Scott Embry’s Saturday Geraldton Preview Posted on November 16, 2023November 16, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 HILLSIDE HORACE went under at odds on last start when looming into the race but unable to peg back the gap on the leaders. Has to turn the tables on Special Plan here but if he can return to the level that saw him finish second to Major Mario he’ll be hard to hold out. SPECIAL PLAN beat him home last start when Rosie Mahony was able to dictate terms to them out in front in a controlled speed (first 800 = 2L slower than average). Knocking on the door. IHTSAKING has only had one trial and that was over 950m at Lark Hill. Only beaten 2L. BIG BONED BAZ another on debut who has no convictions and hasn’t been too bad at Belmont trials. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 10 – 6 Suggested Bet – HILLSIDE HORACE WIN RACE 2 SIRIUS STORM is on debut off the back of a 950m Lark Hill trial win. This is a Sirius (see what I did there) family being the half-brother to Superstorm, Cosmic Storm, Royal Command, Mikimoto and Galactic Storm. From the favourable draw and with no weight on his back after the ZJP claim he should go close on debut. HOLY SPY is a career maiden and while he’s promising to win a race he just continues to find one better. KINKY BOOTS finished third behind Where’s My Lunch and Holy Spy first-up over 1200m. Can again park up over the speed and clearly there’s not much between them. ON THE MARK trialled well at Geraldton. Numbers: 10 – 1 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – SIRIUS STORM WIN RACE 3 KAZKAZI hails from the strike rate stable of Jordan Rolfe. Between Desennae and Toni’s Spirit over the last 90 days Rolfe has produced 24 runners for 7 winners at 29% SR and 70% POT. KAZKAZI isn’t an easy horse to follow or to catch but these country ratings races over a distance really suit him. POWERFUL FORECE similarly is really well placed by Cliff Green and if Ava Catarino can find the front and use her claim he’ll take running down. SOCIAL IMPACT really caught the eye 6 days ago at York. KOLCHINO is going alright. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – KAZKAZI WIN RACE 4 JURUENA GOLD is polarising. He has only won 1 race from 14 outings but he’s run some really good races in defeat including finishing a narrow second to Speed Bubble last start. He settled rearwards in a race where the first 800m was run 13L slower than average. Those backmarkers (himself included) were impossible from back there the way the race was run. Forgive (one more time). NEEDS TIME is trying hard and can park right up on the speed. WHERE’S MY LUNCH was an impressive maiden win last start. NIPPA WHISKEY could come out running and Wayne Davis tends to let them roll. Numbers: 3 – 9 – 4 – 12 Suggested Bet – JURUENA GOLD WIN RACE 5 ALBERT comes back 400m to the 1200, drops 1.5kg and looks one of the main fancies. Prior to last start where nothing really went right for him he had won three races on the bounce and then run second to a highly in form Patchwork. Looks a great chance for him to bounce straight back. LUCKEE FLRAN drops a whopping 7kg after the claim for ZJP and that could make a big difference. He’s ready to win. SET THE SCENE and BRISANCE both bring a bit of unknown to the race. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – ALBERT WIN RACE 6 ISOLA BAY returned a winner 22 days ago in an 1100m 70+ at Geraldton under CJP. Swapping the brothers around means that Isola Bay actually drops 1.5kg and on a day where Zeph has a big book of rides for an in form yard he could (hopefully) be full of confidence by this stage of the day. Right race for him. ARABIAN RICHES is an 8 ear old who returned well when winning fresh. He should nearly lead this. FALSE STATEMENT has dropped a stack of points over the last 12 months. Keep safe. CHIX CHATTER is going really well and maps a treat. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – ISOLA BAY WIN RACE 7 ROCKARIA is one of Tom Wolfe’s travelling gallopers and looks to have lobbed a really winnable race. Has been competitive in metro and provincial C1 events and now finds a country C1 with only an extra half kilo. 1200 the only nag. THE SLAP made his WA debut in a maiden when winning by a length and then finished fourth behind Russian Sniper, Peppi Grove and Luckee Floran. This is a similar type of assignment and he should run well. PEPPI GROVE was massive in that same race. FIRST CONTACT can come out running to offset the wide gate. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 12 – 5 Suggested Bet – ROCKARIA WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 3,4,9 2,6 5,6,7,8 1,4,5,8,12 Market Market
