Scott Embry’s Monday Bunbury Preview Posted on September 20, 2024September 20, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 HEZGOTTHESAFE was backed off the map first-up without a trial and was only nabbed late along the inside by Safekeeper. Always had an opinion of the horse, always impressed at trials and should get every chance from the ideal gate here. POND MASTER trialled really well behind Queen Of Hawks. Should she win or run well in a race that contains Sir Dreamalot and Keep Ita Mystery then that will look like great form come Monday and Pond Master found the line under no riding from Pike in that trial performance. SPIRIT GUIDE won both of his trials like a horse who would be making the grade. KIMBERLEY ROSE another who ahs shown huge ability at trials. Good form reference this. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – HEZGOTTHESAFE WIN RACE 2 MAI ALOHA was the first past the post on debut and then lost the race on protest in the Steward’s Room. She returns here in an all age maiden with only 53.5kg on her back and she’ll likely have the speed to lead or can take a trail on Sansanee. Going to be popular. FIRST BEACH ran third at Cranbourne on debut back in May 2024 and then has had just the one single 950m trial at Lark Hill for Michael Grantham and covered the ground really impressively. Legitimate danger. SANSANEE finished third behind Razmas and subsequent winner Safekeeper fresh. LADY TREMAINE ran a ripper first-up at odds. Numbers: 10 – 1 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – MAI ALOHA WIN RACE 3 ALL VITAL has been a bit of a test of patience recently and has been promising to win a maiden but found ones better or excuses each and every time. Last start he finished powerfully behind Imarock God and subsequent 3 year old 0MWLY winner Snippy Sean and now he’s drawn a gate. One more (last) time. RUNAWAY WINSTON is a big striding galloper who will park over the speed and keep kicking. DREAM ILLISION is 1200 to 1675 and 39 days between runs. Big respect but that’s a task? WHISTLING WARRIOR couldn’t quite get past a nice 3 year old in Venus King last start. Ready now. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – ALL VITAL WIN RACE 4 WAR MATTERS really caught the eye first-up over the concluding stages behind Razmas. Was first-up, no trial and was held up until the race was all over and then got busy late. Like the fact he steps to 1400m and with the early scratching he’s gained a run. Race has depth but he’s got something (I think…) UNIVERSAL HOTNESS was strongly backed last start and ran really well. Was run down by a maiden who looks like she’ll be able to go on with it in Lil Capri but Shaun McGruddy is set a task here from a horrible alley. Won’t be a maiden much longer. ROSIE CAN RUN resumed in a 3 year old Plate and beat half the field home. TRUE PLAYER trialled well behind First Beach and that form is on show in Race 2. Numbers: 17 – 2 – 16 – 10 Suggested Bet – WAR MATTERS WIN RACE 5 MAGNACHINE looks just about ready. She ran a really good second to Kraken Time two starts ago and then last Sunday got caught three deep throughout and wasn’t disgraced. Drops down to 55.5, draws low and strikes a winnable race. MAGNUM CLASS rarely runs a bad race but he’s continually finding one or two sharper than him at the minute. DIALLING ran second to Tenacious Reward fresh last campaign and then won a 3 year old 0WMLY in style. TOP OF THE WALK comes through the Oregon Hiker / Lord Shiva / Ahyeahrighto / Empress Of India race that’s producing the goods. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – MAGNACHINE WIN RACE 6 VENUS KING is only a last start maiden winner and is a September 3 year old racing over 2000m but he just looks a stayer. Brad Parnham was desperate to lead last start, he copped pressure and then he found again on the line when challenged. Love the way he goes about it. OMERTA GRACE broke her maiden well over 1600m and then was savaging the line late over 1675m last start and gave every indication that she would get 2000+. Great use of the claim. TRIBAL RULER caused a big upset last start when scoring at 100-1. Always an unknown following horses who win at those prices but he was strong to the line. LEAD BY EXAMPLE next. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – VENUS KING WIN RACE 7 SPORTS TALK ran well first-up behind Bonid Plunge who has won again since and then was narrowly defeated last start by Roch Legacy. He’s shown glimpses of ability throughout his career but this could be his breakout preparation. Drawn to get a very soft run and is versatile. Don’t mind him here and always runs round at a price. HOLY GHOST finished second to Abloh in the Kambalda Cup and that galloper likely heads to the Hannans Handicap. JELLY CAN RUN was scratched from Saturday at Belmont to save for this race on Monday at Bunbury. Is flying but is also a wet track horse – that’s the concern. LINDEN’S GOLD was winding up strongly late through heavy traffic fresh. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – SPORTS TALK EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,10,16,17 1,2,4,5 1,4,7,9 1,2,3,7,9 Market Market
