Race 3 No 5 ARTIE DEE TWO – WIN Missed nearly a year’s racing, but after being run off his feet first up at the Warrnambool Carnival, won a soft tempo/dash home at Ballarat on wet ground which is relevant here and a good asset to have. Had to go significantly quicker early at Sandown and the 2nd best last 800 and 400 of the day was dead set super. That says he’s ready to peak here and drawn inside should see him close enough to likely leader SEVEN YEAR REWARD to run him down with ordinary luck. Race 9 No 10 MAGIC CONSOL – Each Way Tough as teak veteran with both tactical speed and an ability to handle wet ground which is a daul asset here. Last start had barrier 1 – a clear negative on the day – and now gets Williams riding for the title and 6 which should be perfect to sit on the speed one of the rail. In addition was 4 weeks between runs off a brutal 1800 suggesting they’d back off him a bit. A fortnight later should be spot on and if he is will take a power of beating at a good each way price.
