Michael Heaton’s Thursday Albany Preview Posted on February 9, 2022February 9, 2022 | Posted by Michael Heaton RACE 1 HOLE IN ONE has placed at each of his three starts and appears to have found his most suitable assignment yet. Looked the winner last time out before getting gunned down late but he should be able to sit over the speed and kick off a big day for Chris Parnham and Adam Durrant. CURRIMUNDI was well-supported late in betting when debuting in the same race and hit the line strongly after covering additional ground. The blinkers go on for his second assignment and he maps much more favourably from the inside draw. SNEAKY FOX has probably been a shade disappointing at his last couple but can roll forward and take luck out of the equation. TAKE ME THERE next best. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – HOLE IN ONE WIN RACE 2 LUVACHAT was just about a good thing beaten on debut two starts ago before crossing from barrier 10 to set a solid tempo in front last time out and tiring late. He drops back to 1100m here which suits and can either lead or breeze. FINAL AUTHORITY was crunched into $1.40 favouritism on debut off the back of a sizzling trial win and either didn’t show up or didn’t appreciate the straight-course at Pinjarra. The second (Dazzling Dane) and third (Disco Donut) placegetters have since won so the form has held up and expecting him to show sharp improvement back around a bend. RARE CASE didn’t get much luck at her first two runs before a plain performance in stronger company last start. It’s not often you see Peters Investments’ runners in an Albany maiden. URBAN WARRIOR is going well but the drop back from 1500m to 1100m is a query. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – LUVACHAT WIN RACE 3 SOVIET SPY has 61kg and an outside draw to contend with but looks to have a class edge on rivals. Won with 60kg two starts ago before carrying 60kg again in stronger grade last start and the wide alley should allow him to drop out the back early before circling the field late. ROCH LEGACY rose 300m four weeks between runs and was only beaten a nose last start. Should get every chance from a perfect draw. REBEL MAN has been hitting the line well and building towards a win over this type of distance and is probably a bit stiff to bump into the first two horses in this class. FEELS HOT an improver up in trip. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – SOVIET SPY WIN RACE 4 TRI FOR US has an awkward draw and map to overcome but has consistently raced in much stronger company throughout her career. Placed to the in-form Cheval De Vega (since won a 72+) in Saturday Graduation grade two starts ago before a runner-up finish last time out and placed in both the Listed Belmont Guineas and Listed Belmont Oaks last winter. WORTH A RISK is flying and proving to be an Albany track specialist but now rises 400m for the first time in her career. CLASSIC JACK should be just about ready at his fourth run back and up to a more suitable distance at his home track. SCREAM IN BLUE has drawn the outside but usually isn’t too far away in these types of races. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – TRI FOR US WIN RACE 5 SILVER BO caught the eye at her WA debut when travelling well in running and looking like being in the finish with the smart Let’sdeal before getting chopped out and held up at a crucial stage in the straight. The barrier here makes it tricky but she’s finished in the money at all three previous second-up runs and is likely to go around at odds. SPECIAL ROYALE hit the line full of running in her debut win and appears to have upside in a race where several runners have had enough chances. BELLE POWER is seriously quick and should lead again but it’s always a question of how long for? SPIRIT OF PROPHECY is a model of consistency and should get a gun run in transit. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – SILVER BO EACH-WAY RACE 6 MR CAUSEWAY has won three of his four starts at Albany and is undefeated over this distance. He was beaten just over a length at Ascot start and now drops in grade and strikes a suitable assignment at his home track. ATHLONE CASTLE might be a 9YO but he’s absolutely flying, has run the fastest last 800m, 600m, 400m and 200m splits at his last three starts and has finished in the money at seven of his 11 runs at this track and distance. GIFTED WARRIOR has the potential to be yet another tried horse who could find a new zest for racing under Roy Rogers. He’s had a few homes and hasn’t won in a little while but has his share of ability. DYNAMITE BAY is going far better than reads on paper, meets Mr Causeway and Athlone Castle 3kg better from their last encounter and Victoria Corver has won aboard him previously. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – MR CAUSEWAY WIN RACE 7 MR MT WALKER looks a wonderful opportunity for new apprentice Luke Campbell to land his first winner. He contested Saturday city races at seven of his eight starts before being beaten a nose in this grade last time out, drops 1.5kg from that effort and has won two of his three starts at the Albany 1500m circuit. CHASING CHAOS is a 10YO veteran of 106 starts but is still racing consistently, rises only 1kg from his last start despite dropping from a 70+ to a 58+ and maps beautifully. LOKI steps up to 1500m for only the second time in his career but is super consistent and should get the run of the race. INFLATION is racing well but has a horror gate to overcome with plenty of natural speed drawn underneath him. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – MR MT WALKER WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3 1,2,5,6,8 1,3,5,7,8,9,10 1,2,3,5 Market Market
