Scott Embry’s Friday Esperance Preview Posted on December 6, 2023December 6, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 HOT PUDDIN’ finished 2L off Janny in a Bunbury maiden before finishing a narrow second to Rockin’ The Casbah last start. The third horse Wolfman goes around on Wednesday at Belmont in a C1 and if he was to beat a few home it will make the form of Hot Puddin’ look super for an Esperance maiden. Just needs luck from a horror draw. FEROCIOUS FROST was one of the better runs of the opening meeting when charging late behind Bondi Bubbles. RICCO DORO can nearly cross these from out wide and if he does so he’ll be in front for a long way. RULING MAJORITY can enjoy a nice run from the inside gate. Numbers: 11 – 12 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – HOT PUDDIN’ WIN RACE 2 STOLEN VALOUR joins the stables of Gary Burger and when he teams up with Lisa Staples it pays to follow. Last 750 days the combination have produced 12 winners from 52 starters at a 23% strike rate. That’s unbelievably good over an extended period. Thought STOLEN VALOUR trialled up really well at Belmont leading into an interrupted preparation without much luck. Going to roll the dice. LET IT GO RUPERT was apparently the talk of the town going into the opening meeting but could only manage third behind lost Smile and Dare Me. Should only improve. DARE ME looks a nice pick up for Col Haddon and won’t be a maiden long. PARADISE STAR finished fourth in that same event and made good ground. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 11 – 12 Suggested Bet – STOLEN VALOUR WIN RACE 3 AL QUEPONE is just a different animal when racing at Esperance. He finished a narrow second to Boozeroo at the opening meeting off a 7 week freshen in a race which turned into a Josh Brown trifecta with Westernize in third. There’s a 1kg weight swing in favour of Al Quepone for beating home Westernize and from the draw he should be getting every chance. WESTERNIZE has been a great competitor over many seasons and looks in for another good campaign. GINGER JONES should be a nice country horse for Darryn Pateman and likely crosses them without much pressure. Keep safe. NOBLE REFLECTION always there abouts. Numbers: 2 – 8 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – AL QUEPONE WIN RACE 4 BOOZEROO was brilliant at the opening meeting when winning a 64+ and beating home Al Quepone and Westernize who both head to the 70+ on the Friday program. BOOZEROO stays in a C5 and should be hard to beat even with an extra 4.5kg on his back. Looks in for a great preparation. BLAZING PASSION looms as the obvious danger having run yet another great race at the Esperance Bay Turf Club when second behind My Boy Chris in this grade. BELLES FANTASY should be a really good Esperance mare once she hits full fitness. Dropping 4kg beware. LEADING MAN will find this drop back in grade to his liking. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – BOOZEROO WIN RACE 5 CHARCOAL CHAOS should be winning a couple of races here and there this season. Resumed for new trainer Gary Burger when finishing second to Talk Softly and gets a 1kg weight swing to try and turn the tables second-up. TALK SOFTLY was sectionally the highest rating win of the program at the opening meeting. Looks to have returned in super order. MR SNIPS is a bit of an enigmatic galloper. His best as he showed when bolting in a Kalgoorlie maiden in sizzling time is excellent but he can do a fair bit wrong in his races as well. NITRO FRED won at Albany a month ago. Different horse when finding the fence. Numbers: 11 – 5 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – CHARCOAL CHAOS WIN RACE 6 HEAR MY PRAYER raced at Kalgoorlie in a C2 a month ago and finished second to Baalbek. Baalbek has taken that form to Belmont winning a midweek assignment and then placing on a Saturday in a 60+ Graduation. Should measure up in Esperance this season. MASTER ALEX finished second to Yonga Lass only two starts ago who has since won a pair of 66+ races in town and may well head to the Listed Starstruck Classic. Just needed to see more at his first start in Esperance. FRIAR THE GUN went well at the opening meeting but is drawn poorly. KENTUCKY DREAM an improver with the right run. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 10 – 7 Suggested Bet – HEAR MY PRAYER WIN RACE 7 BRIGHID should be suited to the Esperance style of racing where they’re able to get to the outside and let rip down the centre of the track on occasion. Barrier 10 is actually perfect for her because Chris Nicoll can have her parked at the rear and then start to build from the 600. John Mason gets them up and going fresh and she looks well suited by the conditions of the race. Big watch. MY BOY CHRIS won again first-up and like the fact that Helen Harding has avoided the temptation to claim and left a senior on. VEVINSKY hasn’t showed much recently but his best is better than ost of these. FRANKIE BLUE EYES can quickly build. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – BRIGHID WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3,5 1,3,5,11 1,6 1,2,3,7 Market Market
