Chris Nelson’s Saturday Eagle Farm Preview Posted on October 12, 2023October 12, 2023 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Sticking with FIFTH POSITION in this opening race who did have every chance last week however in my opinion is now looking for a longer trip which he gets today. Close up all 3 outings since joining the Tony Gollan stable he’ll settle handy to the speed & get his chance. LITTLE MIX brings stronger Sydney form, her latest was a Group 3 placing, note she is yet to win beyond 1600m though. Yes, these distance races can produce surprise results however I’d be shocked if anything beat those two. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet: BOX EXACTA/QUINELLA NOS.1 & 6 RACE 2 Can’t go past PARTY FOR TWO in the small field here. She’s been a little off the boil since running 2nd in a Blue Diamond Prelude at Sandown back in February however anywhere near her best she’d be far too good for this opposition. These shorter 1000m races where she can sit on speed are more her go & she did look the goods winning a recent trial. FLAG HALL the only danger should there even be one, lightly raced, consistent looks above average. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet: PARTY FOR TWO TO WIN RACE 3 Still difficult times trying to work out these early season 2yo races. On form & trials I’d have to be with the debutante BOOMROUX who accounted for Khalisee in his heat, we saw that one come out & win here last Saturday. The negative is the wide gate, he’s going to need luck from out there. Of the MISHANI’s I’m suggesting SUSPECT & ROCK are the two with the better chances. As always market moves will be of importance. Numbers: 3 – 9 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics (small bet) RACE 4 Keen on the chances of TITANIUM here who has been racing very well & often without luck. He’s drawn wide his past couple & arguably should have won the latest when running into traffic halfway down the straight, with an unimpeded run the result could have been very different. Drawn to settle closer & back to 1600m this is his chance. HYDE continues to race consistently as does MAGIC CONQUEROR, both can be included. Numbers: 10 – 3 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet: TITANIUM TO WIN RACE 5 Poor gate for the consistent mare APRIL IN AUGUSTA however I’m putting her on top hoping for a touch of luck. She won two straight here at Eagle Farm over 1200m before striking a little trouble early on at Toowoomba when things just didn’t pan out, she did a good job to hold down 4th in what’s been a strong form race going forward. MICRO was also good at Toowoomba, winner of that race has since won again. TOJAKI a chance. Numbers: 10 – 3 – 16 – 18 Suggested Bet: APRIL IN AUGUSTA EACH-WAY RACE 6 Sunshine Coast mare MISSION OF LOVE gave away too much start here when second up a couple of weeks back, she did make headway however not enough & wound up in 5th position. She needs ground & although only gaining 100m today she draws a better alley & can hopefully settle closer, if she can she’ll be very hard to hold out. RISING PACIFIC was a moral beaten at Doomben before making amends at Ipswich last start, didn’t win by a lot though? SEBRING GIRL in the mix from the good gate, will roll forward. Numbers: 17 – 14 – 12 – 19 Suggested Bet: MISSION OF LOVE TO WIN RACE 7 Interesting race where the punters will again likely side with the speedy STEADY READY who just went way too hard in front first up at Toowoomba & was run down in the straight winding up in 3rd position. DEVASTATING was one of those who beat him home coming from well back in the field after another tardy start. Confident he can go one better here with the bigger track & again good speed up front. Keeping THE FACE on the safe side, first outing for David Vandyke form in NSW is out of stronger races. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet: DEVASTATING TO WIN RACE 8 We see CIFRADO resume here, one of our better 2yo’s from last season winning twice at Group 2 level locally. He gets back & will find the 1000m short of his best however can’t be overlooked. I’m with the in form MAXIMUM OUTPUT who won here over this exact trip last start sitting 3 wide without cover throughout. NASHIRA in the mix also, just needs a to be positive early to give himself a chance, not drift too far back. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 11 – 3 Suggested Bet: MAXIMUM OUTPUT EACH-WAY (small bet) RACE 9 EKATERINA ran well below her best first up however there were valid excuses as she pulled up lame. She’s eyeing off a trip down south & on the form she showed during the winter she’s well up to the task. Rob Heathcote wouldn’t be sending her around if she hadn’t recovered & that spells danger for her rivals. At odds I wouldn’t be the least surprised to see sharp improvement from GLORIOUS RUBY who strips fitter & didn’t have the best of luck fresh. KIR ROYALE can improve. Numbers: 6 – 10 – 11 – 3 Suggested Bet: EKATERINA TO WIN RACE 10 We’re going to have to take short odds about ARNAQUEUR in this final race however it certainly does look set up for him. No match for the winner at Toowoomba he was impressive first up & can camp behind the leaders here before Ben Thompson cuts him loose in the straight. Good gate for OUR MAGNUS who is going to win one of these races sooner or later. Include DARK HARMONY who figures to get a soft lead. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 10 – 7 Suggested Bet: ARNAQUEUR TO WIN Market Market
