Scott Embry’s Saturday Esperance Preview Posted on November 20, 2020November 20, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BIG FISH is another edition of the wonderful producing family that is Red Fish Blue Fish. N debut in a 2 year old midweeker ran 7th but was only beaten 2.5L behind the likes of Dad’s Bigheaded and Kallaroo. Nothing went right at start number two and you can always forgive youngsters beaten a space. MR Peter Fernie is a genius of getting horses up first-up no trial so siding with the Big Fish. AURAE has become increasingly frustrating for punters and adorable for bookmakers. Wins one soon but has had her chances. KENNY THE KING an improver at a price, even though he has been beaten long margins. RUSTY SPIRIT finds a new home and brings arguably the strongest form lines. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – BIG FISH WIN RACE 2 ABU DHABI is flying for Jo Leeson. He is an old campaigner and typically only gets better and better into the long campaigns. Comes down to Esperance where he won last year’s sprint and after the claim for Hannah Fitzgerald gets in with a luxurious 57kg. ANOTHER DEMON is a talented sprinter on his day and from the inside gate he should enjoy the run of the race. SCOTTY TOO HOTTY has gone through the grades for Debbie Warnes over the seasons and he’ll be winning more. ALI BARBER might be caught deep, makes it tough from there. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – ABU DHABI WIN RACE 3 GOD’S BLUE SKYE looked a completely different horse at the most recent trial. Had two trials in January 2020 at Esperance and was beaten a combined 50.5L. Then bobbed up at Mt Barker trials in November and ran third (beaten under a half length) by first-up Ascot winner Wild Fusion and genuine c70+ type Sir Snugalot. Could get under the guard of the market and worth a mad throw at the stumps off that trial effort. ROYAL SOLDIER similarly has trialled up nicely both at Esperance and at Belmont. Should be going close in an Esperance maiden. YULONG ROCKSTAR is always there abouts and has promised to win a maiden for a long while. BRUCEY BOY is slowly but surely improving. Numbers: 10 – 6 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – GOD’S BLUE SKYE EACHWAY RACE 4 CITY RANSOM is a speedy type who in theory should be suited to racing fresh and on the unused pad at Esperance on opening day. Thinking that Madi Derrick will find the front and let her run. If she’s anywhere near peak she’ll take a stack of beating. VITALILO always showed glimpses for Brian Kersley. As we saw at Barker with Tramontane Jo Leeson can get these tried horses up fresh. BUSY ONE put in a few nice ones at Kalgoorlie. DIRTY DOT raced particularly well early in the Kal season. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – CITY RANSOM WIN RACE 5 PASTRY lead throughout to win a 58+ at Kalgoorlie two starts ago beating home Startthefriar who went on to win his next two. Ran sixth of six last start in a disappointing performance but capable of bouncing back. GILLESPIE finds a new with Cliff Smith and is a last start winner in the metro/provincial area. With the 4kg claimer gets in very well weighted for a race of this nature. AMELIE ARGOT on paper should be a brilliant acquisition for Helen Harding. Didn’t quite come up last preparation but new environment should help. GLUTEN FREE a handy type on her day. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – PASTRY WIN RACE 6 MISS ABBY has been huge at her last two. Finished off well behind Nord Avenir, Leading Man and Blackwood River, then again in a hot sectional race behind Marmalisa and Blue Turns to Grey. Always risky backing 4kg claimers but gets in with no weight and provided she stays out of trouble she’ll take holding out. ARSINOE finds herself at Fiona Scott’s Esperance stable and from the draw Simone Altieri should have her just forward of midfield with cover. TOO SPICY has the box set draw but could even lead them up without surprising. Handy filly on her day and this isn’t the strongest field. SASSATIONAL resumes and showed some ability last preparation. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet – MISS ABBY WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,3,4,6,8,10 1,2,7,9 1,2,3 3,6,7 Market Market
