Harry Buchanan’s Saturday Greyhound Best Bets Posted on August 5, 2023August 5, 2023 | Posted by TABtouch CANNINGTON Race 2 No. 2 Disco Trixie and No. 5 Acing Kuna The 2 will improve a stack here off a luckless run last week when drawn off. Has a good set of sections and can settle close here and give these a bit to worry about. The 5 will no doubt make that fast run through the middle and then maintain that grinding pace all the way home. Needs further but can hold the position to hit top 2. Race 3 No. 2 Vander Harley and No. 6 Inside Scoop The 2 is a big smokie here. Tracks the early speed red up and can run into this strongly. Don’t dismiss her as she is under rated and well drawn now. The 6 is running out of chances. Slow early and can find trouble but he has an engine and is well placed off the track. Will be strong late and needs to land close this time. Race 4 No. 3 Super Charge This is his best chance. Several of these want the arm and are not know for their back end strength. Settles in behind here and cuts loose with his customary last section. Needs to get interested a little sooner but shouldn’t miss the frame with any sort of luck at all Race 5 No. 1 Lady Dior and No. 2 Bang The 1 was a fraction disappointing last week when getting straight to 2nd and only taking minimal ground off when she should have torn that margin right down. Boxed better here and can go better than that and is racing well. The 2 is a huge roughie and he’s not hopeless here. Went ok last week for a dog who needs the arm and he just needs a better step this time. If he leads he’s hard to catch. Race 6 No. 7 Getaway Sticks Been racing much better dogs and could spear over into a forward spot. Big price for a dog who won’t stop finding in this company and just needs to offset the corner start to be some threat here. EW player at the quote. Race 7 No. 6 Kanji Giant and No. 8 Raised The 6 was stiff last week and while this isn’t entirely suitable with the smaller field, he is racing better than it looks and will be there at the end with any early luck. The 8 isn’t the most comfortable around the turns here but the small field will help him and he will close off well late. Top 2 player. Race 8 No. 2 Poppa Monno Put in nicely first up over this trip and will improve a bit more here which could be enough to win. Goes fast mid race and just needs a fraction more strength on the run home and he will make his presence felt. Top 2 should be attainable. THE MEADOWS Race 2 No. 2 Cawbourne Domino Very talented youngster who is drawn to strike here. Can lack some dash but recovers quickly and runs big middle and last sections. Already a 2 time winner here and will be in the finish with an ounce of luck. Race 6 No. 8 Kai Bale and No. 1 Gary Stun On First heat of the National Sprint. The 8 is a ludicrous price here. A top grade weapon who was huge last week making up absurd ground in the run home. Can handle all boxes and will be a monster show at the odds on an EW basis. The 1 could lead these and he’s capable of running a cheeky race. If he gets to doubles then he’s worth a small EW spec. It’s chips in the 8 on a place heavy go however. Race 7 No. 2 Zippy Tesla Heat 2 and the 2 is the first threat to the fav if there is one. He is drawn perfectly here and will start his work up the back to run home hard. Getting an EW quote to play the pace heavy card and only needs a clean look to figure in the finish. Race 8 No. 6 Palawa King and No. 5 Wrangler Jane The 6 delivered a knock out blow at his first look here last week. Overcome his usual steady start with that blistering turn of foot mid race to put them to the sword. A repeat sees him win. The 5 is a bolter and while she is up against a few handy ones, she runs on hard and at the big price is worth a small EW spec place heavy. Race 9 No. 4 Xyloid Bale Super hope here. Coming out of strong races, his early speed and ability to stick on strongly see him the one to beat here. Vacant outside and slow beginner inside and he gets every hope right off the mat. Hits top 2 if he steps his best and looks the one. Race 10 No. 1 Serena Bale Drawn to give a sight. Comes out of a much harder race and moves to a better draw in easier company. 4 time winner here and has good run home strength over this trip. Just needs to hold her rails spot early and she will figure in the finish. Race 11 No. 1 Sister Sticker Another who will enjoy the inside box. Tends to get back a little so could land closer this time and her run homes have been super lately. Last 2 efforts in races she was out graded and outclassed in and much better suited here. EW bird with a good step. WENTWORTH PARK Race 5 No. 5 Tarawi Tiger and No. 6 Copious The 5 has only ever missed a place once on his life from 17 starts. Has a great record here and handles all boxes with his good turn of foot off the mat. Goes close. The 6 will storm Into it again and look to hit the frame late. Ultra consistent and will be there with a late charge. Race 6 No. 8 Simply Limelight Box isn’t ideal but the small field is and while he isn’t getting any younger, he is still racing well and can go close in this. Made up many lengths last time from well back and just needs to find his spot quickly to be the one to hold out late. Race 7 No. 5 Father Rick Knows his way around here and another who will enjoy the small field. Was good last time just off the placings and superb behind a very good dog prior. Can show speed and run time and will give a great sight if he steps his best. Race 9 No. 6 Wiradjuri Jack and No. 5 Zipping Sabrina The 6 has been regularly racing better dogs most his career and comes out two very tough provincial races. Goes ok around here and has some speed when he steps. Could lead and give a sight here. The 5 has an outstanding record here and is very strong. Rarely misses the frame and will just need a gap up the back to be a major force running home. The one to beat. Market Market
