Darren Clayton’s Albion Park Preview Posted on September 17, 2021September 17, 2021 | Posted by Darren Clayton RACE 1 DEUS EX (2) has only had the one start in Qld and that was off the back of a slick trial. With an all the way win in midweek company, he lands the gate to make it 2 from 2 in the Sunshine State. BALDUCCI (12) makes his first AP appearance for NSW based trainer Amanda Turnbull and although only lightly raced looks to have the ability to be a factor despite the visitors draw. KIWIS ARE FLYING (4) arrived with a bang in Qld at the end of 2020 putting together 4 on the bounce before going amiss. This is a tough ask first up in close to 11 months, but he stays under notice. DOUBLE OR NOTHING (1) may have forgotten where the winning post is but does come up with his best gate for some time and has placed his past 5. SELECTIONS: 2-12-4-11 SUGGESTED BET: DEUS EX (2) to win RACE 2 HENRY HU (9) may have some poor numbers but sectionally he has been super at his past two starts. In a race that will generate good tempo, he is worth a throw at the stumps at odds. JERADAS DELIGHT (6) is a G1 winner two starts back and tackled the G1 Blacks A Fake last start, so the class drop is gigantic. That is offset by a wide gate and the fact she is first up from a let up, but the tempo is certainly in her favour. STREET APPEAL (2) has gained his ticket back to the main draw after being ODM at his past 3 starts. A gazelle out of the machine, the early and mid-race pressure will be the key to whether he can hold on. ROYAL AURORA (8) will likely be hemmed away but with the easy trip can be poking through searching for the gaps to chime in. SELECTIONS: 9-6-2-8 SUGGESTED BET: HENRY HU (9) each-way RACE 3 WAHS FIRE BUG (3) has been tough in victory at her past 2, scoring gritty wins at both the mile and 2138m when sitting parked. Runner-up in 3 and winning 3 of her past 6, this is a drop in grade from her last start. Rinse and repeat. TOTAL DIVA (1) has the one win here at The Creek and while she has been running some smart races and lands the gate advantage, her stablemate Wahs Fire Bug has had the wood over her. WHICH HUNT (5) has placed her past 3 in this grade and last time was 2m from the winner. A sticky gate looks to make it place claims again for her. FAIRIESDELIGHT (2) was trying to go from barrier to box here 2 starts back when nabbed near the wire. The gate can see her in the minors against this field. SELECTIONS: 3-1-5-2 SUGGESTED BET: WAHS FIRE BUG (3) to win RACE 4 TURN IT UP (1) was only 5m from Copy That in the Sunshine Sprint 2 starts back and returning from a let up looks to get every advantage with the gate, small field and likely lack of mid-race pressure. Opening the pipes with a recent trial victory when never asked yet still slipping home in 55.3 and 27.1 he should be taking this. REPLACED EYE (5) transfers from NSW to the astute Trent Dawson stable, arriving off a spell. He has campaigned previously in Qld and can boast a win on this track. With a smart trial to prepare he should be a welcome addition to the FFA ranks. OUR UNCLE SAM (3) had the power to arrive for a narrow victory here 2 starts back and then found the speed too intense over the mile last start. Might have to do the heavy lifting here. SUBTLE DELIGHT (2) steps back up to FFA grade but will get first shot at finding the leaders back which gives him an easier trip. SELECTIONS: 1-5-3-2 SUGGESTED BET: TURN IT UP (1) to win RACE 5 SAM IS PERFECTION (8) has been in the FFA events at his past 2 starts so the return to veteran’s company looks a favourable class drop. Behind Mach Da Vinci last start, he just found the speed too electric and has the options as the lone 2nd line runner. UNDER WORKED (3) heads North on what looks a more permanent basis, joining the Ron Sallis barn. Campaigning in Qld previously, he failed to hit the board in 6 attempts here at The Creek but does arrive a last start Menangle winner. TWENTYEIGHTBLACK (1) looked to get every chance last week when coming up a neck short from this same gate after racing in the trail. It would be no surprise to see him look to dictate this week. JONAH JONES (4) made the closing shot a winner here last week when darting up the passing lane from 3 back the poles. The early scratching to his inside is certainly in his favour. SELECTIONS: 8-3-1-4 SUGGESTED BET: SAM IS PERFECTION (8) to win RACE 6 The scorch marks are still on the track from WILL THE WIZARD (7) and his effort last week when running the 3rd fastest mile in history at Albion Park. Power running a 1.50.6 mile in front, the win made it successive victories from the front. Despite the gate, he can weave some more magic. TOMMY LINCOLN (8) chased forlornly last week when 2nd to Will The Wizard, finishing 12.5m in arrears of the flame trail. A stylish 3m winner here 2 starts back, he is the obvious danger. PARAVANI (4) can fire the early bullets here to look for a prominent position with his latest start a sound effort behind Lombo Heaven. NURBURGRING (5) faces a tricky alley here but has bounced back to some form, finishing 2nd last week which followed a tidy win 2 back. SELECTIONS: 7-8-4-5 SUGGESTED BET: WILL THE WIZARD (7) to win RACE 7 SOHO SINATRA (1) fought a tougher battle than this last start when down the line behind Kashed Up. Sitting parked from gate 5 here 2 starts back was too big an assignment but he has found a wide open and winnable race complemented by the ace gate. FLO RYDA (5) sat at the rear last start after easing out of the machine before closing out in nice style. A Redcliffe winner from what seemed an impossible position 3 runs back, early position will be key. GLENEAGLE WARRIOR (2) took the trail from gate 1 over this distance 2 starts back and was able to land the winning blow and followed that when 8m from the flying Bitcoin last week. LIFEOFBRIAN (6) has caught the eye at his past 2 starts when making ground in the closing stages. This is no harder, just the gate is a concern. SELECTIONS: 1-5-2-6 SUGGESTED BET: Flexi trifecta 1-2 / 1-2-5-6 RACE 8 KEAYANG KREUZER (3) ended up too far back when chasing as Lombo Heaven dictated last start at the mile. Settling closer will certainly aid his chances in what looks a tricky race with various mapping scenarios that could possibly eventuate. NOWHERE CREEK (8) set sail after Virgil here 3 starts back but could not reel him in. A winner at his next start on the back of the speed, being the lone second liner here is a plus. VIRGIL (7) faces the tough gate, but he is far from out of contention. Not much has gone right at his past 2 starts which followed a hat-trick of victories. MISTERFREEZE (6) was too far back trying to chase against the tempo last start over the mile. Back up to the middle-distance is more suitable. SELECTIONS: 3-8-7-6 SUGGESTED BET: KEAYANG KREUZER (3) to win RACE 9 SIR FAHRENHEIT (5) is knocking on the door and the longer trip up to 13 furlongs is no concern- he is a former track record holder here over the long trip. Only 2m from the winner last start, he was a tragedy beaten the previous start. MORE SHADES OF GOLD (2) took on mobile conditions last week and his chances were dealt a huge blow with an error. Still within 5m of the winner Red Castleton despite the break, he just needs to step to be right in this. DOUG (1), ahhh Doug. It was bad Doug last week when throwing his chances away. It was good Doug 3 starts back when winning over this trip, which will it be this week and is being the lone front tape runner an advantage? NORTHERN MUSCLE (8) has finished 3rd his past 2 starts with a gritty effort last week when only 2m away. SELECTIONS: 5-2-1-8 SUGGESTED BET: SIR FAHRENHEIT (5) each-way Market Market About Darren Clayton Darren provides Racing Queensland with his expert form analysis, tips and speedmaps for all TAB races in Queensland.
