Chris Nelson’s Randwick Rundown Posted on April 1, 2016April 1, 2016 | Posted by Chris Nelson Chris Nelson’s Preview RACE 1 No. 1 ASTERN Godolphin trained youngster who was unbeaten at his first 2 starts before drawing the extreme outside gate in the Golden Slipper which basically wrecked any winning chance. Another awkward gate here however with luck should go very close. (2) LIONHEARTED raced well in the Pago Pago after tracking wide no cover, definite danger. (6) MOOSHAKISA spelled after the Magic Millions, trialled well leading into this. (3) EL DIVINO bolted in on debut at Gosford, harder here however cannot knock. Suggested Bet – Win bet Astern. RACE 2 No. 7 DATA POINT Comes out of a last start unplaced effort in the Randwick Guineas, just gave away too much start on that occasion & although drawn wide over the same trip here this is a much easier affair. (3) ODYSSEY MOON not far away in stakes grade last couple down south, Blake Shinn to ride a good pointer. (2) TATOOSH is probably better suited back to the mile after failing to finish off over the 2000m trip last time. (5) MOHER improving type in the right hands. Suggested Bet – Win bet Data Point. RACE 3 No. 1 LIBRAN Chris Waller trained stayer who is having his final hit out leading up to the Sydney Cup and the way he’s been going it’s just impossible to tip against him. Very strong to the line his last couple should relish the 2600m. (2) AUVRAY loved the first up run at Randwick which was his first since winning consecutive 3000m races at Longchamp in France. Disappointing last time however had excuses and can bounce back. (3) DESTINY’S KISS will run the trip right out. (4) CAFÉ SOCIETY chased home Libran last start, does get a 1.5kg weight turnaround. Suggested Bet – Win bet Libran. RACE 4 No. 3 CLEARLY INNOCENT Final of the Country Championship which will be a great spectacle. Going with the likely favourite who is in top form and likely to gain the right run from a perfect draw. (1) LOFTY’S MENU the logical danger also in terrific form and comes off a recent Rosehill placing after the heat win. (2) PROFILER gate no help however not the roughest. (4) PERA PERA overcame a wide run to score at Wellington and Bowman to ride. Suggested Bet – Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 5 No. 10 EGYPTIAN SYMBOL Super consistent filly who just finds all sorts of ways to get beaten. Drifted a long way back here 2 starts back running home strongly before not far away at Rosehill latest. Each-way again. (1) PERIGNON first up winner, little luck last time. Right in this. (2) PEARLS no excuses in Group 1 company latest however this far easier and prior form strong. (3) SECRET AGENDA Victorian visitor with solid form, like to see ridden with a sit. Suggested Bet – Egyptian Symbol each-way. RACE 6 No. 8 YANKEE ROSE Golden Slipper runner up who really attacked the line in strong fashion. The step up to 1400m is ideal and she should be rounding these up late. Looks a good bet. (3) SEABURGE won the Victorian edition of this race recently, just needs luck early off the wide draw. (5) DETECTIVE runner up to Seaburge when leading, gives a great sight once again. (1) TELPERION not far away in the Slipper and drawn to get the right run. Suggested Bet – Win bet Yankee Rose. RACE 7 No. 1 TARZINO Victoria Derby winner in the spring who was very strong to the line at Rosehill winning the Guineas last start. Obviously proven at the trip and on paper does appear the one to beat. (4) TALLY definite threat having won all 4 starts this campaign. Just seems to be going from strength to strength and is a real chance of running to top selection down. Shapes up as a great duel. (13) JAMEKA VRC Oaks winner who fought on well in the Rosehill Guineas after a tough run. (6) TORGERSON terrific last week and in the right hands. Suggested Bet – Backing top two selections to win. RACE 8 No. 14 EXOSPHERE Plenty has been said about him being on the wrong part of the track in the Newmarket. That being the case he ran very well under the circumstances, he’s a very classy animal who can make amends here. (1) CHAUTAUQUA hard to tip against him as he’s so good. Will be charging home at the business end. (2) FLAMBERGE Victorian visitor flying, won his last couple both at Group 1 level. (15) ENGLISH huge win fresh, gave away too much start last time. Suggested Bet – Backing top two selections to win. RACE 9 No. 3 WINX Just cannot tip against her, she’s won her last 8 on the trot with 4 of those last 5 being in Group 1 company. Back to Handicap conditions here however I very much doubt that will stop her from making in 9 straight! (10) HAPPY CLAPPER the ‘weight horse’. Carried 59kg his last couple and this has been the aim all along. (6) FIRST SEAL drawn the right gate and should box seat, Tommy Berry will be producing her at the right time in the straight. (8) GOOD PROJECT value chance worth including in exotics. Suggested Bet – Winx will be short, exotics best and try for an upset. RACE 10 No. 2 ALASKAN ROSE Mike Moroney trained Victorian filly who really hit the line strongly at Caulfield over 1400m two starts back before striking interference when up to the mile last time still finishing off strongly. Should run the 2000m right out. (5) DAISY’S JOY making good progress before striking soft ground latest, should we be on a Good surface is well worth including. (4) AURORA’S STAR going ok in easier races and can place. (10) BULLA BABY lightly raced progressing nicely. Suggested Bet – Alaskan Rose each-way BEST BET Race 6 No. 8 Yankee Rose BEST EACH WAY Race 5 No. 10 Egyptian Symbol Bet Now
