Greg’s Ascot Preview Posted on February 17, 2017February 17, 2017 | Posted by Greg Hooper RACE 1 This is as weak as a field you’ll ever find on a Saturday card. YOU NO WHAT I MEAN trialled well for his return and he should park right on the speed and give a big sight. JUST LIKE THAT has competed in better class of races than this. He was asked for little in a recent trial. MADAM WINKS showed speed in her trial effort where she finished right next to You No What I Mean. MIXED MESSAGES is suited over further however she should be able to get over the majority of these on ability alone. Numbers – 1 – 5 – 10 – 6 Suggested Bet – YOU NO WHAT I MEAN AND JUST LIKE THAT RACE 2 UNDISCLOSED was very impressive at her first two starts including a runaway win up the Pinjarra straight. She then raced flat and was subsequently found to be lame. She can tag the speed and on her best form she’s the one to beat. BELTER worked hard into a big sou-wester last start and did a good job to finish on the heels of the placegetters. Suspect the drop back to 1000m is a positive and Jarrad Noske jumping back aboard certainly is. CODE VIOLATION is definitely one who is suited with the drop back to 1000m after he led and opened up the field last week in the Magic Millions before falling in a hole late. He will give these something to chase down. ATACAMA SKY Numbers – 3 – 2 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – UNDISCLOSED SAVE BELTER RACE 3 GALAXY STAR looks a highly promising type who has produced two big wins at both her starts. She should make it a winning hat trick. KEY TO FAME can lead or breeze and is a terrific place chance. PRIME WITNESS is racing well and should get a pie run from gate 1. STAR GLITTER is on the quick back up from a narrow defeat over 1000m on Wednesday. Numbers – 10 – 1 – 11 – 3 Suggested Bet – GALAXY STAR WIN RACE 4 RECOILED ruined his winning chances at many of his starts last campaign after being slow away and not seemingly being able to handle the bends well when back in the field. He showed plenty of speed in his recent trial win and if he can jump well and land close to the speed suspect he’s the best horse in the race. JUST ACT NATURAL is a tough on speed galloper. He leads and is the one to catch. PRETENTIOUS CHANT has plenty of ability. He’ll likely sit off the speed from a wide draw but watch him finding the line. MARCHAND is capable and he tag Just Act Natural from gate 1. Numbers – 8 – 6 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – RECOILED SAVE JUST ACT NATURAL RACE 5 Very tough start to the quaddie. TANJIER has drawn the car park however suspect he’s the best horse in the race and he does have the inform Chris Parnham aboard. SONNEN was terrific in defeat fresh carting wide throughout and going down narrowly. From a better draw he should get it much softer. POINT is limited but from a good draw and Pike on he’s in the finish again. WAYSIDE was solid first-up and with natural improvement can get into the placings. Suggested – 5 – 9 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – TANJIER AND SONNEN RACE 6 This looks a very evenly matched Cyril Flower Stakes. RED ORA ran well first-up in the Mungrup Sprint. Getting down to 54.5kg is a luxury for him and from a good draw Chris Parnham should have him coiled up and ready to strike. DURENDAL is bursting to win a local race. From barrier 2 he gets cover and can be produced late. GREAT SHOT ran solidly in the lead ups to the Railway Stakes over the carnival. DIVINE CALLING made an auspicious local debut. He rises to 60.5kg however Dan Staeck will give him every chance from a good draw. Numbers – 6 – 2 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – RED ORA AND DURENDAL RACE 7 This looks a very open running of the Challenge Stakes. REGAL MOON attacks this off just two career starts but at both starts she has showed she has a serious turn of foot. A middle draw in a big field looks ideal and Pike selects her over a few other options. PRECIOUS MEMORIES was terrific over 1200m last start. The rise to 1500m is ideal. She has the premium form lines for the race. GLIMMER GIRL has returned in top fashion this campaign and has won a 1400m trial since her last race win. RAGAZZO D’ORO the big improver from a good draw. Numbers – 14 – 9 – 12 – 2 Suggested Bet – REGAL MOON WIN RACE 8 MAJINIKA was very impressive fresh defying an enormous betting drift to lead all the way. From gate 1 with plenty of natural speed he should tag the speed and be hard to hold out late. MATERIAL MAN is a quality galloper and he’s been given two trials for his return. BARAKI BEATS leads again and can give a big sight. SETTLERS CREEK is always a chance at this level. Numbers – 9 – 3 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – MAJINIKA WIN [button class=”bet-now” style=”btn-default btn-lg” type=”link” target=”false” title=”Bet Now!” link=”https://www.tabtouch.com.au/racing/2017-02-18/pr” linkrel=””]
