Moonee Valley 23 January – Thoroughbreds Preview Posted on January 22, 2016 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Preview RACE 1 NO. 2 YULONG BABY In-form mare YULONG BABY is chasing a city hat trick when she runs in the Think Big Stud Handicap (2040m) and looks the one to beat again. The four year old was given a magnificent ride by Craig Newitt to win over 2000 metres at Caulfield on December 26 before dropping back in distance and overcoming difficulties in the run to score again over 1800 metres at Caulfield on January 9. She carries the same weight as last start, looks drawn for a good run again and appears well placed for another bold showing. RACE 7 NO. 1 REBEL DANE The feature race of the day is the Jeep Australia Stakes (1200m) and REBEL DANE is the class runner of the field at this distance that looks the one to beat. The Gary Portelli trained stallion enjoyed a solid spring campaign which included a win in The Shorts (1100m) at Randwick on September 19 before a game second behind the elite sprinter TERRA VISTA in the Premiere Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on October 3. He completed his spring campaign with a solid third behind the flying CHATAUQUA in the Manikato Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on October 24. That is superior sprinting form to his rivals and he’s been tuned for this race with an impressive trial when finishing a hard held third over 838 metres at Randwick on January 12. He’s drawn for a good run and appeals as the best bet of the day. RACE 9 NO. 10 RATIONALITY The Benchmark 84 Handicap (1600m) looks an exciting clash between two promising horses, RATIONALITY and CAMDUS, with RATIONALITY looking well prepared to run strongly at this distance and can win again. The four year old has won her past two starts at Morphettville in brilliant fashion including a dominant win over 1600 metres at Morphettville on January 9 and drops 3.5kg on that effort. CAMDUS is a promising horse having won three of his four starts in his first campaign and provides strong opposition but RATIONALITY looks a great winning chance at reasonable odds. Bet Now
