Harry Buchanan’s Friday Greyhound Best Bets

MANDURAH

Race 1 No. 8 Sunset Viper and No. 2 Crossing

The 8 sunk the fangs into them from a wide box last week and will repeat the bite again here with a clean step. The 2 is very fast. Can drop a dazzling turn of acceleration and if he’s ready here first up, he will shake the life out of this.

Race 3 No. 4 Barrio Beast

The Beast showed why he doesn’t belong at Cannington last week with a sensational win here coming from near enough to last. Will go better again and can step better too. The one to beat.

Race 4 No. 6 Harley Monelli and No. 7 Flying Freda

The first heat of the Mandurah Cup and too many leaders here and it could get ugly. Some upsets are on the cards tonight and they hopefully start here. The 6 is way over the odds. Was super behind Hinto last week and better suited wide on this corner start. Can stun these on the each way. The 7 will spear out here. Trialled super here and more than enough to win this heat and some and her old box manners will see her lead throughout. Must step though. Chances to 1,2,8 who can advance.

Race 5 No. 7 Halcyon Days and No. 3 Canya Mia

The next heat and this is a huge hope the 7. Tremendous run over the 400 last week when he was as stiff as an arthritic knee on a Winter morning. Trip better and can get around these early and into a striking spot. Each way go for sure. The 3 was also outstanding last week behind Hinto and she could lead this time if she holds the 4 out. She will be hard to catch if she does. Keep her well on side. Chances to 2,5,8 as well to advance.

Race 6 No. 6 Sand Patch, No. 7 Hinto and No. 5 Spider Venom

Keen to bet here with a possible train wreck from boxes 1 to 4 early. The 6 will swish around here if she steps her best and she could get the fly up the back. Good luck running her down over this trip. If she leads, they won’t. The 7 was super here last week and he will come from the back this time but he can. The look last week was a masterstroke. The 5 is the blow out along the fence. Came up with the lids last start and he will prove for inside runs into the back. Massive price and could run a race. Every dog can win this heat. Every single one. Great heat.

Race 7 No. 8 King Tommy and No. 3 Carlecatup

Last heat of the cup and the throne makes it way to the coastal circuit tonight with the King sitting squarely upon it. His first look here but the funny thing about class is that it can carry a dog a long way. Trip is rock bottom in terms of distance as is the price but I simply don’t want to bet against him unless I’m saving. That’s in the form of the 3 who knows how to win. A natural box dog and arm dog, she makes everything work over time if they want to get past her. The King will need to take the crown off for 30 seconds and do some real work here because he will have to. Chance to Crumble in 1 and maybe Katchoo in 7 who might spark with a track change.

Race 8 No. 2 Bang

Gee he was good last week as I expected when getting back to a straight start. Boxed better this time and he can step better as well. Look for him to find the arm early and he will take some stopping this week. He’s ready and will be a price too.

Race 9 No. 5 Returning Tide and No. 7 Golden Chopstick

The 5 resumed last week here and he was superb. Made sustained ground on the way home and one turn racing agrees with him as does this track. Improves again to go close here. The 7 was chopsticked out of it at the first turn here last week. Was about to get into a striking spot when it all went wrong. Can atone and box is fine.

Race 11 No. 2 Grass Patch and No. 4 Teflon Sunny

The 2 is frustrating. Led easily last week then again ran off straightening and walked to the line somewhat to go under. Time seemed good though so giving her one more go to sort that home turn out. Goes fast after box rise. The 4 was big last week. Made huge ground against a handy type and ran a great 2nd at his first go here. He will be charging into this again and can surprise.

Race 12 No. 5 Sunset Mirage and No. 6 Stevie Monelli

The 5 swept up quickly last week and showed why this is a fast dogs track. Gave them a drubbing and can repeat the dose again with a good getaway. The 6 will enjoy this circuit I think. Heavy check last start and will appreciate more room to operate here. Well boxed wide and can run into this without surprising.

THE MEADOWS

Race 6 No. 7 Tinker Fran and No. 4 Midnight Rocker

Don’t be shocked to see the 7 spear across here and get away after she gets through that horrid flat spot she has 100m after the start. This trip suits much better too. The 4 is a good dog who is needing one more run but he’s better than these at his top and he’s not that far off it. Fitness the only issue.

Race 7 No. 5 Running Dynasty

Great run last week. Just went under behind a handy dog and she came from well back too. Normally gets up there early and can give this a shake. Racing well and can win or at least place again.

Race 8 No. 2 Fabs Vegetable and No. 6 Sephora Bale

The 2 is airborne at the present. Incredibly went 29.8 at the Meadows and got beaten. Not by much either so he was stiff to go down running those figures. He can be a little tardy early but he’s good once mobile and very strong. The 6 was also very good last week. She steps well but lacks some pace until she gets into her work again and can hit the line hard. Smaller field helps and she’s a chance here to hit top two.

Race 10 No. 5 Rippin’ Grace and No. 1 Aston Michigan

It’s a wonder the 5 stayed on her feet in the Hume Cup. She hit the fence that hard it was the rail that was almost injured. Remarkable to see her pick herself up and pass a few on the way home. Thrown in here and as long as she fit and well, she should win. The 1 will give a big sight if he steps and holds the arm early. Doesn’t quite see the 700 out so back to this trip and huge plus. Don’t ignore him now.
