back. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – REGAL COUNSEL WIN RACE 6 HERRON SAND hasn’t accepted in a race for 6 weeks with trainer Jeeps Thomas reporting the mare was stressed and drained in a recent interview. Always runs a race on the fresh side (fourth to Baron Bostock and Essential Spice off 41 days, second to Mr Genoa off 27 days and a last start winner off 21 days) so no issue with the spacing. Draws a lovely gate to enjoy an identical run to last start and she can win again. NORD AVENIR has been freshened up and looks a brilliant pick up ride for travelling apprentice Snaggers Sardelic. VICTORY SHOT blew the start at her most recent and threw away any winning chances. MOORUMBINE is honest and consistent. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – HERRON SAND WIN RACE 7 DIVINE SHADOW was 50 days between runs when returning to the races in the Coolgardie Cup. He was plunged in betting ($21 into $5) and ran out of his skin in a fast finishing third behind Western Temple and Friar Fox. He is a proven stayer and he can race over the speed or just behind the speed here. Looks a wonderful race for him on the minimum and should be contesting the finish. WESTERN TEMPLE has turned a corner and is in career best form. Meets all of his Coolgardie Cup rivals on level weights except Missile Launch. Has to be hard to beat again with even luck. IHTSAHYMN is arguably the most popular horse in WA and with the right run the champ can give this a shake. If he gets up the crowd will make that much noise Wayne Goldsworthy will hear it. MISSILE LAUNCH is better suited at the weights and better drawn. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – DIVINE SHADOW EACHWAY RACE 8 STARALIGN is drawn in the carpark but this is a full field of 16 and there is guaranteed to be a three-deep train for the entire race and probably a four and five wide train from the 600. If Kyra Yuill can get him into the moving line then this is a nice race for him. Should be eachway the field and he appeals as much as any. UNBREAKABLE rises 9kg on his last start effort but Peter Hall rides him better than anyone. Keep safe at a price. SLUICE BOX wasn’t suited last start and prior to that ran second in a Tatts Cup. MAGIC WILL REIGN much like Staralign will need a peach of a ride but is in form. Numbers: 9 – 3 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – STARALIGN EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,3 1,4,5 1,2,3,5,6,10 2,3,4,6,8,9,11 Market Market
