RACE 1

HARD KICK has been impressive in all his jumpouts for Lindsay Park, the 2YO can hold a gallop and quicken off it and comes here with the experience of a sighter up the Flemington straight where he was very professional winning a jumpout. SHAH JAHAN is on debut, two jumpouts have been soft, improving between each, big market watch for a hot stable & rider combination. ZAMBALES has the race experience, tried hard on debut at Randwick, hard to line form up. GRINZINGER HEART is worth respecting from her jumpouts.

RACE 2

Strong tempo expected which sets up well FIORENOT to complete a hat trick of wins, up in grade he gets firm track conditions to suit. TAKA SPEED has been ridden positive his past few starts, a wide draw could see him get back and has a good finish when given clear air. TARVUE gave away any advantage coming back in trip by taking a sit at Caulfield, will be among the speed battle and is hard fit. A race with a long tail.

RACE 3

Good race between the two at the top of the weights. SASS APPEAL is very progressive, big strong filly and heavily-backed at Flemington when finding the right race with the right map. She’ll have a tactical advantage over OLE DANCER the proven performer, suited by the small field, barrier is sticky. CUSTOM was solid fresh in the G3 Manfred in an even finish and then the race opens up from there.

RACE 4

IMMORTAL STAR has struck winning form for the Maher stable has a good profile on the Flemington straight track. Drawn low, she’ll race on-speed and only a moderate tempo expected so may play into her favour. JENNYANYDOTS found the pace too hot over 955m at Cranbourne, generally improves after a run and appreciating a softer speed. UMGAWA will sit off and charge late, he looks to be near his best form for the new stable. PHOTOGRAPH first-up, watch betting.

RACE 5

GREAT MAXIMUS is well-placed switching states, no luck fresh then a sound effort close-up in the Durbridge Stakes last start at WFA, he is a winner third-up and has straight track experience, D Lane a key rider booking. RUE DE ROYALE is a strong winning chance on the proviso he jumps with field which is no guarantee. FISSION surprised everyone with a return to form two back at Flemington then followed it up in higher grade, he’s worth sticking with. MOWDOWN & NDOLA have minor claims.

RACE 6

BERKELEY SQUARE ran well last start with the race shape against, the ride was excellent, put into the race early and stuck on in 3rd, returning to Flemington is a positive. A good race and good map for SAINT GEORGE to complete a hat-trick of wins, the 2500m is the only concern. STYLISH is an improving stayer and well-ridden on-speed winning at Caulfield when up in class and down in weight. He deserves respect up in grade again. NEWFOUNDLAND is the likely leader and going ok.

RACE 7

Barriers and early positions play a key role at the 1400m start with a short run to the bend, no obvious speed runners makes it tricky. JUSTADEEL improves second-up and may look to be on-speed after sitting off Regal Zeus last time and one-batted to the line. MATCHA LATTE the interstate visitor has led previously, the wide draw may force Damian Lane’s hand. SABAJ is an exciting horse, the map is ugly from gate 1, he will need luck getting through but is good enough to sprint best. CAFE MILLENIUM had market expectation fresh off a forward trial, next best.

RACE 8

What a race! Group 1 spoils yet no pure 1000m horses in this race. The speed is just fair so a case of who has the best turn of foot. The colt TENTYRIS had a prep targeted to the Coolmore and produced when it counted. At 1000m he’s a query but does appear ready to go. GIGA KICK returned to his best last campaign and his recent Caulfield trial was outstanding pulling away from MY GLADIOLA who is a proper straight track horse and she can sprint sharply off a modest speed, the synthetic hoof filler adds doubt. BEIWACHT & MARHOONA are on-speed, the latter impressive in a recent trial. Many chances.

RACE 9

Key runner SIXTIES, the Flying Artie colt launched off a solid speed with his light weight and won easy first-up in benchmark company. He was snagged there but can race on-speed, await the change of tactics, if going back from the draw he is dictated to by pace & pattern. ASAKURA does plenty wrong with his high head carriage and continues to win, showed a sharp turn of foot at Geelong last start, a tricky draw up in grade. ROMANTIC ENCOUNTER was too bad to be true fresh, can improve sharply and will join WEST OF SWINDON in the speed battle.

RACE 10

Good tempo expected. WROTE TO ARATAKI won this race last year second-up. She was backed at a price at Caulfield first-up sharing lead to win, can take a sit here and be equally-effective from a good draw. Queenslander PHILLIA won a recent Cranbourne jumpout coming from off the speed, her pattern is to be forward, sure to be fit and giving a sight with top weight. PARADISE CITY landed the cash at Pakenham chasing a tearaway leader, had pace to suit and likely to get similar. TOO DARN DISCREET is a big watch in the parade, if fit enough, she’s drawn to strike.
