Deane Lester’s Moonee Valley Best Bets Posted on September 30, 2021September 30, 2021 | Posted by Deane Lester RACE 2 NO.4 GET ON THE GAS GET ON THE GAS appeals as a value runner when he contests the 3YO Benchmark 64 Handicap (1533m). The son of Shamus Award has been placed at two of his three run this campaign and comes off a luckless 6th behind CUBAN LINK over 1420 metres at Flemington on September 22. The Lloyd Kennewell trained gelding is drawn for a cheap run which is important when the rail is in the 7 metres position around the tight Valley circuit. It’s a competitive race but GET ON THE GAS looks a terrific each way chance. RACE 5 NO.7 EASY SINGLE EASY SINGLE is a progressive sprinter for the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace stable that is striving for a hat track of wins when he tackles the Benchmark 64 Handicap (955m). The four year old has only had four starts for two wins and two placings and comes off having recorded a brave win at his last start over 975 metres at Swan Hill on September 10. After the claim for in-form apprentice Josh Richards, he drops 1kg on his last run and should use his natural speed again from the inside draw. He’s a fit, in-form horse and EASY SINGLE is ideally placed to continue on his winning way. RACE 6 NO.6 HE’S THE REAL DEEL HE’S THE REAL DEEL is enjoying a fruitful campaign and can bounce back to winning form when he runs in the Benchmark 78 Handicap (1600m). The five year old started his campaign with consecutive wins at Sandown before a solid second behind FRANKIE PINOT over 1400 metres at Sandown on September 1. At his last start, the Matthew Brown trained gelding missed the start which put him into an awkward spot before, ultimately, finishing a luckless 7th behind EXCELIDA over 1420 metres at Flemington on September 22. He is ready for this longer distance and gets the services of Brian Higgins in the saddle, who enjoyed success aboard the son of Dundeel earlier in the campaign. He should race handy and produce another bold showing. Market Market
