Scott Embry’s Monday Northam Preview Posted on June 4, 2021June 6, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SAVVY DAN hit the line well at a mile on debut when finishing third to Queens High and Acting God. Last time out was thrown into a C1 and wasn’t disgraced. Looks an out and out staying type. GLENAUREEN is a 22 start maiden but did loom the winner last start when rolling into the home corner and only gunned down late by Baronova and did beat home Alkaline, Cape Choice and Special Image in the process. Low race, gets his chance. ALKALINE and CAPE CHOICE look like pinching a staying maiden within the next few months. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – SAVVY DAN WIN RACE 2 GARAGE DAYS went under as a $2.00 chance at Albany last start which on face value looks an average run. When you watch the replay there is a horse who falls into his lap at the 600 and halts all of his momentum. Johnston-Porter has to duck and weave to avoid the compounding horse and pick up again. Worth forgiving and is drawn a gate to rebound. IMA SLY FOX ran out of his skin first-up at any old odds. Bring One Home ran third behind him and won at his next start. VITAL TIMES has been knocking on the door throughout her career to date. SPECIAL DEAL looks like he will need every inch of a mile. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – GARAGE DAYS WIN RACE 3 GOLD MERITS caught the eye first-up when making solid ground late behind the stablemate in Enticing. Last time out ran sixth behind Treasured Prize, Star Storm and Petite La Femme but recorded some outstanding closing sections chasing them home. Blinkers on, Laqdar sticks and drawn a gate for the first time in the campaign. CRESCENT CITY will be all the rage off the back of an impressive trial win. Went around short in two runs last preparation and wasn’t disgraced at either. Might just be on the short side for her. TREVERN has ability but runs around badly. If he goes straight, he goes close. BOYOHBOY WOWEE is slowly but surely getting closer. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – GOLD MERITS WIN RACE 4 CRITICAL ALTITUDE comes to a maiden for the first time in her life. Second on debut in a 3yo 0MWLY behind How’s The Serenity (beating home Divine Pair), second start went to a 3yo 62+ when finishing within 2.5L of Kaptain Kaos, How’s The Serenity and Bragwell, third start back to 3yo 0MWLY when third to Son Son and First Law, last time out was backed to beat Acromantula, Vadette De Star and Miss Livinia. If she somehow opens black figures watch out. SPINALONG TIME is a 2 year old filly in an all age maiden. Gets in with absolutely no weight and has shown ability at trials. Love the placement. YES MAN trialled up nicely and had no luck on debut. Improver. HIGH PRECISION can hug the rail in what could be a leader, leader’s back, three back the fence race. Numbers: 4 – 11 – 10 – 9 Suggested Bet – CRITICAL ALTITUDE WIN RACE 5 BORN SPICY looks extremely well placed and hard to beat. Ran third first-up in a 3yo 0MWLY behind Just a Pinch and Billy Ray, beat home Nowhiteflag down the straight at start number two this campaign and most recently ran them along on a heavy track when beaten home by talented types including Son Son, Divine Pair and Time Scale. Genuine Saturday form in a Northam C1. DARK CITY ran home well first-up from a tricky position. MISS QUOTED is honest and consistent but doesn’t win out of turn. JANAURA improved back to a C1 last time out. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – BORN SPICY WIN RACE 6 JAG THE JOKER had to work too hard in the early and middle stages last start. Previous to that tracked the breakneck tempo that saw Super Ex break the track record and the race which saw Tiff Has Spoken backed as if unbeatable in the Sky Provincial Series final. In between ran fourth to Panzdown and Comes A Time. With even luck can play a big part. TURBO POWER and PAMBELLA are both proven in stronger company than this. Both are first-up and might need the run but both can run well on class alone. LUCKY LINDA LULU is attacking the line powerfully recently and from the draw gets the run she needs. Numbers: 10 – 7 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – JAG THE JOKER WIN RACE 7 DEPUTANO looks a progressive mare capable of going through the grades and heading to Saturday racing. Has always shown ability but struggled a little bit for consistency. Was plunged first-up and looked to struggle late under the big weight and second-up let down powerfully to score an emphatic win. Ideal draw, ideal map and a mare on the rise. ARNIE’S BOY has put the writing on the wall at his last two outings. 4kg claimer replaced by Chris Parnham and has hit form at the right time. BUTTERLEA LAD has returned to racing well and did a stack of work last time out. TRILLIONAIRE brings alternate form but has a big turn of foot. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet – DEPUTANO WIN RACE 8 SPIRITED SESSION is certainly not an easy horse to ride but from the draw Peter Knuckey should have him in a prominent position tracking the speed. Won his maiden well, ran well from a tough draw in a high rating C3 behind Butterlea Lad and Trevello and then last start came back to C1 company and was deep the trip chasing a hot speed set by Run D’Affair Run. Looks suited in this. ISOPODA has always shown a level of ability. Ash Maley first-up no trial – beware. BRING ONE HOME is lightly raced and looks the type who will improve at every outing. CHOICE COMMMAND an improver with weight relief and a gear change. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – SPIRITED SESSION WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 6 2,3,5,6,7,8,9,10 2,3,4,10 2,3,6 Market Market
