Michael Heaton’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on June 15, 2021June 15, 2021 | Posted by Michael Heaton RACE 1 TIME SCALE is brilliantly placed back into 3YO midweek grade after finishing third to Hot Zed (subsequent 72+ runner-up) and Graceful Girl (subsequent 3YO 62+ and Raconteur Stakes winner) two starts ago before producing a strong second to Brooklyn Pier after chasing a hot speed last time out. Brings the strongest form but just needs an ounce of luck from the draw. CRYPTO QUEEN was a Soft6 winner on debut and showed progressiveness when producing fighting on strongly in far tougher company second-up. Will hold a forward position and can create her own luck. MYSTICAL VIEW is twice stakes-placed but is at the crossroads of her career. IAN’S SPECIAL will be doing her best work late. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – TIME SCALE WIN RACE 2 SOMETHINGREADY trialled up very impressively leading into her first-up run where she was drawn awkwardly and has always appeared to have natural ability. The blinkers coming off should help a filly who can get a bit keen and she should be able to settle much handier from the draw. MEMORABLE MISS was a big improver when the shades went on last start and will appreciate a more genuine tempo. SHORT TALK caught the eye at trials and ran well on debut. FORTY NINER ran some big races without any luck last preparation and resumes first-up no trial here. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – SOMETHINGREADY WIN RACE 3 PLAYING RED likes winning less than North Melbourne and may be a query back to 1000m here but has finished strongly at her three runs back this time in. Maps well, will appreciate a wet track and Chris Parnham sticks. Gets her chance for an overdue victory. PARLAE is an intriguing runner on debut. Heads straight to a Class One, is drawn ideally and hasn’t been seen since an impressive trial win on May 3 when defeating four subsequent winners. My Mate finished second in the trial and was crunched $3.40 into $2.30 first-up before bolting in by nearly four lengths. PAEROA LAD backs up off seven days, drops back slightly in grade and can lead. SCHUHPLATTER is better than what she produced in a pedestrian-walk race last start but maps horribly. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – PLAYING RED WIN RACE 4 GRANRANDELL was a first-up 1200m winner on a Soft6 track two preparations ago and gets similar conditions here. If Rawiller can slide across to land in a prominent position he comes into calculations in a wide-open race and is likely to get under the guard. COUNT THE SESSIONS maps to lead and was a Heavy8 winner three starts ago, albeit in inferior company. Wasn’t disgraced over 1400m last start and is much better suited back to 1200m here. Always have to respect the (Roy) Rogers/Parnham combination. EXCERPT beat up on moderate opposition first-up for new trainer Adam Durrant and maps sweetly. Was a forced scratching as an emergency in a more suitable race at Kalgoorlie on Sunday but has always showed glimpses and might be able to go on with it. Each of SEA WAR’S three wins have been on soft tracks and he trialled particularly well without blinkers. Wolfe yard flying. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – GRANRANDELL EACH-WAY RACE 5 REBEL HEART had to make a sustained run in a very fast-run mile last week and toughed it out well. Backs up off seven days, steps out to 2100m and it wouldn’t surprise if the Impressive Racing team are targeting next Saturday’s Belmont Oaks. SAVVY DAN found a world-perfect assignment last start but still let down with an impressive finish and appears to have some staying ability. ENGLISH HERITAGE is going well but steps out to a staying trip for the first time and has a horror draw to overcome. CROSSARO draws the outside for the fourth-consecutive time and is likely to be spotting most runners a big head start but will be finishing strongly late. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – REBEL HEART WIN RACE 6 WHAT ABOUT MOI drops from a 60+ to a 54+ and rises only 1kg after the claim of Laqdar Ramoly. Resumed with a fast-finishing third to subsequent winner Vane Tempest first-up before working home fairly after having a chequered run last time out but strikes a suitable assignment here. SMILE FOR ME steps up to a mile for the first time but should be able to roll forward in a race without a huge amount of natural speed. PARIS GIRL beat home both Smile For Me and Miss Maranta at her last two starts and meets them 2kg and 1.5kg better here respectively. Looks ready for the mile. MISS MARANTA is often luckless and a hard horse to catch but was rewarded with a strong win last time out. Can she reproduce? Numbers: 6 – 4 – 11 – 1 Suggested Bet – WHAT ABOUT MOI WIN RACE 7 PICCOLA SIGNORA was one of the runs of the meeting in a stronger race last start and is ideally-placed back into Class Three company. She’s a progressive type with a booming finish and should be in the finish again. Looking for Ramoly to round out the card with a race-to-race double. SAID NO ONE EVER was a better run than reads on paper after enduring a torrid run from a wide alley in Saturday grade last start. Was a Soft6 winner over 1600m in this class at his previous outing and maps beautifully here. No surprise to see him bounce back. ALBUKHTURI steps up to a mile for the first time and drops back sharply in grade from consecutive 66+ starts but has a tough draw to overcome. PRETTY FRIAR was very disappointing last start but any of her previous efforts this preparation would be good enough to play a part here. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – PICCOLA SIGNORA WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3,4,5,11 3,4,5,6 1,4,6,11 1,2,3,5,6 Market Market
