Deane Lester’s Caulfield Best Bets Posted on August 27, 2021August 27, 2021 | Posted by Deane Lester RACE 2 NO.12 MISS INBETWEEN The best value chance of the day may well be MISS INBETWEEN when she resumes from a spell in the Benchmark 78 Handicap (1100m). The daughter of Fighting Sun has only won two of her 15 starts to date, however she has often contested good class races and been far from disgraced. She has been given a quiet trial at Cranbourne on August 9 in preparation for this race and champion rider Craig Williams takes the mount. It’s a competitive race with a host of chances and MISS INBETWEEN is certainly one of those in the mix at good odds. RACE 4 NO.1 ARTORIUS Blue Diamond winner ARTORIUS represents the class runner when he contests the McNeil Stakes (1200m) and can provide the Freedman family their 7th win in the race. The son of Flying Artie has had an official trial at Cranbourne and a jumpout at Flemington leading into this race and looks primed to make a winning return to racing. Elite rider Luke Currie is reunited with ARTORIUS who appeals as the best bet of the day. RACE 9 NO.11 AYRTON AYRTON makes his much anticipated return to the track when he runs in the Open Handicap (1400m) and should launch his spring campaign in winning style. The four year old enjoyed a Queensland winter campaign culminating in a dominant win in the Gunsynd Classic (1600m) at Eagle Farm on June 12. He has had two impressive trials leading into this race and John Allen gets the chance to ride this exciting son of Iffraaj. There looks good speed in this race which should allow AYRTON to get into a good galloping rhythm, finish strongly and send Caulfield punters home on a winning note. Market Market
