Chris Nelson’s Saturday Rosehill Preview Posted on December 5, 2024December 5, 2024 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Rosehill racing on Saturday should be on a dry track. The day kicks off with a 3yo affair over 1200m where there’s no shortage of strong form lines. I’m with the unbeaten PRIVATE HARRY who couldn’t have been any more impressive when winning at Hawkesbury last start when leading, he just powered away from his opposition once they hit the straight. That was off the back of a similarly impressive debut romp at Newcastle, this is a step up in grade which he can definitely handle. THE BLADE is also unbeaten having won by a space on debut, spelled he’s won a recent trial which is a good sign. CANDLEWICK not out of it either. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet: PRIVATE HARRY TO WIN. RACE 2 MISS HADES beat all bar JUSTELA at Kembla a couple of weeks ago in this grade & to be fair was being held on the line. The margin was 1.8L & the weight turnaround in MISS HADES favour is 5kg, I’m going with her to turn the tables. Certainly no knock on what KINGSTON CHARM is doing, just has to deal with a wide gate today. MAGNATEAR in the mix also. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet: MISS HADES EACH-WAY (small bet). RACE 3 Not a great draw for the in-form SUNCHYME however I’m going to lean her way & hope for an ounce or two of luck. Game last start she just copped a slight bump in the straight which didn’t help her cause & note she only went town narrowly. Respecting IN SUMMER who is only lightly raced, has plenty of upside. VILLASAURUS was very impressive winning first up, yet to miss a placed second-up suggesting we must include in everything. Numbers: 3 – 14 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet: SUNCHYME EACH-WAY (small bet). RACE 4 Going with some odds in this race putting the Chris Waller trained LENAPE VIBE on top. Yes, he steps up in grade off a last start midweek level third placing however I liked what he was doing on & through the line suggesting the increase in distance will suit. From the inside gate Kerrin McEvoy should be able to give him the right run. KIRIKAN struggles to win however is right in the place mix. HEED THE OMENS an improver. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet: LENAPE VIBE EACH-WAY (small bet). RACE 5 SHANGRI LA SPRING has returned in sparkling form this prep winning both starts & impressively at that. The questions is whether or not he can bring his provincial form to town, well he’s certainly in the right yard & the ease of those victories suggest he can. DARLING DOWNS bolted in last start, must respect albeit this is tougher. Will REZONE need the hit out or will he be ready to go fresh? The market will be our best guide to answering that question. Numbers: 9 – 7 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet: SHANGRI LA SPRING TO WIN. RACE 6 BULLETS HIGH continues to race well without success, no doubt the rise in trip will suit today however he’s going to go around a short price once again & is becoming quite costly. Thought MORRYL MORAL was a tidy effort at Kembla when going hard in front, outgunned by a couple of smart ones late he will again park on speed & could take some running down, I’ll lean his way at the better odds. MODESTY comes out of the same race, must include. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet: MORRYL MORAL EACH-WAY (small bet). RACE 7 Plenty of knockers about for DRIFT NET following her defeat here last Saturday. In all fairness she did look the certain winner halfway down the straight when cruising to the lead however she ended up clocking in third which didn’t please her supporters. Did she turn it up? Well she’s back 100m here & I’m sticking! BIG watch on the resuming AUGUST BLOOM who only raced once last prep making ground in a Group 3, she’s trialled well which is a very positive sign from this yard. DEMIANA was narrowly beaten fresh, maps nicely today & strips fitter. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet: DRIFT NET TO WIN. RACE 8 We’re all waiting for KONASANA to strike wet ground however it’s just not happening, she seems to race on the wrong weekends! Her last couple have been solid on Good (4) surfaces, both well up to winning a race such as this. In a perfect world she’d love give in the ground however is still good enough to give this a shake on dry. SPANGLER was an eye-catcher fresh & note placed 3rd in the Group 3 Cameron second up last prep. I’MINTOWIN will take running down. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet: KONASANA EACH-WAY. RACE 9 TRISTATE was a dominant winner here over this 1100m trip two starts back tagging the speed before dashing clear in the straight. Game his latest in stronger grade he draws the pole here which gives Tom Sherry options to perhaps lead or more likely trail. Either way he’s going to prove hard to beat. TIME TO BOOGIE resumes off almost a year’s break, two trials should have him ready & he does hold a good fresh record, betting? DOLLAR MAGIC chased home TRISTATE recently & meets him 5kg better at the weights for the 1.3L defeat, that’s going to be a big help. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 10 – 3 Suggested Bet: TRISTATE EACH-WAY. RACE 10 Forgive a horse one bad run they say & that’s the case with BLAZING HARRY who many thought (including myself) would go very close to winning at Kembla last start. Well, that wasn’t the case, he just didn’t pick up at any stage in the straight racing quite flat. Prior form suggests he’s a lot better than that. MIDNIGHT OPAL the toughest to beat, looks very close to a breakthrough this prep. LITTLE BEGINNINGS won well fresh, well drawn & the claim is another positive. Numbers: 9 – 5 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet: BLAZING HARRY TO WIN (small bet). Market Market
