Scott Embry’s Saturday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on April 11, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 TWIST OF GOLD, EDWARDS CHOICE and WANNA CRACKER gives Peter Fernie a three pronged attack heading into this 1100m maiden. WANNA CRACKER raced at the opening meeting when second behind Way To Go Go, beating home a luckless Dublin Red, and with the race fitness on his side he could be the way to go. TWIST OF GOLD finished second to Just So Sassy and Born and Bread at the end of last campaign and is quick. EDWARDS CHOICE has promised to win a maiden for a while now. FLYING THE FLAG next best. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – WANNA CRACKER WIN RACE 2 TREASURED QUEEN had her first start for Peter Fernie when leading and winning a 58+ 1100. That race was run 5L faster than average so there’s no reason to suggest that she won’t be leading and winning again. Same grade and only rises half a kilo because of the addition of High Pressure to the line-up. Straight to the front and run them ragged. HIGH PRESSURE had a wonderful end to the season and turned into a really tough and versatile type. First-up no trial, obvious danger. TOTAL LOCKDOWN is yet to recapture his best. RED CADILLAC wants further. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – TREASURED QUEEN WIN RACE 3 DUBLIN RED was backed from $3.50 into $1.34 at the opening meeting at Kalgoorlie and punters were left licking their wounds after nothing went right. Stewards Report reads “Brushed the inside running rail and shifted outwards abruptly and bumped severely unbalancing its rider who lost the use of his off-side stirrup iron and despite the riders efforts to regain it he was unable to placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race. Rider kicked his foot out of his near side stirrup iron on straightening in an attempt to maintain his balance when riding the filly along.” Somehow only beaten a neck. STYLE DIVA is on debut and looked sound in her trial. BOUTIQUE SESSION ran well last start. NO PLASTIC next best. Numbers: 5 – 8 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – DUBLIN RED WIN RACE 4 PRETTY DEVINE and FLEUR DELACOUR are both last start winners and both look well suited in this 58+ 1400. Going to side up with FLEUR DELACOUR who was backed off the map at the opening meeting at Kalgoorlie, found trouble at stages before straightening but then powered away from them late. With Beau Talk and Tallangatta both winning on Wednesday it means that Chris Willis’ last four runners are all winners. PRETTY DEVINE can stay out of trouble rolling to the top. IT’S A LANCE ran well first-up considering he’ll get ground. CHANG MAN found the line fresh. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – FLEUR DELACOUR WIN RACE 5 HIDDEN RUBY ran second behind stablemate Treasured Star first-up in a 58+ 1100 which was run 5L faster than average. Drops back in grade into a C2 and that means she’ll likely be pretty popular with punters regardless of the fact she’s drawn awkwardly in barrier 8 of 8. Look set for a good prep. TAKSHAKA has 62kg to lump but was once 2 from 2 undefeated. First-up no trial off 482 days is an ask. BELLES FANTASY won well last start and can go on with it. LUCKY SUE has her first start for Nick Thomas and should be a nice horse for the region. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – HIDDEN RUBY WIN RACE 6 TALK IT UP won four races last preparation (58+ 1200, 2x 70+ 1100 and 70+ 1200). He goes well fresh, he races brilliantly at Kalgoorlie and he looks well suited in this after the claim for ZJP. Thinking he can sit just outside of the stablemate in Time Scale and get past her half way up the straight. TIME SCALE comes on second-up. Was only found wanting late fresh. NODUSTONEME has turned back the clock and run second at his last three outings. Going super. PRIZE PURSUIT seems to really like Kal and can show a good turn of foot on his day. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – TALK IT UP WIN RACE 7 BETTER THAN EPIC ran a fast finishing second at Esperance behind Blue Can Talk and then followed it up with a solid third behind Belles Fantasy and Rebel Squaw at the opening meeting in Kalgoorlie. Has been slowly away at both runs which is a concern, however, if he can step cleaner with the senior on then he looks to have found another winnable race. TALKABOUTYOU continues to loom into it but just can’t quite pinch one. RIGHT TO SILENCE was $3.50 into $1.35 last start when winning soft. Can measure up. ARCADIA JEWEL improves for the run. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 10 – 2 Suggested Bet – BETTER THAN EPIC WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,4,7 1,2,3,5 1,4,7 4,7,10 Market Market
