Scott Embry’s Saturday Geraldton Preview Posted on April 25, 2024April 25, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DIXIE PRINCESS was beaten 3L by Platinum Shot in a C1 only four starts back and the runs since have been honest. Last start was 2.5L off Make Mine Super (subsequent winner), Powerpop and Speedy Nova (subsequent winner). Looks the right form and she can lead this event. Should be in front for a long way. PRINSESSA ANJA has been there abouts on occasion throughout her career. Gets every chance from the draw. PRIZED BENEFIT has her first start in WA for noted fresh yard Sean Rains. Respect. GINGER JIVE met with strong backing last start and wasn’t that far off them. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – DIXIE PRINCESS WIN RACE 2 STRUCK BY LUCK lead for a large portion of the race last start over 1600m behind Mystery Bullet. Has to turn the tables on Le Grand Jeu who ran past him in the concluding stages, however, they come back to 1400m and he looks like getting things his own way in front. Worth another go. LE GRAND JEU beat him home last start but at this stage of the campaign might need the 1600. Can sustain a run though. LIPS DON’T LIE was popular last start after a luckless run at her WA debut at Ascot in a winner producing race. Had every chance as a beaten favourite. Further might help? BLATANT DISARRAY next best. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet – STRUCK BY LUCK WIN RACE 3 HAMMARMILL found her feet last start and was really impressive winning with 60kg from a long way off them. She’s more than capable of going back to back and drops 6kg coming back up in grade. She’ll be understandably popular with the big weight drop now that she’s found her old form again. CLASSIC ROGUE resumed at Ascot in a 72+ 1200 last preparation and was beaten 2.7L behind Brooklyn Pier, Street Parade, Above The Peg and Cheval De Vaga. Liked his trial behind Ginger Baker and think this is nice placement. PATCHWORK can bounce back after a couple of below par performances (by her lofty standards). ARABIAN RICHES leads and controls. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – HAMMARMILL WIN RACE 4 BUTTERFLY ROCK drops out of the 58+ behind Hammarmill, Denzoe and Well Played. She’s capable of carrying the weight, she’s rock hard fit and she’s as honest and tough as they come. From the draw gets every chance and sneaks back into a C2. TRADED CROWN is bursting to win a race. It took a very much in form Bayhara to run him down last start over 1600m and if he can step cleanly here and use the gate coming back to 1400m he should be just about ready to win another race. Knocking on the door. MIFF MUFFERED MOOF has enjoyed a great first preparation. LIBERTY DAME maps well. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – BUTTERFLY ROCK WIN RACE 5 QUEEN TIFFANY ran a fast finishing second in a 58+ 1213 three starts back behind Sorais beating home Spirit Man. Since then has drawn barrier 14 of 14 and barrier 11 of 11 – the biggest difference for her here is that she’s drawn to get all the favours for once. She’s been hitting the line from impossible positions recently and this time around shouldn’t be that far off them. IMA WILD GIRL finished second at Narrogin fresh and should appreciate an extra 100m. Looks the big danger. RAGING BEAUTY can give cheek in front. HEYFIELD BOOMER finds this easier than last start. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – QUEEN TIFFANY WIN RACE 6 BAYHARA is coming up sharply in grade but it’s hard to ignore the way that she’s unleashing such a powerful L600. Last time she raced Rockstar Status there was half a length between them and she actually meets her half a kilo worse for being beaten – but she’s giving every indication she’ll get ground. ROCKSTAR STATUS is in her first preparation for new trainer/owner Kevin Mahoney and has had a wonderful time of it. She’s had 6 starts for 4 victories from 1190m to 1600m and now she tackles 1900m for the first time. The distance rise and the 60kg impost again are the sticking points but she’s going super. MYSTICAL MAN finds this much more to his liking. HONORFIC is a proven Midwest stayer. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – BAYHARA WIN RACE 7 WELL PLAYED won three on the bounce (C2 1200, 58+ 1600, 58+ 1400) before being gunned down last start in the concluding stages. Opinions will be divided – was it an end of prep run and she’s had enough? Or, back to 1200m and drawn to get all the favours she’s worth going again? In Albert Bowtell we trust. FIRST CONTACT got the job done at her second outing for Malcolm Mackenzie and drops half a kilo. MAKE MINE SUPER has won his last two in style and measures up in this grade. PRETTY DEVINE finds a nice race as a jump and run type. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – WELL PLAYED WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3,4,6,7,8 2,4 1,2,3,5,6,8 1,4,5,8 Market Market
