Deane Lester’s Best Bets for Sandown Posted on April 8, 2016 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Preview RACE 4 NO.4 DEMONSTRATE DEMONSTRATE should be improved by one run back from a spell and appeals as the best bet of the day when he runs in the 3YO Handicap (1300m). The John O’Shea trained galloper resumed with a luckless second behind the talented STELLAR COLLISION over 1200 metres at Moonee Valley on March 24. That will prove to be a strong form reference and DEMONSTRATE’s wide path around the home turn proved costly. He handles all track conditions and will run this distance strongly; sure to run well again. RACE 7 NO.2 HARD ROMP Reliable sprinter HARD ROMP kicks off his 2016 campaign when he runs in the Infohub Handicap (1000m) and looks the value runner of the day. The six year old has very solid statistics for this race; six fresh runs for two wins and three placings, whilst his five runs at this track and distance have yielded two wins and three placings. His recent trials would suggest that he is going well and his is proven at handling the undulations of the testing Sandown Hillside circuit. His good tactical speed will see him make his own luck and HARD ROMP is well placed to make a winning return at nice odds. RACE 9 NO.10 ATLANTIS DREAM It is a case of same time next year for ATLANTIS DREAM when she runs in the Open Handicap (1600m). Whilst this meeting was conducted at Flemington last year, the Darren Weir trained mare ran 2nd in the corresponding race behind the highly talented SILVERBALL. She then went on to win the Group 2 Queen Of The South Stakes at Morphettville, a race that she will again be targeting. Her recent first-up second over 1400 metres at Bendigo on March 19 was first rate and indicative that this lightly raced mare is back to her best form. The extra distance of this race suits and ATLANTIS DREAM looks a strong each way chance again. Bet Now
