Matt Young’s Monday Pinjarra Preview Posted on August 24, 2026August 24, 2026 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 FRENCH MISSILE (3) caught my eye with her debut trial here in the west, fought it out nicely in a good last half against pacers, think she has a good deal of upside and happy to play her here. JUSTLIKEFLAIR (9) was impressive last time in, will learn a lot of that and trialled up well, likes to race on speed and looks unlikely to lead in this but still should be respected. LAVRADORE (4) was dominant in his first win for Michael Young, this class suits and will run a good race in this if he could find the top. Novelty chances to ELISH STAR (2), SKY LINDY (7) and LOTS OF CHANGE (11). Tips: 3-4-9-7 Suggested Bet: FRENCH MISSILE (3) to win. Race 2 CHUGACH (1) returns and has the speed to lead, first up would be the only issue but plenty of three-year-olds he would be track working with a Team Bond to get him ready for this. WAKE UP GEOFF (10) is highly talented, disappointed last time out but expect him to run a big race in this, will be put into it at some stage. WHEELSOFORTUNE (9) should follow through and be close enough and has depth. IDEAL AN ACE (2) has shown promise but looks a novelty chance on return with other chances to TEXAS STORM (4) and a big watch on FEAR THE STORM (6) who is first up for Gary Hall Jnr but has shown promise previously. Tips: 1-10-9-6 Suggested Bet: CHUCAGE (1) to win. Race 3 SOVEREIGN JEWEL (3) is highly talented and has good gate speed, looks a big chance to run to the top and although she is first up, I think she can get the job done. IDEAL DIAMOND (1) has been mixing in her form, but I think her high speed is her best asset and from the draw she should get the run of the race and be somewhat dangerous late. EL RAES GIRL (7) has been able to get some wins on the board some consistent form, she comes in fresh and from a wide draw but think she will get forward and stick on well. Novelty chances to SHEZABECA (8) who is ideally drawn and other chances to SWEETER THE BETTOR (9), TYPHOON TREASURE (11) and NOT SO SWEET (12). Tips: 3-1-7-8 Suggested Bet: IDEAL DIAMOND (1) each way Race 4 IDEAL BEACH (10) was a top class run on return, savaged the line and recaptured that zest we saw him race with as a two-year old, think he will be hard to hold out here and Gary Hall Jnr electing to drive gives extra confidence as the main danger appears to be the lightly raced BUMRAH (1) who while learning the caper is showing above average ability, should be hard to run past. BETTOR BEHAVE (2) is a versatile type and will have a look for the top and if he can’t get that spot, he will still be close enough and be dangerous. GENTLEMANS PROMISE (9) is a top four contender on current form. Tips: 10-1-2-9 Suggested Bet: IDEAL BEACH (10) to win. Race 5 IM CATEGORY FIVE (11) is a very talented filly who needs to overcome a back row, she has done most of her best racing on speed and looks unlikely to get that luxury here, wouldn’t be diving in too short. SHOO BOOZY (1) has come back well and has the good draw, looks hard to catch if she is in front. MAAS ATTACK (12) has retained Aiden De Campo to drive which is a good indicator, she didn’t appreciate the breeze last time out and will be running on well. THE SEA SIREN (7) returns and has depth, can do some work in this and stick on. Novelty chances to SKYHIGH ADDA (2), MA PETITE DAME (5) and TRIXIE DORA (6). Tips: 1-11-12-2 Suggested Bet: SHOO BOOZY (1) to win. Race 6 AMALFI KNIGHT (4) is highly talented and just flourished last preparation, looks incredibly hard to beat in this on return as he is very versatile and really developed strength last campaign to compliment his high speed. EL MYSTRO (10) trialled the house down two weeks ago and his turn of foot should see him charge into the race late. MATERNAL DREAMS (2) has the fitness edge and will be in front again but keeps bumping into one or two better and that could be the case again here. BUTTER ME UP (9) and SOME LINE (6) are top 4 players. Tips: 4-10-2-9 Suggested Bet: 4/2,10/2,10 to Trifecta. Race 7 A PRECIOUS GEM (4) should scoot across to the top and lead this and looks hard to run down, she excelled every time she stepped onto the track and can return off a freshen up with a victory. LIVY ANN (1) is expected to finish in the money, has the speed to lead early and get the run of the race but does bump into some talented types who will likely test her late including ROSIES BETTOR (9) who has a good turn off foot and from the draw will be close enough. JUSTASMOOTH MIKI (6) was solid in her runs back from good draws, will be around the mark. Novelty chances to MISS BEJEWELED (5), DROP THE ACE (2) and SLAY QUEEN (8). Tips: 4-1-6-9 Suggested Bet: A PRECIOUS GEM (4) to win. Race 8 Fascinating contest tactically here. HE IS TALKING (1) is racing at the top of his game and looks the likely leader but his main danger has drawn to his back in TRICKY TEXAS (8) who broke a track record with a win at Northam last run and is really starting to find his rhythm, Does Hall Jnr hand up to put him one spot further back? If he does, who does he sit on is the big question. AMERICAN MACHINE (7) is highly talented on return and would likely win if he can lead but doubt that he will get there, has the depth to be top 3 anyways. WAVES OF FORTUNE (2) and BELIEVE IN BETTOR (9) next best two runners. Tips: 8 1 7 2 Suggested Bet: TRICKY TEXAS (8) to win. Race 9 Open race. DEL BOCAVISTA BAY (12) trialled sensationally on Wednesday and this barrier at the mile is not easy, but his turn of foot might be too powerful for them late. TRIROYALE BRIGADE (1) has had four runs since returning which should’ve tightened him up nicely, looks to lead and goes well in a forward position and expecting him to turn his form around here. MAJOR FREEWAY (8) will follow through and get a good run, has been racing well overall and is a chance. BLUE BLAZER (5) is an interesting runner with his early speed, might try and cross and run well. IDEAL MUSCLE (11) will be running on from the back, currently mixing his form but looks a novelty chance with TUBBS FARQUHAR (3). Tips: 12-1-8-5 Suggested Bet: DEL BOCAVISTA BAY (12) each way. Race 10 SOHO CONFIDENTIAL (6) is racing in top form since returning home to Glenn Elliott, he likes to be on speed and is in the bubble right now, looks hard to hold out again in this. DEE JAYS BIG BOY (3) has been a real marvel for Hayden Reeves and is a model of consistency, will be looking for the top and will run a bold race again. BULL SHARK BETTY (1) has the speed to lead early but will be looking for cover as she can’t absorb the pressure, will get a good look at them is in consistent form. SWITCH BLADE (7) a novelty chance along with TASHS SPARTAN (9), SLIPALONG SAINT (10) and MAJOR OVERS (12). Tips: 6-3-1-9 Suggested Bet: SOHO CONFIDENTIAL (6) to win. Race 11 HEAVENLY BLISS (2) loves this trip and looks the likely leader here; she has been racing well and will be hard to run down. HOOAH (4) is racing well but doesn’t have a great deal of depth therefore he needs to find a cosy spot and come with one run. IDOLISED (7) has returned well for Russell Eddy and must be respected third up after a long layoff and even from the challenging draw. BETTOR WASH UP (10) has shown decent ability but is also a bit hop and skip in his gate, has good high speed and watch the market being first up for Michael Young. CALL TO ARMS (8) follows out a moderate beginner and needs some luck but the grade suits and novelty chance to my favourite, ARISE LAZARUS (6) Tips: 2-4-10-7 Suggested Bet: HEAVENLY BLISS (2) to win.
