Scott Embry’s Saturday Broome Preview Posted on July 2, 2021July 2, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MIYAGI is a new acquisition to the Steele Casey yard and in a newcomer to the region. Produced first-up at Narrogin by Darren McAuliffe to win a 46+ with 59kg when heavily supported. Since then has raced without much luck and has been beaten a fair way. Small field suits, capable of jumping and running and if handling the surface can prove hard to beat. SUNDAY AT SIX was the target of smart money late in betting at Port Hedland. Found the front and never looked like being run down. Hard to ignore the win. PRINCE SAIYAN Is a last start winner over 1200m at Port Augusta in a maiden and that’s a similar style of racing and surface as Broome. DO YOUR BEST broke her maiden well two starts ago. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – MIYAGI WIN RACE 2 THE FIBONACCI heads to Broome and joins John Gangemi in an attempt to break through. If he could reproduce his on speed run from March at Pinjarra when matching motors with Astro Warrior for a large portion of that race when settling as the leader he would be hard to beat in this. No doubt Peter Hall will have a sniff for the top and if he finds the fence he’s the one to beat. MUST RUSH was solid at the Broome debut and should only take benefit for the dirt experience. MORGAN LE FAYE ran far better last Sunday when jumping cleanly. TANGO NITA wasn’t terrible. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – THE FIBONACCI WIN RACE 3 RED’S MATE put the writing on the wall first-up with a powerful finishing burst from an impossible position in running. Second-up missed away by 3L and that was the end of his winning chances. Last Sunday he got away well and was able to position up midfield in a tightly compact affair and got the ideal trail into the race following Ombudsman before getting the better of him late in the race. Capable of going back to back here. FRIAR’S FANCY has run well at each outing this season. Third behind Pit to Win and Hoolahoops, third behind Dance Cockey and Moorumbine and even last week stuck a slick 1200. Better suited here. YOURTHEONEFORME likely finds the front and gets it cheap. PEARL GIRL was no hope fresh when everything that could go wrong did go wrong. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – RED’S MATE WIN RACE 4 CORPORATE LARRIKIN is a rising 12 year old but shows no signs of getting old! Winner of a Mt Barker Cup only two starts ago at 2000m when leading them throughout before running a game third in 70+ company at Albany over 1920. Can jump and work across and while he is clearly the kind of horse who gets better and better into the preparation it would be no surprise to see him more than competitive here. ULUSABA has no doubt been targeted at the Broome Cup later in the season. The form stands out for a race like this and if he handles the distance and the track he’ll be awfully hard to beat. MONASH never looked like being run down last week. Looking for similar on speed tactics. WARFISH got back and resented the kick-back at his Broome debut. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – CORPORATE LARRIKIN WIN RACE 5 LADY TALENT ran fifth at the opening meeting in a fast run 1000 when chasing throughout, ran home nicely second-up when finishing third behind subsequent C2 winner Slick Unit and handy C1/2 type Crash Hat Lady and then last weekend caught the eye late as one of the few horses in the race (and the meeting) to make any noticeable late ground. On the back-up, out in trip and strikes a very winnable race. ALL METAL dominated moderate maiden opposition last week but can go back to back if finding the front. BURN ONE DOWN might be looking for further still. NOBLE SPIRIT gets in with no weight from an ideal draw. Numbers: 9 – 3 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – LADY TALENT WIN RACE 6 SLICK UNIT looks the ideal dirt type who will continue his way through the grades. Dominant C1 winner first-up, dominant C2 winner second-up and in really sharp time. Had to track the hot tempo that was set by The Wise One and did the work at both ends when holding off Crash Hat Lady late in the race. Comes from a C2 run 3.5L faster than average and on the back-up finds a very similar profile of race here. Will need to track the every move of King of Planets/Old Bailey and should be able to do so. KING OF PLANETS was allowed to roll by Rosie Mahony last start and that paid dividends. Expecting identical jump and run tactics. MOET DE VEGA is the X-Factor runner having his first appearance on the dirt. Will only get better as they step him out over further. OLD BAILEY will be in the firing line for a long way. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – SLICK UNIT WIN RACE 7 STAADEN did enough at his first start on the dirt to suggest that he will take beating getting out to a more suitable trip. Is a Northam 1600m winner, and a 2x Kalgoorlie 1760m winner so the extra distance is definitely a positive. If he steps cleanly Peter Hall should be able to cross the majority of horses drawn underneath him and if he is put into the race and it turns into a staying affair he’ll be strong late. PIT TO WIN has done nothing wrong this preparation and has a big pull in the weights. Hard to fault. RAYARNIE did a mountain of work last start and looks like pinching one of these races soon. RHINO BUSTER is suited to racing in this grade. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – STAADEN WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,3,5 1,2,3,8,9 2,3,5 2,9 Market Market
