Matt Young’s Tuesday Gloucester Park Preview Posted on March 4, 2025March 4, 2025 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 CAPTAINSHAVTIME (8) has come back in top class form, bumps into a strong field and has a tricky draw but this horse appears to be quite talented and can make the moves required to get the win, confident of a strong showing. PINNY NOIR (2) and FAKENIT (1) have both been trialling up together and are from the powerful Gary Hall Snr stable, both look nice types but are inexperienced and that just takes me away from them a touch. BEATITLIKEBECA (4) is a nice type on return and could have a strong campaign. ISEEUBABY (6) is talented but on return and with an awkward draw, might need this. Tips: 8 4 2 1 Suggested Bet: CAPTAINSHAVTIME (8) to win. Race 2 Open race. STRIKE MASTER (10) is the sole runner off the back line and can work off and get into a decent position early, he is consistent but doesn’t win out of turn, looks a suitable race and should go close. TORREVEAN PINKY (5) is racing soundly, better draw should see her race closer to the speed and represents each way value. APOLOGIZE (6) has come back well, just a bit of a tricky draw for him to work with. ROCKABILITY (7) is on the backup from Friday’s run at Northam, he has plenty of early speed and could improve with fitness. ACOLTNAMEDSU (9) can mix his form but must overcome the wide draw. Tips: 10 5 6 7 Suggested Bet: STRIKE MASTER (10) to win. Race 3 BALINGUP BOY (5) looks set to run a bold race here, his last couple have been solid, and this looks a suitable grade, should go well. BETTOR HAVE FAITH (9) and EYE BETTER (8) have been racing consistently and comes in with claims with even luck from the draw. LUCI KANE (3) has early speed and could potentially lead the event, but the stablemate should be respected as well in RYDER ROSE (1), she continues to improve but this is a further rise in grade again. LADY VALASCA (2) returns and has a decent draw. CAMS BOULDER (6) might need this on return. Tips: 5 9 8 3 Suggested Bet: BALINGUP BOY (5) to win. Race 4 Its chips in for LONGREACH BAY (8) here, he has wonderful early speed and looks a chance to cross these and if he crosses, I think he will win, if he doesn’t cross, he appears to be a different horse off the pegs and things becomes increasingly difficult. The start will tell you the story of the race. RELLIM (4) has come back from his freshen up well and should run a big race here, he has strings to his bow so he might be the safer each way investment. MASTER LEIGHTON (3) won well last time out, if he can hold them out, he would run a bold race. PRINCESS MICKAYLA (5) appears more of a novelty chance in this. CHILLI PUNTER (9) suited by the class but not the draw. WINEGUM (12) returns but is capable. UNDER THE ALTA (7) should be included in novelties. Tips: 8 4 3 9 Suggested Bet: RELLIM (4) each way. Race 5 GRAND MAJESTIC BELLS (10) will be a heart in mouth type watch, but she is the best trotter in the race, she has done things wrong on both her return runs, but this appears more suitable back to a standing start and over the longer journey. I am happy to be with her here. BONNIE RAE (8) is racing well and is probably the more reliable trotter in the field, looks hardest to beat. SELLUNE (9) has been racing in stronger fields but his record from the tapes is what is concerning, safe getaway will see him go well. MAJESTIC MARION (5) not the worst in this and normally is reliable. LAVRADORE (4) is improving, novelty chance. Tips: 10 8 9 5 Suggested Bet: GRAND MAJESTIC BELLS (10) to win. Race 6 TOO FAR AWAY TED (1) has the nice draw and performed well last time out and looks hard to beat in a forward to leading position, can get away with a little bit here and should give them something to catch. CINCH (4) closed off well in the same race last time out, does look the big threat in the race as that run was quite encouraging heading into this. IKES GOT THE MIKE (5) has ability, better run last time out and can hit the line well. WHERES MY HALO (6) next best. Tips: 1 4 5 6 Suggested Bet: TOO FAR AWAY TED (1) to win. Market Market
