Chris Nelson’s Saturday Eagle Farm Preview Posted on April 16, 2026April 16, 2026 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Racing at Eagle Farm on Saturday will take place on a good rated deck following another week of picture-perfect weather. We open the meeting with a very complicated looking 2yo race over 1400m where (1) SILKEN SALUTE has gone up favourite & whilst I’ve got him on top I wouldn’t be jumping into a short quote. For opposition he has a couple of Ciaron Maher trained youngsters (3 & 8) who went around in the same Wyong race on debut when not fancied in the market & finishing out of the money. The two first starters (4 & 7) have won lead-up trials however both were pressured to do so. Market leads will be very, very important. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet: Follow the positive market leads. RACE 2 There’s a few engaged here capable of running along, hopefully they all turn up & hopefully they go nuts in front as my tip in the race (6) BALANCE THE BOOKS will be off speed waiting to pounce at the business end. She’s won 3 of 4, her most impressive win was her maiden win showing a decent sprint & note that was her only dry track start which is a plus today. Recent soft trial should have her ready to go fresh. (9) MANUKAU brings the Sydney form & gets in well with the claim for McMurray. (2) SURPRISE HONEY is always capable whilst (11) ALL ADORE is impressing in easier races. Numbers: 6 – 9 – 2 – 11 Suggested Bet: BALANCE THE BOOKS TO WIN. RACE 3 Interesting race over the 1800m + trip as we have no clear leader whatsoever on paper, in fact there’s not really any runner who shows those tendencies, could be very interesting early on. (1) MR BUSTER & (2) BRINDIVAN for mine are the two best horses in the race & both are in good form at present & from their inside draws I’d hope will be close enough should there be no pace early which can often end up the complete opposite! (6) JENNI MOREESE has been given a couple of 11/10 rides from Corey Sutherland of late; can they round up their rivals once again? I’m jumping ship with (4) MAKE A CALL which should help her improve… Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 4 2406m staying affair where I’m keen to back the Chris Waller trained (10) LIBERTY PARK on an each-way basis. The stable have stepped him up in distance this prep & he’s responded very well improving on each occasion. His effort here two back was good over this trip whilst his latest although unplaced was back 200m & he did wind up late, nothing wrong with that run whatsoever. (12) PROCHESTER gets in with a light weight & is another who will appreciate the mile & a half. (1) AKKADIAN EMPEROR & (2) JASOR likely push on & appear the best of the leading bunch. Numbers: 10 – 12 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet: LIBERTY PARK EACH-WAY. RACE 5 Probably the right race for (7) AMUSEANTES however my pockets are not long & she’s become very costly, I have to listen to my head, not my heart & move on! (5) READY FOR THE TRIP should be right at his peak now & races very well this track & trip, he chased home Sir Winnie last start who has since won again & on an each-way basis looks a safe bet. (6) MOON SWEEPER third up should be getting close whilst (8) IRAMA is in the mix also. I’ll probably have a saver AMUSEANTES… Numbers: 5 – 7 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet: READY FOR THE TRIP EACH-WAY (small bet). RACE 6 Leading trainer Tony Gollan holds a very strong hand in this race with (10) BUNDELLA & (11) NOW IS THE HOUR. I’m confident one of the pair will win the race & am leaning to the latter who resumes off a short spell having won 3 of his past 4 starts. His go is to lead & that’s what Angela Jones will be looking to do here, he’s been held up in the past & although not poor, he’s just not the same horse. (10) BUNDELLA is flying, with 3kg off for Chelsea Baker & a good draw he’s a chance of making it 4 straight wins. (6) SUNSET DREAMING & (14) COSMO CENTAURUS have ability however will be out the back & giving away a decent start on the other pair. Numbers: 11 – 10 – 6 – 14 Suggested Bet: NOW IS THE HOUR TO WIN. RACE 7 With the scratching of (14) YOURE NOT THE KING the weight of money will be for the super consistent (13) TEN DEEP to be steered by leading jockey Emily Lang. She’s had the 4 starts up this way since joining Tony Gollan’s yard winning twice & placing twice, suggest that last start second would have been a win had she seen daylight earlier in the straight. (7) BUNKER HUT is consistent, better placed today in a race with likely more tempo. Freshened up (8) LAST COMMAND is in the mix also. Numbers: 13 – 7 – 8 – 10 Suggested Bet: TEN DEEP TO WIN. RACE 8 First of today’s two features is the Listed Daybreak Lover for the 3yo’s over 1400m. Absolute stack of chances in the race however you can’t beat winning form & (2) FABULANTES has plenty of that having won his past 3 starts culminating in the rich Jewel race at the Gold Coast last month. He’s had a very short rest & a lead up trial which yes, he also won, look for him to be steaming home. (6) SPANISH TREASURE ran well fresh, just perhaps a run short at the very end he shows very good ability & draws to box seat. (9) SPECIAL ARTIST wasn’t fancied first up however nobody mentioned that to him rattling home at $17 beaten less than a length, he is a second-up winner. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 9 – 13 Suggested Bet: FABULANTES EACH-WAY. RACE 9 The Listed Ascot Handicap rounds out a big day of racing. Most of our short-range sprinters go around in this & luck will play a big part in the result, perfect example is opening favourite (2) HIDDEN WEALTH jumping from gate 15 (before scratchings), he faces a big task from out there. I’ll lean to the stablemate (6) GOLDEN BOOM who is always around the mark in these races, trialled well he begins fast & will quickly be up on speed, from there he’ll prove hard to run down. (1) UNCOMMON JAMES is a class act, he’s won both lead-up trials softly however has been off the scene for almost a year, market? (4) PAYLINE hasn’t won for a while now however is very capable of zooming home over the top of these late. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. Market Market
