Scott Embry’s Saturday Esperance Preview Posted on December 12, 2025December 12, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 REIGN IN THE CASH has had two starts in Esperance for South Australian duo David Page and Wayne Wheatley and both have had plenty of merit. Missed away at his WA debut and then finished off strongly and then second-up was drawn 3 and shuffled back to the fence which is never ideal at Esperance. Drawn fence in run again which concerns but screaming out for a mile. MIDSUMMER ROMANCE got a long way back in that same race and attacked the line well. She’s already had a run previously over 2000 at Pinjarra so the trip is absolutely no worries. PERFECT RULER is only just going at the minute. IFF YOURE READY will appreciate the extra ground. Numbers: 2 – 8 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – REIGN IN THE CASH WIN RACE 2 GOLDEN OPERA should be breaking through here. She hung inwards badly first up and gave Chloe Azzopardi a horror ride in the home straight, so hopefully this time around she can go straight and then straight on by. Like these (relatively) talented maidens drawing wide to swoop into it three deep cover. HARLEQUINN PRANCER is a long time maiden but with a new home and into a weaker jurisdiction looks the danger. Liked the trial. I HAD A DREAM may well look to kick through and lead to avoid being in the dreaded leader’s back at Espy position. ARCTIC FOX was sound fresh. Numbers: 11 – 5 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – GOLDEN OPERA WIN RACE 3 HILTON is an Esperance horse through and through. He had another wonderful preparation last season, he’s three from six first-up, four of his six Esperance wins are at this distance and he’s kept at a winnable weight after the Holly Nottle claim. PADDY’S FLYIN has run well in each start since joining Fiona Scott and he’s going to get the right run close handy. EEVALINA should be a handy mare for the region. She ran second in a $100,000 race at Ascot last start behind a nice horse too in Bolta. WILD IMAGINATION was a ripper first run in WA but lumping 64.5 is wild in itself. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – HILTON WIN RACE 4 ROYAL ACCOLADE was really well supported first up and just looked like he needed the run. Second-up he absolutely bolted in and this looks another nice stepping stone for him before he heads into a better grade of racing. BUSTERS GIRL beat him first up but had the table turned big time second up. PENNED has run some big races in defeat dating back to the Kalgoorlie season. Must be tough because it’s been a long prep right back to April. TROPICAL SUN has a nice turn of foot and that suits Esperance racing. Numbers: 2 – 11 – 9 – 6 Suggested Bet – ROYAL ACCOLADE WIN RACE 5 CAP CAVOUR always showed ability when trained in Perth by Neville Parnham but was his own worst enemy with his racing manners. He had his first start for the Tried Horse King in Gary Burger and he was on his best behaviour and absolutely bolted in. He can go through the grasses in Esperance. SIMPLY ROYALTY won well on debut when with Boy Hill. First-up was initially crunched in betting but was noticeably soft late and ran accordingly. PURE QUALITY has never run a bad race in her entire life. FUZZYBOX is also through the Royal Accolade / Busters Girl race. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – CAP CAVOUR WIN RACE 6 DOTHRAKI had bled a lot of ratings points across his South Australian career and that has left David Page with a lot of wriggle room to work him back up through the grades. Liked each of his starts this prep and gives the indication he wants further too. TRUE CHANCE is a talent. He’s won 5 from 12 and has the talent to continue through to 70+ and then on towards the Esperance Cup this season if they can keep him together for that long. Big ask first-up 1400m under 61.5kg but watch for him late. DADIRRA absolutely thrashed them last start. WEST COAST WARRIOR did too much work fresh. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – DOTHRAKI WIN RACE 7 RAZMAS only just fell in at his first start in Esperance but there was a big gap to third and the horse who pushed him to that narrow margin (Lacie Ace) isn’t here. Should again control and look to sneak away from the 600. WIFE SAYS YES is the stablemate and given that Chloe Azzopardi is riding number one for Campbell McCallum it’s worth noting that she’s on her and not Razmas. HEAVENBENT was a big improver first up to second up. TITAN RISING also ran well last start, as all of David Page’s are. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – RAZMAS WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,11 1 1,3,9 2,9
