Scott Embry’s Saturday Broome Preview Posted on July 8, 2022July 8, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 CONTENTO BOY finished a narrow second to Testifying and then a distant second to Lindram Walter. Those two stablemates now vacate the maiden ranks and there’s no new comers to the region. Bonnie Palise jumps aboard and this looks a great chance for him to lead and win. Kicks through from barrier number one and takes serious running down. ANTONINA has been finishing off her races well. She’s screaming out for even further. Just needs to stay in touch. PLATINUM LABEL is going well but he is quite one paced. NEEDS TIME can improve sharply second start on the dirt. Numbers: 4 – 9 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – CONTENTO BOY WIN RACE 2 GORGEOUS GUS had his first start in Broome 13 days ago in an 1100m C2 event when sitting wide and proving far too strong for them late. He was first-up without a trial and should only improve fitness wise and for the experience. Rises 1.5kg but faces a very similar field and should prove hard to beat again. PRO IS HERE is a new comer to the region and has really good tactical speed early. If he comes out running and finds the fence, he could pinch this without surprising. ORNAMENTAL BELLE has run two great races for the Anthony Barton/Simone Altieri combination and a win is very close. SO BIRIKKINO wasn’t bad at his Broome debut and will be in front for a fair way. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – GORGEOUS GUS WIN RACE 3 FREQUENT FRIAR was always going to take a few runs to reach his peak in Broome but more importantly connections were going to have to be patient until the second half of the season when the distances increased. First-up 1400 run off his legs, second-up 1600m came hard late and third-up 1800m looks right up his alley. Drops 2.5kg and provided he leaves the gates cleanly should nearly roll to the top and take serious running down. Great race for him. NEVARDA never runs a bad race in Broome and the form behind In The Bag speaks for itself. Logical danger and really well placed. SCHOOLING can be hit and miss but when he jumps he’s dangerous in this grade. KITGUM a query at the trip but racing well. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – FREQUENT FRIAR WIN RACE 4 KENTUCKY DREAM is the kind of horse who will probably get rolled more often than he gets up with his racing pattern but if Colin Haddon can start to get him to jump consistently and he can give him the 12/10 ride that he gave him last star then he’s a big chance of going back to back and potentially working his way through the grades. HUSSTARR is a different horse in front at Broome (most are) and if he finds the top he’s hard to run down. MUSIC MACHINE is going well and drops 4kg in weight. KARAOKE EXPRESS is a grinding type who needs to wind up from a fair way out. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 10 – 7 Suggested Bet – KENTUCKY DREAM WIN RACE 5 SHEIKH IT was always going to be an interesting watch at his Broome debut. There seems to be a few different versions of Sheikh It (as we saw at Ascot in March/April) but to his credit his first run in Broome over 1435m was excellent. Comes up in grade but importantly get out in distance and with a 2.5kg drop in weight and kept out of trouble from a wide gate he could get over these late. MEGADON was ridden to perfection last start. When you have a 3kg claim just keep punching and that’s exactly what Luke Campbell was able to do. Going super and can definitely win again. BLACKWATER BAY brings real X-Factor. If he handles the dirt he could be a big Broome Cup chance. Classy animal. DIAMOND TONIQUE is building and the old boy should be winning another one soon. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – SHEIKH IT WIN RACE 6 PIT TO WIN is the superior speed ratings horse in the region at the minute. Many don’t like that phrase but on the dirt it’s the key to the market. First-up in Broome $2.80 into $1.70. Second-up in Broome $6.50 into $3.90. The market loves the horse, he handles the dirt brilliantly and he runs time. First-up win by 5L faster than 58+ average and second-up win was 3.5L faster than 70+ average. He’s hard to beat again and turning into a real favourite of punters. SPEEDING COMET is tough as they come and won’t give up. ISOLA BAY with absolutely no weight should measure up. CITY REGAL flying but 1200m is far different to 1000. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 10 – 8 Suggested Bet – PIT TO WIN TO WIN RACE 7 LUKE’S CHOICE finished second to In The Bag first-up in a 58+ 1435, then finished fourth to that same galloper in a 64+ 1600 at his second start on the dirt. There’s no In The Bag’s in this race, it looks far more open and even. He actually drops 2.5kg and runs into a thinner line-up and probably goes round a similar eachway quote. One of many chances. BART’S BULLET comes back to 1435m and if he can kick through and lead it hard to hold out. CASINO WAR can be forgiven for last start, unfortunately nothing went right from barriers opening to crossing the line. POWERFUL is a highly consistent type who will be there abouts all season in this grade. Numbers: 4 – 10 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – LUKE’S CHOICE EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,10 1,2,3,4,8 4 2,3,4,6,7,9,10 Market Market
