Chris Nelson’s Saturday Rosehill Preview Posted on May 30, 2024May 30, 2024 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Racing at Rosehill kicks off with a Midway over 1100m & we have a capacity line up to go around. Safe way out looks to be the consistent NINGALOO STAR who arrives here third up having won in dominant fashion on the Kensington track last start. She’s very competitive at this level & importantly handles all types of going. CRIPPS TONITE resumes with a good fresh record, trialled well & gets in nicely with the claim. DELEXO can run a race fresh, definite betting watch. Numbers: 6 – 4 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet: NINGALOO STAR EACH-WAY. RACE 2 Can’t see any reason to tip against the debut winner EMIRATE here who wore down the leader at Warwick Farm in a race not really run to suit tempo wise. The rise to 1200m looks ideal & he’s got the wet track box ticked should the rain come. Good draw for POINT AND SHOOT who ran his best race here on debut, likely prefers it dry though. TORN has form behind Doomben’s smart looking Wednesday winner DON’T FORGET JACK. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 8 – 14 Suggested Bet: EMIRATE TO WIN. RACE 3 Huge numbers at acceptance time in this week’s Highway. Throw at the stumps with the Queanbeyan trained filly TOES IN THE WATER who ran well at this level two back before not having the best of luck her latest. Drawn ok she rates an each-way chance. REMATCH looks close, lightly raced drawn to get the right run. SHIPSHAPE gets in nicely at the weights under the conditions of the race. Numbers: 16 – 1 – 8 – 13 Suggested Bet: TOES IN THE WATER EACH-WAY (small bet). RACE 4 CAPTAIN FURAI accounted for FRANZ JOSEF last start on the Kensington track & although the latter fares better at the weights this time around (2.5kg) I’m with the Waller runner who was holding him comfortably in the run to the line & the additional distance here looks more in his favour. TAJAWAl strips fitter for the first up run & with the claim will carry only a kilo more in weight, the drop back in distance looks suitable also. Numbers: 19 – 6 – 3 – 14 Suggested Bet: CAPTAIN FURAI TO WIN. RACE 5 Like the look of LEFT FIELD, not so much the wide gate however she tends to settle back as a rule. She drew 15 of 15 in the Listed race at Scone going straight back to last before right to the outside charging home into 3rd spot. She’ll need luck here however at the each-way odds on offer I’m happy to take the punt. IN FLIGHT holds a good record & has plenty of upside. PISANELLO is only lightly raced with a consistent record to date. Numbers: 3 – 14 – 10 – 2 Suggested Bet: LEFT FIELD EACH-WAY (small bet). RACE 6 Victorian visitor DAZZLING LUCY appeals here on an each-way basis. Solid first up at Flemington she comes into this off a freshen up however did trial well cruising into 3rd here a week back after striking trouble early on. She wasn’t far away in some Group races last prep. Include DEMIANA who looked unlucky first up here last month, kept fresh which looks a good move, include VALIANCY should she run here & not the previous. Numbers: 6 – 16 – 19 – 14 Suggested Bet: DAZZLING LUCY EACH-WAY. RACE 7 Taking the punt on the in-form WATERFORD who has come back in great order this prep. Strong first up winner he backed that up with a game second in the Scone Cup when if into the clear sooner may have been able to pinch a break. Tackles 2000m for the first time however gut feel suggests it shouldn’t be a problem. SIR LUCAN will roll forward, fully fit you’d have to think third run back & he was good at Gosford sitting wide the trip. Include SKYLAB & keep an eye on STAR OF INDIA who resumes off an 83-week break, did win his only Australian start. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 8 At likely good odds DECADENT TALE looks good each-way value off a fast-finishing effort at Scone last start in the race won by UNUSUAL LEGACY (engaged this race). Outclassed the run prior go back another & you’ll see a good 2nd this grade with a similar weight. Handles all ground, just needs to be close enough to strike. UNUSUAL LEGACY goes around 5kg worse off against the top tip however still a clear danger. NAVAL COMMMISSION & PERFECT PLAY in the mix. Numbers: 14 – 3 – 17 – 7 Suggested Bet: DECADENT TALE EACH-WAY. RACE 9 Throw at the stumps putting BUILLT on top fourth run back from a break. First up needed the hit out, last couple have been in stronger company & although never a winning chance he was far from disgraced. Well in with the claim he can park handily from the good gate & as long as we don’t get to the heavy stage can improve plenty. Big weight for HOLLYWOOD HERO however he’s rarely far away. Not sure about XIDAKI, 1200-1500m second-up, a distance he’s yet to race over is a concern. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet: BUILLT EACH-WAY (small bet). RACE 10 Tough way to wind up the day. Had STEP ASIDE on top in the final race last week however he was a scratching. His first up record is excellent & he has trialled well for his return. Doubt he leads off the rails gate however should gain the right run & if the breaks come late lookout! BAROQUE ROAD has a good chance at odds, handles all types of going & fitter for the first up run. HEMAN is now a gelding, has always shown potential & may start to live up to it now with that ultimate gear change, shades of Tannhauser? Numbers: 16 – 6 – 13 – 19 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. Market Market
