CANNINGTON

Race 7 No. 3 West On Gecko

Walked out last week and got too far back. Box again isn’t great but he can show more early than what he did and just needs clean step. Needs to hold the 6 up or sit right on her and he can go well. He also needs to cross the 1 who is ridiculously short for a dog who has a strong middle section but a premium trick bag after that. Run to the first turn sorts this race out.

Race 8 No. 4 Barrio Beast and No. 3 Napoleon Dynamo

The 4 should have won last time. No ifs, maybes, not sure or buts. He was home until stood on his head up the back going for the run. Still adamant he is not a corner start dog but he’s better and faster than these. Clear run wins. The 3 continues to work home each time here and while he lacks the class and brilliance of some of these better grade of dogs, he is a workmanlike campaigner who makes up for it in determination and run home.

Race 10 No. 2 Raining Cash

Rarely wins and gets back but she has two things going for her here. A small field and dogs who don’t really carve the clock up. She just needs to show up a little sooner in the race and she can run home to hit top 2 at a good quote. Nothing silly but worth a play.

Race 11 No. 1 Blackwood Blue

Gets his best chance in some time due to the prime draw here. Racing well for a veteran and still getting himself in the race early with good steps at box rise. Has a super record off the red and can lead or come from just off. He hits the frame here with his usual effort.

Race 12 No. 6 Odds On Brax and No. 3 Leg Press

If ever the start decided a race, it’s right here. These two do their best work on the arm and that best wins this and wins it easily. The 3 is consistent early over 500 but the corner start and shorter trip is a concern while the 6 actually gets a better map here with what’s either side of him and he could spear out here and find the coveted lure spot quickly. That would see him awfully hard to stop.
