Scott Embry’s Sunday Albany Preview Posted on January 10, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 REDMILL comes into this race third up off the back of two relatively disappointing performances. The step up in trip looks up his alley, he can race on the speed and Kyra Yuill is flying. He could get under the guard and go well at a price. BALDERDASH is another who makes the trip down from the provincial area to the country. Has been building this prep. MISS PINS looked the winner everywhere but the post last start. AYASHA has a gear change, her runs have been fairly good. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 10 – 11 Suggested Bet – REDMILL WIN Race 2 SOWAR was held up at crucial stages on a number of occasions after racing with absolutely no luck first-up at Mt Barker. The effort had merit and from the inside draw he should not encounter the same bad luck. Forgiving. EURASIA was a shade disappointing first-up off the back of a solid trial and some good form in the debut preparation. BLACK MISSILE has been knocking on the door the whole prep. DOLLY’S DREAM was a big run at her Paul Hunter debut. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – SOWAR WIN Race 3 WHAT ABOUT MOSES is extremely well placed in to an Albany C2. Last preparation was enormous first-up when second to Lookout in a Saturday race at Belmont Park and followed it up with a tough fourth in town. Trialed well, drawn well, looks hard to beat. DYNAMITE BAY has really hit form. Ran the best closing sections two starts ago and duly saluted last start. Big danger. ROUND THE POINT doesn’t do anything wrong in his races and will come out running. RAGING ROCKET caught the eye fresh. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – WHAT ABOUT MOSES WIN Race 4 SHESAPOCKET ROCKET was only beaten 1.5L by stablemate and impressive mare Tinto Belle at her most recent after leading. She is drawn awkwardly and does have some weight to lump but she looks right in it. DEMERITISE won well last start and Brodie Kirby looks to have stuck after riding Deangles at Bunbury. DEANGLES was a solid return to racing first-up. SWANKY LASS is a 1000m horse drawn to sit right over the speed. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – SHESAPOCKET ROCKET WIN Race 5 WAR CLASS has been a little disappointing at his last two starts but in fairness has not had the best of luck on either occasion. Winner four starts back in a very similar race to this. Just needs to get into the moving line to be in the finish. RECAPITULATE has the tactical speed to overcome an awkward draw on paper. Is very consistent and a mile is right up her alley. AGROUND almost caused a boilover last start and can be in the mix again. CLEO’S AFTERPARTY can be hard to catch but on her day has ability. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – WAR CLASS WIN Race 6 AWESOME AS was dropped back to an unsuitable 1100m race last start and she was powering through the line. Beaten over 6L at 20-1 but the run was excellent all things considered. Back to a mile, drawn to sit one out and one back. This could be the day that Ben Paterson rides an Albany winner. IONYX has always shown his fair share of ability but has been a bit of a difficult horse to ride. Penny looks to be dropping. WAR JEUNE is hard to get past if he gets his own way in front. LORD KRONOS is racing well below his best but 58+ grade suits. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – AWESOME AS EACHWAY Race 7 WAR KSAR will get back from the gate but Brodie Kirby is riding particularly well for Steve Wolfe and the horse can sustain a run. Has been building toward a staying victory and this looks a suitable race. CLASSIC JACK doesn’t run a bad race and once he hits form he holds it. Drawn to do no work and clearly the one to beat. PATCHIRAC has been consistent since stepping out over these middle distances. MASS EFFECT always a winning chance. Wide open race. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – WAR KSAR EACHWAY Race 8 FREE TRADE resumes and looks the real deal. He has raced on speed, he has raced from off speed. Chris Parnham has options from the gate and even though he is drawn 12 of 14 and lumps 59kg he looks to have a distinct class edge on these. Trialed like a proper horse and looks a special. BEAUTIFUL MIND comes out of Fillies and Mares company. She draws a gate and can show gate speed. Tactical advantage over Free Trade but will that be enough? FREO is a new comer to the region and on his day has a big turn of acceleration. BARAKI BEATS jumps and runs and will try to pinch it. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – FREE TRADE WIN Race 9 LIDO BEACH is drawn a shade awkward and really was a little below par last start when afforded every chance by Laqdar Ramoly. Mitchell Pateman into the saddle who has ridden him to victory previously and from the wide draw can march forward. APOLLO draws soft and stalks the speed. Resumed with a strong second. SAX ON QUE gets back but is undeniably talented. Possesses a big sprint. TRAMONTANE is an X-Factor horse in the field. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 7 – 15 Suggested Bet – LIDO BEACH WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 4,5,6,7,8 3,4,5,7,8,9,15 2 4,6,7,8,15 Market Market
