Chris Nelson’s Saturday Rosehill Preview Posted on June 15, 2023 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Plenty were of the opinion TUTTA LA VITA should have won here last start when unable to gain clear running at a vital stage in the straight. Personally, I thought he was out in enough time however I’m also of the opinion had he seen clear air sooner he would have been able to wind up & likely win. The step up in distance should see him make amends. FLYING TRAPEZE placed in Listed company last start & draws ideally whilst CAP FERRAT comes out of the same race & did hit the line well. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet: TUTTA LA VITA TO WIN RACE 2 SWEET MERCY was excellent this grade here two weeks ago when sitting wide the entire trip without any cover. Entitled to fold down the straight she didn’t sticking it out well to be beaten just over a length. With the good draw & claim (less weight) she’ll prove tough to beat. BURNING NEED will be suited by the step up in distance. Not sure POSEIDON RULER will start (horror gate), may be held over for Port Macquarie Sunday? Last start run here was also very good. Numbers: 13 – 10 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet: SWEET MERCY EACH-WAY RACE 3 ACAPPELLA SUN had zero luck from the inside gate here last start & comes up with the same draw this afternoon! Held up from before the home turn until the 100m mark she simply ran out of time to get to the first couple having to be content with 3rd. JACENZA was also stiff in the same race never gaining clear air at any stage did look to have something to offer. UNRAVEL is lightly raced & promising. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet: ACAPPELLA SUN EACH-WAY RACE 4 Sticking with last start winner GREBENI who has been in stellar form this prep & only rises a kilo off the last start impressive win. He ticked the 1800m box last start & is always strong to the line in his races which is a good trait to have. MANBEHINDTHEMONEY made up for an unlucky Doomben effort two back by winning at Canterbury last start, big weight however has upside. TOURISTIC should be ready to fire on all cylinders third up & draws nicely. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet: GREBENI TO WIN RACE 5 Interesting race. The promising NAVAL COLLEGE just held off the fast-finishing MIRACLE SPIN at Randwick 3 weeks ago over this exact trip. The weight turnaround is 2kg in the latter’s favour, enough to turn the tables, I’ll lean his way however I still have the utmost respect for NAVAL COLLEGE. FAWKNER PARK beat ‘walkers’ at Doomben as he should have, only lightly raced with plenty of upside however this is clearly harder. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet: MIRACLE SPIN EACH-WAY RACE 6 Found this a very difficult race to sort. NARITO resumes off a bleeding attack on the Kensington track back in February, he’s a consistent galloper who has won & placed at two fresh attempts. Happy to support if there’s any positive betting moves. BRUDENALL resumes, holds a strong record just has to deal with a wide draw. SMASHING EAGLE draws nicely & is another with a solid fresh record, will need to improve a notch or two to measure up? Numbers: 3 – 1 – 6 – 10 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics RACE 7 Confident BOIS D’ARGENT can win again here. We don’t see many consistent types up around this distance range however he’s been around the mark both here & when racing overseas. Yes, he’s up in the weights however I’m not too concerned about that & he has ticked the track & trip box. ZOUMON the likely challenger, fitter for the first up run he does rise in grade with only a couple of kilo’s weight relief, this is his pet distance though. Wouldn’t be surprised to see an improved effort from LORD ARDMORE. Numbers: 2 – 12 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet: BOIS D’ARGENT WIN TO WIN RACE 8 Going with the consistent ANAGAIN who although only the winner of one race is super consistent around the placings. She ran a strong closing third here two back before up in the weights not far away in a midweeker the latest. Back to this grade on the minimum she looks good value. MIRRA VIEW continues to race well & comes up with a good alley, must include as a definite danger. Former French mare MASCARET the big watch, on paper she’ll be better suited over further, market? Numbers: 14 – 3 – 9 – 4 Suggested Bet: ANAGAIN EACH-WAY (small bet) RACE 9 ROBUSTO & AFRICAN DAISY fought out the finish of a similar grade race here a fortnight back with the former controlling/dictating the race from the front & just holding on. This time around there looks to be more tempo engaged & AFRICAN DAISY meets his conqueror that day 1.5kg better off. The gate for AFRICAN DAISY isn’t great however I’ll take the punt she can slot in. CAMAGUEY should take benefit from the first up run in that same race. Numbers: 14 – 1 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet: AFRICAN DAISY EACH-WAY RACE 10 GRACILISTYLA should have finished closer than the official 0.9L margin when 4th here first up. He just ran out of ground late going to the line untested, not saying he would have won however he may have & he looks well placed to make amends here. COSMIC MINERVA is very effective fresh & has trialled well winning twice, no doubt been set for another first up crack. PLUNDERING is a model of consistency, should be able to land a spot handy to the lead. Numbers: 6 – 12 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet: GRACILISTYLA EACH-WAY Market Market
