Darren Clayton’s Saturday Albion Park Preview Posted on May 6, 2022May 6, 2022 | Posted by Darren Clayton Race 1 ROCK BOTTOM (12) will need to be at his best from the tough gate but is going well enough. An all the way winner two starts back, he was hitting the line hard last time when just 2m in arrears. SQUIRE (3) can be much closer from this alley and his recent efforts have been sound, not beaten far after working hard two runs back and then chasing against the tempo last time. BEAU CISHLOM (2) has been facing wide gates, a mix of bad draws and his own manners from the ODM. An improved gate can be the catalyst for a sharper return. BELLA BALL TERROR (11) picked a few off along the passing lane last start when resuming for 3rd and should be fitter following the first up effort. Selections: 12-3-2-11 Suggested Bet: ROCK BOTTOM (12) to win Race 2 THREE IN HEAVEN (3) had the perfect sit on Juddy Douglas three starts back and bloused him on the wire. In both runs since that win, he has been beaten by the barrier and with the improved gate profiles to give this a shake. COURAGEOUS SAINT (9) was runner-up to Rock Bottom last start after stalking his every step. All his best chasing efforts have been when working wider in the stretch, the map looking to match the pattern. THE IDEAL DANCER (5) was denied the win here on Tuesday after setting the speed, with the winner allowed to keep the cash. He is going well enough to again challenge. JUDDY DOUGLAS (10) is in great form and was strong to the line wide off the track last start when just 3m from the winner and again cops the tough gate. Selections: 3-9-5-10 Suggested Bet: THREE IN HEAVEN (3) to win Race 3 FALCONS (1) looks to have finally landed the alley to capitalise upon in this grade. Not suited when midfield in the run last time, his closing power is a good asset for this contest. AIR TIME (11) was only 8m from It Aint The Money two starts back before winning her eon Tuesday. This is possibly easier than that win, the gate is the stinger. GIVE ME A MINUTE (3) is trained out of NSW and arrives with a last start 3rd at Newcastle and brings the speed to fire the early bullets. IM JIMMY JAMES (8) chases a threepeat of victories and maps to be tucked away ready to search for the gaps in the stretch. Selections: 1-11-3-8 Suggested Bet: FALCONS (1) to win Race 4 NORTHVIEW HUSTLER (2) has been in top form since switching barns and was strong to the line chasing in the track record run last week. Making metres from the fence, he looks the leader here and with a nice record in front at this trip, it is hard to see where the pressure comes from. TURN IT UP (8) will be chasing at some stage, likely to ease away from the pegs as the lone second line runner. In super form, he just needs some tempo in the run. TOMMY LINCOLN (1) should appreciate this at the middle-trip after holding 4th from the pocket trail last week over the flying mile behind Blacksadance. L L COOL J (6) was the only runner to make ground wide out last start where all the action was along the pegs but is stung with the 6. Selections: 2-8-1-6 Suggested Bet: NORTHVIEW HUSTLER (2) to win Race 5 THE DARLING (10) receives no favours from outside the second line, but her form is faultless, yet to miss the money in 10 starts since arriving with Ron Sallis. 3rd last week despite finding no space, she can arrive. PRINCESS DANICA (5) might just be going better than what her numbers suggest, not much really going in her favour and forced to race what may be against her best pattern. DELIGHTFUL REASON (1) was only beaten a lip behind Franco Nandor last start with the ace gate in her favour. TORQUE ONETWOTHREE (2) won a mare’s race two starts back and might have the early speed to lead. Selections: 10-5-1-2 Suggested Bet: THE DARLING (10) to win Race 6 FRANKIE FEROCIOUS (1) was allowed to remain comfortable on debut and never pushed at any stage when scoring a smart victory. He lands all the options. THE TAX CULLECTOR (4) found the front last start when second up and after a steady time early dialled it up in a slick 27.6 last split for a classy victory. KERBANG (8) is doing everything on raw ability at present, yet to really get the gist of what the racing caper is all about. Rattling home last week, he can take more progression. HOLD ON TO YA BLING (6) was runner-up to Frankie Ferocious on debut and franked the form with victory at his next start, while FOR REAL LIFE (5) looks to have his share of ability after just going too hard first up Selections: 1-4-8-6 Suggested Bet: FRANKIE FEROCIOUS (1) to win Race 7 GOTTA GO MILKING (9) has two wins in his five starts this season and placed in each of the others. Finding the front and leading throughout from barrier 6 last time, he might just be able to pinch a race that has many permutations. CLASS TO THE MAX (8) has been stung from this gate with the likely map hard against him. Placed behind Tims A Trooper at his past two, finding space is a big concern. I AM SPARTA (2) continues to throw up more questions than he answers, the latest where he was going to lead on Thursday but jumped a peg or a shadow and ended his day. SO MUCH MORE (5) is approaching the zone of just being a perennial placegetter after again coming up short last start. Selections: 9-8-2-5 Suggested Bet: GOTTA GO MILKING (9) to win Race 8 TALENT TO SPARE (7) has a super record when able to find the front in her races and importantly gets back to mare’s grade after a tough run last time outside Adam Crocker. She has the speed and ability to nullify the gate. CLOWNS TO THE LEFT (8) found the front from gate 6 last start and once in control held on to claim victory. Set to be locked away this time, she will need some space. GIRLS ARE BEST (9) is a five-time winner with four of those coming in succession at the end of her last preparation. A handy 2nd when resuming, this will be her first Qld appearance. BONNIES A ROCKIN (1) stepped up to qualifying company last start and was just 4m from the winner and lands an improved gate. Selections: 7-8-9-1 Suggested Bet: Flexi trifecta 7 / 1-8-9 / 1-3-8-9 Race 9 CRUNCH TIME (4) tackled the FFA last week and was sectionally strong in the latter stages behind Blacksadance. Back to this grade and with a strong record at the trip provides a strong winning profile. STREITKID (5) held the front two runs back and had the speed on to take them all the way with subsequent new track record holder Blacksadance in the vanquished. He might be push button enough off the arm to land the first blow. BITCOIN (7) is in career best form and added a minor in FFA company last start when punching home along the pegs. The grade suits, the gate does not. ANOTHER STATEMENT (9) sat parked last start and was able to graft out a determined 3m victory. A solid tempo will help. Selections: 4-5-7-9 Suggested Bet: CRUNCH TIME (4) to win Race 10 LOVE YOUR WORK (9) looks too strong for his rivals for this APG Final after demolishing them in the heat with a career best 1.53 mile and posting a 21m winning margin. Will be put into the contest early. AUNTY BELLA (4) was not asked for much in her heat run which was on an interstate 3 day back-up and a nice close-out behind Jasper. Acclimatising since her arrival, she will be more positive for this. GIRL FORM OZ (2) held 3rd to Jasper in the heat and has since tackled another mare’s race when holding on for 3rd. The gate helps her chances. DANCINTOTHEBEAT (3) was another eye catcher last start when charging home to be half-neck away. Selections: 9-4-2-3 Suggested Bet: LOVE YOUR WORK (9) to win Race 11 KINGDOM COME (2) started from 30m under last weeks conditions and rattled home to be just 3m from the winner. This week’s conditions see him off the front tape and his manners will see him right near the action. JUSTABITNOISY (4) is the other winner on paper with these conditions, beaten 7m last week after coming from the 40m impost and meeting that winner on equal terms. STRESS FACTOR (1) put it together last week- stepping cleanly, finding the front, dictating and holding on to score. He maintains the front tape and this is over the same trip. GARLAND GREENE (9) looked sharp in a trial on Tuesday, hitting the line strongly in the stretch. Close up behind Van Sank for 2nd last start, 30m looks achievable. Selections: 2-4-1-9 Suggested Bet: KINGDOM COME (2) to win Market Market
