Scott Embry’s Friday Broome Preview Posted on July 24, 2025July 24, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 STARRING KNIGHT is the outlier in terms of form considering the other four battled each other last start at 1200m. He’s back in trip from a mile and in his previous run he held off cult hero Rogues Point. Should be the first to attack speed pair Bin Shalaa and Tinsnip and will be strong late. MOCHA DREAM naturally improves for the dirt outing but will still need to round them up from last. CRYSTALIST has 62.5kg but has won at Carnarvon with that weight previously. He’s a ripper. TINSNIP will get better as the distances increase. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – STARRING KNIGHT WIN RACE 2 APHRODITE MAGIC looks hard to beat at her first run in Broome. She’s go the speed to use her gate to advantage and if you take away her last run (when a $3.80 chance in a C1 at Northam and pulled up with Cardiac Arrythmia) and just judge her off her near 3L maiden win she’s nearly got to jump favourite? THE TOP BAR is a hard going, high speed cruise horse. Should be perfectly suited to the dirt. MAKE YOUR POINT will need to jump so he can burrow up underneath them. LIGHTNING GOLD is going better than numerical form suggests. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – APHRODITE MAGIC WIN RACE 3 CANGGU had his first start for new trainer Rob Gulberti behind Plato or Plomo, Hide The Oreos and subsequent winner Ima Wild Girl – a form reference which will be popular throughout the meeting. Blinkers on (3x winner in shades), crosses to the top and leads – lots to like. COUSINI NICCI is 1780m back to 1435m and wasn’t that bad behind Lucky Landing in a race where they stopped the clock 6.5L faster than average. Can win. KINGS SICARIO does a lot wrong but is going really well. MY HOLLYWOOD finally broke through last start. Numbers: 8 – 6 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – CANGGU WIN RACE 4 HIDE THE OREOS left Broome at the end of last season a c70 rater and has returned to Broome 12 months later as a c59! He’s had 8 starts on the Pindan for 4 wins and 2 minors and 50% of those wins were over 1600m. If he gets to the breeze to park up outside Commissions it’s game on at double figures. PLATO OR PLOMO beat him home convincingly at 1400m last start and if he runs the trip will be hard to hold out. COMMISSIONS won a moderate event last start in poor time. Could be a big drifter late. ALOTTA DANE was super two back. Keep safe. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – HIDE THE OREOS EACHWAY RACE 5 UNIVERSAL PLAYBOY finally broke a long run off outs to score last start this track/distance. Expect that Simone Alteri will be doing everything in her power to cross and lead and if he can find the fence he’s capable of going back to back. CLOSE TALKER sat leader’s back two starts ago and broke her maiden leading throughout. They can use her speed on the dirt and she’s got some class on most of these. CAPROCORN MAN and ISOLA BAY will both need to burn the candle at both ends from their difficult wide draws. Numbers: 6 – 4 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – UNIVERSAL PLAYBOY WIN RACE 6 STRIKING FELLA was the run of the race behind Find Your Man – a key form race which also contained Gambler’s Gold, Hafey and Advanced. Had to duck and weave a passage after having his momentum halted in the straight and picked up brilliantly all things considered. Brilliant edition of the Cable Beach Caravan Park Cup and he’s one of many chances. BAMBUN BOY won the Geraldton Cup leading all the way. If he finds a forward spot out of the kickback he’s a threat. GAMBLER’S GOLD is only 1/14 at Broome but some of his runs in defeat have been huge. MIRRORSCHINO a big improver if he steps. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 4 – 12 Suggested Bet – STRIKING FELLA EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 6,8 1,3,7,9 1,2,4,6,10 1,2,4,6,7,10,12 Market Market
