Gloucester Park 8 April Posted on April 8, 2016 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1: CALL OUT MS PACE STARLIGHT BRIGADE (4) resumed from a spell with a 1.55.1 win before a good 2nd in slick time. He wasn’t suited racing back in the field last start but draws to be close to the pace and drops in class tonight. PAID TWICE (2) has been racing consistently in strong mares company and can figure here. FIVE STAR LOOKA (1) should be thereabouts from the draw, while EL SUNAMI (11) was a good 2nd last start and can be placed. Tips: 4 2 1 11 Suggested Bet: PAID TWICE (2) each way. Race 2: CHILL FACTOR MS PACE DENNY CRANE (9) has won five of his nine starts this campaign and is the class runner of the field. He worked hard in quick time when well beaten last start but can bounce back here. ANOTHER AYJAY (7) has impressed at his two WA runs and will be competitive again. SWIMBETWEENTHEFLAGS (5) is racing well without winning but can break through with the right run. OUR BIG SLOW (8) has won his last two in style but will need luck in running from this draw. Tips: 9 7 5 8 Suggested Bet: DENNY CRANE (9) to win. Race 3: OLIVE FARM WINES NICE DROP MARES MS PACE DELIGHTFUL JADE (11) ran on well when 3rd to Major Reality last start in very quick time. She is likely to settle near the rear again but there should be a hot early tempo that will enable her to be right there at the finish. STRAITTOTHEHILTON (4) is racing consistently and should get a nice run in transit. ALL ABOUT PINK (3) loves the distance and will give them something to catch if she can find the lead. GIULIANA RANCIC (5) has the ability but has been over racing and will be suited by the sprint distance. Tips: 11 4 3 5 Suggested Bet: DELIGHTFUL JADE (11) each way. Race 4: TEAM MURRAY CONDITIONED HANDICAP SS PACE CASEY ISABELLA (3) is a standing specialist who won three in a row from the tapes before a fair effort from the mobile last start. She goes up in class on her recent wins but draws the front line and will be hard to beat if she finds the front in a wide open affair. WALTZING WITH CULLEN (6) was a very good last start stand winner in quick time and should represent value. MAJOR CATASTROPHE (10) and AVALON BROMAC (11) are both racing well and should be thereabouts from their 10m handicaps. Tips: 3 6 10 11 Suggested Bet: CASEY ISABELLA (3) each way. Race 5: SMORGASBORD WA DERBY PRELUDE MS PACE LETS CHASE THE DREAM (10) has sensational form in NZ for the all-conquering Purdon stable and has his first start in WA tonight. He is drawn awkwardly but will be extremely hard to beat with any luck in running. OVERBOARD AGAIN (1) also makes his Australian debut and while he doesn’t have the same form lines, he does have a blistering Byford trial under his belt and should give them something to catch. IDEAL TYSON (5) and LIGHTNING JOLT (11) are both capable on their night if they get the right run in transit. Tips: 10 1 5 11 Suggested Bet: LETS CHASE THE DREAM (10) to win. Race 6: MSP SWITCHBOARD MS PACE MACON GEORGIA (1) is a bit one-dimensional as he is rarely in the money unless he leads but he gets that chance tonight. He has won and ran 2nd in good time the last two times he has found the front and should give a great sight here. CHANGE STRIDE (10) went 1.53.1 last start when leading throughout and will be dangerous if he sees daylight in the last lap. IDEAL ALICE (12) will be fitter for her first up run and can be in the finish. BETTOR PARTY (2) would be extremely hard to catch if he led but can still be competitive with the right run. Tips: 1 10 12 2 Suggested Bet: MACON GEORGIA (1) each way. Race 7: CELEBRATING MELISSA RENOUF MS PACE ELEGANT CHRISTIAN (8) pushed forward to the breeze from a wide draw and was a very game 2nd in 1.53.1 over the sprint trip last week. This field is no stronger and he will be suited by the extra 400 metres. CHIEF THUNDERCLOUD (9) had a torrid run last start but his previous form is good enough for this. PHOENIX WARRIOR (6) didn’t perform at his best last campaign but has plenty of ability and will be competitive if right. COURAGE TELLS (7) is absolutely flying but will need some luck from out here. Tips: 8 9 6 7 Suggested Bet: ELEGANT CHRISTIAN (8) to win. Race 8: REMOTE AND RURAL MS PACE LETTUCERIPRITA (12) hasn’t finished further back than 2nd in his six starts this campaign and his last two starts have been particularly impressive, culminating in his 1.55.7 win last week. He has drawn the back line but has the strength to be put into the race at the right time and is the one to beat. SIR TOSTI MACH (8) has won four of his last five and will be steaming home again. THREE BLIND MICE (6) and IMA TRAGEDY (1) finished 3rd and 4th respectively behind SIR TOSTI MACH (8) last start and can be in the money again. Tips: 12 8 6 1 Suggested Bet: SIR TOSTI MACH (8) each way. Race 9: SLATER GARTRELL SPORTS JAKE & LOLA THE JOHNSON FILLIES AND MARES QUALIFYING HEAT 1 QUITE A DELIGHT (9) is a classy mare who was a gallant 2nd to The Parade in 1.53.2 in the Golden Girls Classic. She has the strength to overcome her wide draw and is clearly the one to beat. SOVEREIGN FAITH (8) will be hoping to get a cart into the race on the back of the favourite and would be hard to hold out under that circumstance. Stablemates LADY WILLOUGHBY (2) and DELUXE EDITION (1) ran 1st and 2nd in a similar event at their last starts and have the draws to be in the finish again. Tips: 9 8 2 1 Suggested Bet: QUITE A DELIGHT (9) to win. Race 10: SKOPE REFRIGERATION TROTTERS DISCRETIONARY HANDICAP ARMED FORCE (7) isn’t the most reliable trotter but he has been doing things right recently and has won four of his last five. He beat a similar field the mobileat his last run and should repeat the dose tonight if he handles the stand. ENJOY A COLDIE (8) had his chance last start when 4th to ARMED FORCE (7) but won’t be far away again. THE TRUTH (1) won two on end before making mistakes at his last two but will be in the finish if he trots smoothly. EARL HARBOUR (6) has been placed at his last three and should be thereabouts. Tips: 7 8 1 6 Suggested Bet: ARMED FORCE (7) to win. Bet Now!
