Michael Heaton’s Tuesday Broome Preview Posted on August 11, 2025August 11, 2025 | Posted by Michael Heaton RACE 1 STAR HOSTESS led for a long way before getting collared late over 1100m last start and the drop back to 1000m here looks suitable. She should be able to bounce to the top again and give them something to catch. SHASFA looks the breeze horse and will likely be stronger over the concluding stages. Nice win at Carnarvon two starts back and the 1300m last time out appeared a bridge too far. FIRE THE GUARD took a long time to break through but did it in style and might be able to go on with it now. TORQUED UP was unlucky at Roebourne. Numbers: 7-6-2-1 Suggested Bet – STAR HOSTESS WIN RACE 2 Hard to go past UNIVERSAL PLAYBOY. His last two wins have been massive and whilst he’s up to 60kg now, he’s had the wood on his rivals and looks set to lead again. FAMEUX brings alternate form coming from higher graded sprints at Roebourne and Port Hedland where he ran well. He’ll stalk the speed and look the danger at some stage. OCEAN OUTLAW has been no match for Universal Playboy to date but gets big weight swings on him here after the claim. VALAROC was a good run at price last start. Numbers: 2-1-7-9 Suggested Bet – UNIVERSAL PLAYBOY WIN RACE 3 SPICE IS RIGHT looks mighty hard to beat. Brought solid grass form to the Kimberley and won with an air of authority with 61.5kg at his first start on the dirt. He stays in the same grade here, drops 1kg after the claim and young Natika Riordan continues to grow in confidence. SMART SHADOW covered ground at Port Hedland last start but still stuck on well and looks better suited up to 1435m. SCHUHBECK hit the line nicely from a long way back behind Spice Is Right. MOMENT IN THE SUN is still a maiden but getting close to a win. Numbers: 1-5-9-4 Suggested Bet – SPICE IS RIGHT WIN RACE 4 Speculating QUEEN NARDI first up on the dirt for Anthony Barton who has a brilliant record with tried horses. She’s a stayer who can sprint well fresh and first up last campaign she was held up late but still only beaten 1.7 lengths in a metro 60+ at Belmont. IMA WILD GIRL had to do a stack of work from a wide alley last start but has drawn to lead here and was going very well previously. APHRODITE MAGIC got too far back at her first start on the dirt but got going late and will appreciate the extra 100m. MARINES CRY has the speed to get to the breeze and gets a considerable weight pull on her main dangers. Numbers: 1-2-3-4 Suggested Bet – QUEEN NARDI WIN RACE 5 MOCHA DREAM looks primed to peak in his main aim third-up from a spell. He made huge ground first up when running the fastest last 200m of the day before striking a tricky race that was difficult to make ground in last time out. He’ll likely settle a long way back but should be kept out of trouble and they look destined to go hard up front so he should get the last crack at them. BORDER CONTROL has won five straight at Port Hedland and has both versatility and X-factor. The stable won this race last year with a horse with a similar profile. CHOIXWAY was a beaten favourite in the Derby Sprint but was looking for more ground and now drops a stack in weight from recent starts. Stablemate BIN SHALAA is a model of consistency. Numbers: 9-4-10-8 Suggested Bet – MOCHA DREAM EACH-WAY RACE 6 LONG KNIFE BROTHER was some run at his first start at Broome. The 11YO was 7 lengths off them at the 400m mark but rocketed home in the fastest closing splits of the day to be beaten only a length at the finish. He’ll likely get a long way back again and will need a lot to go right to win but he gets an extra 200m and drops 3kg so happy to play him each-way. KIA ORA TATOU has been a model of consistency all preparation and the booking of Tash Faithfull catches the eye. Has the option to kick through and lead or stalk the speed from his low draw. BIG CITIES hit the line strongly at Port Hedland last start. ROMMEL’S JEUNEY drops back sharply in trip but can still be on-speed for a long way. Numbers: 6-1-2-7 Suggested Bet – LONG KNIFE BROTHER EACH-WAY Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1 1,2,3,4 2,4,5,8,9,10 1,2,4,6,7,8 Market Market
