Harry Buchanan’s Thursday Greyhound Best Bets

MANDURAH

Race 4 No. 2 Getaway Sticks and No. 8 Zen On

The 2 was excellent here first crack over the 400. Just about got the cash and a repeat and cleaner step sees him a threat. The 8 will appreciate the step up in distance and is well drawn. Will come on strongly with a clear run this time.

Race 5 No. 7 Escapologist

Outstanding win over the 300 here last week. Came out last, circled the field to race away easily in the end. Steps up to 400m now and that’s even better for her. Huge show again and will be a price.

Race 6 No. 7 Notorious Harada and No. 5 Really Sirius

The 7 will be suited to this start with her good box manners and short run to the corner. Rarely run down when she leads and same will apply here if she spears. The 5 showed speed over the 400 but tired and he can give another big sight back over this shorter trip. Box the only issue.

Race 7 No. 4 Rocky Balboa and No. 8 Bazinga Boy

The 4 missed the start his first look where last week. Expect a better beginning from this usually reliable box dog. Hard to catch here if he leads. The 8 is a smokie who could muster around early and take up the running. He can surprise.

Race 11 No. 8 Pumping Gas

Never got into it over the 488 last week. That was much tougher and this is markedly easier and the trip more ideal. Needs to produce this time however and can do so with more early interest.

SANDOWN PARK

Race 4 No. 6 Zoha Bale

Star stayer who should really give these a drubbing. A couple of handy youngsters taking him on but the lesson should be swift and brutal. Only beats himself here.

Race 5 No. 5 Ethanol Water

Part of a very promising litter who drop big middle and last sections. Steps up to the middle trip for the first time and she will charge into this up the back and be a threat to hit the frame.

Race 8 No. 3 Mepunga Smokey

A bit of speed around him but he has a hit himself this bloke. It’s his box manners that need to be on song. Super run last week when finding trouble and he can land closer this time. Great each way bet.

Race 9 No. 4 Ethanol Volume

Another of this good litter who is stepping up and this bloke is arguably stronger. Made monster ground his last few sprint trips and will relish this distance. Will thunder home with any clear luck.

Race 11 No. 8 Zinzan Chopper and No. 7 Scott Me

The 8 is better suited over the 600 but he has some talent and well suited wide. Can sustain a strong run home and this race has some trouble brewing up front. The 7 would be a huge show if this was at the Meadows as this is his first Sandown run. If he handles the track though he will be player. Been racing harder races than this.
