Oli Cownie’s Monday Gloucester Park Preview Posted on July 22, 2024July 22, 2024 | Posted by TABtouch Race 1 ALDERBARAN SUNDOWN (6) improved sharply last start when finishing second behind Luvaflair closing late. Faced by an awkward draw but does have an extremely good record at the track and trip. DREAMBIGAIMHIGH (4) was able to score last time out starting off a 20 metre handicap. He got a comfortable run in the breeze on a slow tempo and was too speedy for the leader late. Made an error two runs ago from the mobile.NICKYS SON (5) was possibly a bit disappointing last start when fading late. He’s better than that effort and with Chris Lewis jumping back aboard expecting improvement. SELLUNE (3) hasn’t quite been able to break through for that elusive win in WA but is rarely far away. Did himself no favours last start when making an early break. Tips: 6 4 5 3 Suggested Bet: NICKYS SON (1) to win. Race 2 UPTOWN LAD (5) was defeated last start but lost no admirers. One of the more eye catching efforts in defeat made an error and lost plenty of ground but was still able to run a strong second. ABUNDANCE (3) is generally a horse that begins safely and smartly from the stands. If he can zip out and find cover then he can be thereabouts after a good trial at Northam. CHUNANI (2) just battled on in the concluding stages two starts ago after racing on the pegs before he found the leaders back last start and finished midfield. STAY FOCUSED (6) is a winner of his last two races. He may need others to make errors in this race again to make it three in a row. Tips: 5 3 2 6 Suggested Bet: UPTOWN LAD (5) to win. Race 3 RUBY LOVERA (5) has the key draw advantage on her main rival in this race. Showed good gate speed to lead all the way last time out and zipped home a pretty quick last half. CAPTAINSHAVTIME (7) floated off the gate on Friday and was able to lead them up pretty easily. WINTER WONDER (6) has only missed the placings once in her five starts. Think she can position up close enough and looks one of the main chances. BULL SHARK BETTY (8) draws poorly and it may be a similar story to her last start where she gets back and is doing her best work late. Tips: 5 7 6 8 Suggested Bet: RUBY LOVERA (5) to win. Race 4 SOHO SKYFALL (4) won well on Friday after finding the lead early. Appears to have returned from a spell in extremely good order and looks hardest to beat. INFINITE MERIT (1) likely to appreciate racing over the mile from the inside draw. No luck last time out in a race with more depth when badly checked. MAXIMUM ROCK (10) draws to follow out a decent beginner in a race that may be run to suit those on the peg line. His recent efforts have been impressive. JIMMY ROCKS (7) impressed two runs ago when second to Cork Can Run. He appears a speedy horse that is likely to appreciate mile racing. Despite the awkward draw he can be thereabouts. Tips: 4 1 10 7 Suggested Bet: SOHO SKYFALL (4) to win. Race 5 ARTFUL MIKI (1) draws ideally here in gate one with Justin Prentice taking the reins after guiding him to a comfortable victory last time out. One query on him potentially is gate speed racing against quality horses. GREVIS (2) dominant winner last start against much easier opposition. Appears a race he may be able to obtain the right sort of run in. LOUIE DIOR (7) smart horse returning in this race. He promised plenty last time in winning his first four starts of his career. MARBEECHSAM (5) returns in this race and has always been a horse that’s shown good ability. Generally driven for his speed so we could see him finishing strong if the speeds on. Tips: 1 2 7 5 Suggested Bet: ARTFUL MIKI (1) to win. Race 6 ARTISTIC SCRIBE (2) worked hard to get around to the breeze last start and battled on well into second behind Chambray. Draws gate two this time she can make her presence felt. SECRET REACTION (6) zipped over at the start last time out and ended up over racing quite badly there throughout, did well not to be beaten further. If she can zip over again here she may prove hard to catch if she can settle better. TIGER LOU (4) was a good effort last time out after breaking at the start she wasn’t beaten far by Franco Mecca. Her lack of gate speed may make things difficult. JOLTED CHARM (1) isn’t a horse that’s blessed with great gate speed. She loves to race up on the speed I suspect she may be crossed at the start but she’s going better than her numerical form suggests. Tips: 2 6 4 1 Suggested Bet: SECRET REACTION (6) each way. Race 7 MAJOR OVERS (3) battled on gamely for second last time out when sitting outside Rascal who is quite a nice horse when able to find the fence. CALLMEWHATUWANT (11) looks a big drop in class having gone to the line badly held up last time out behind Otis, Lucapelo and Feeling Aces in a metro stand. Drawing behind Tepelo Star appears less than ideal. LUKE ATTACK (4) has been placed in five of his last seven starts and appears to be racing at his absolute best. Last time out he made a break which cost him any chance of figuring. LORD PUBLISHER (1) hung on for third last time out after racing on the pegs behind Elwadell. May secure a similar trip in this race. Tips: 3 11 4 1 Suggested Bet: MAJOR OVERS (3) to win. Race 8 ELWADDELL (2) found the lead last time out and was a comfortable winner in the end. He can be driven aggressively here to obtain the lead again, if he can then he looks hard to beat. TORREVEAN AMY (1) not beaten far behind Rattlin Lily after obtaining a leaders back trail. Has the gate speed to dictate in this race although her best opportunity may be looking for a suitable trail. TORPEDO ROCK (11) wasn’t beaten far in a strong heat of the Higgins series. He was travelling well there until very late and just missed out qualifying in fifth. RASCAL (9) found the lead and won impressively last start. He’s been a horse in recent times that’s struggled when racing off the fence, so this looks tougher. Tips: 2 1 11 9 Suggested Bet: ELWADDELL (2) to win. Race 9 WALSH (7) ran into a much improved Cohlin last start when sitting in the breeze. The wide draw in this race does him no favours. ZEUDE (6) obtained a leaders back run last time out and wasn’t quite able to reel in the leader who had a nice run throughout. Too far back run prior in a race won by Velopcipede. TRITTRITTBANGBANG (1) chose to hand over at the start last time out over the mile. Steps up to the 2100 may look to employ similar tactics in this race. UNLUCKY (10) is only a moderate beginner and draws quite awkwardly for her. She faded last time out after racing wide. SIDSTREPO (8) is racing better than his numerical form would suggest, battling on well in recent starts. He would really need a great drive or plenty of speed on to figure in this race but he’s one to keep safe at odds. Tips: 7 6 10 8 Suggested Bet: SIDSTREPO (8) each way. Race 10 PRIME MOVER (1) returns from a spell after finishing midfield behind some of the better 3YOs. He only left the gate fairly there but it was the tricky 1700 start point which can make it tricky for horses drawn the inside to lead. Expect him to prove hard to beat. SPUDMEISTER (10) whipped around them down the back and sprinted quite nicely to get into a clear second. He got very tired late and was grabbed for second. NO NONEY (7) handed over at the start first up from a long spell last time out. He was looking a likely good thing beaten for most of the home straight before nabbing a run up the inside to score. Should be better for the run. BUNDEGI BLUE (8) lead for most the way last time out before he was just nabbed by Island Tee Rex who’s been the beneficiary of a soft run throughout. He’s faced by a tricky draw. Tips: 1 10 7 8 Suggested Bet: SPUDMEISTER (10) to place. Race 11 LADY DELA HOYA (5) debut winner when leading all the way, looked to cross the line with a bit in hand and should likely be better for that outing. Draws to advantage on likely main danger which gives her the edge in this race. OUR SANDY SHORE (8) comes into this race the class runner after a first up win last start. First up she didn’t win by far but that is often the case in a dash home and the horse she beat is racing well. GET THE BOOTH (1) is a horse that has shown good ability at times. Has made plenty of mistakes and gate one potentially looks a tricky draw. Did trial up reasonably and has since had a month since that trial so should be fitter. EBEE AVIATOR (7) recent form has been impressive. She draws awkwardly and will likely find this tougher, needs a few things to go her way to figure at the pointy end in this race. Tips: 5 8 1 7 Suggested Bet: GET THE BOOTH (1) each way. Market Market
