Chris Nelson’s Saturday Eagle Farm Preview Posted on December 19, 2024December 19, 2024 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 We’re racing once again at Eagle Farm on Saturday, track drying out all the time, we’ll get back to somewhere near to Good by the time this race gets underway where I’m with the Gollan trained import HABEEBAH who really should be ready to show her best. Thought she was good two back before giving away too much start the latest when rising to open handicap level, back up in the weights she goes however this is much easier. CORMAC T has now broken through & can again prove tough to get past, he’s nothing but consistent. The consistent ARTFUL GIRL will roll forward & must be included in exotics. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet: HABEEBAH EACH-WAY. RACE 2 Very keen on the chances of the second-up ZAPHOD who put in a cracking run first up at Rosehill when parked 3 deep throughout. Even accounting for the tough trip he still looked a terrific winning chance in the straight before just copping a bump which put him off balance, he didn’t shirk his task to the line however just missed out. MOSZUR is ready to win however needs a dry deck, should she get that then look out. The in-form pair MISS JOELENE & JEALOUS are right in the hunt once again. Numbers: 3 – 9 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet: ZAPHOD TO WIN. RACE 3 The resuming mare BEZIQUE has a touch of class & should be much too strong for her rivals today. Perfectly drawn for Emily Lang she can lead or box seat & with her Listed placings last prep should prove a level or two above these. Trial wise she comfortably held Rothfire in a recent Doomben heat. SAFEWORK mixes his form as a rule, he’s won 2 of his past 3 so not so much recently. LIGHT OF BOOM will be running on. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet: BEZIQUE TO WIN. RACE 4 There’s a few raffles today, this is the first of them! HARBOURMASTER has drawn poorly however the field size will reduce to no more than 16. Yes, he’ll still be wide however that may not be such a bad thing as he can find the line, with cover he can peel out & run home late. I’ve liked what he’s been doing at Toowoomba of late. RUNWITHTHETIDE is in a similar boat also drawing poorly, form is good enough if luck goes his way. MICKEY’S MEDAL will find this easier than The Gateway last start. Could have easily missed the winner. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet: HARBOURMASTER EACH-WAY (small bet). RACE 5 Going with the maiden galloper MAZIS on an each-way basis. Well supported on debut at Doomben recently he just got too far out of his ground before running home well late without pressure & without any winning chance. He’s going to lap up the mile today & I’m convinced he can measure up to this opposition. RUN LUCY RUN was a surprise winner last start, sharply up in the weights however not out of it. SAVOUR THE DREAM an improver back on a drier surface whilst both 3 & 10 can figure also. Numbers: 9 – 2 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet: MAZIS EACH-WAY. RACE 6 More questions than answers in this race the first of which is who will lead as on the map there is little or no pace. GOLD BULLION may be the one to go forward, being from the Waterhouse/Bott camp there’s a fair chance that will be the case. Fitter for the first up run should he produce anything like his Packer Plate placing last prep he’d be too good for these. JUNIPAL is racing well, disqualified his latest (jockey weighed in light) he can bounce back. POETIC DRAMA may get back & find the tempo unsuitable, can’t be left out though. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 11 – 8 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 7 The Group 3 B.J. McLachlan is the highlight race of the day where we’ve got a quality bunch of 2yo’s trying to build prizemoney to ensure a Magic Millions start. The wraps were big on HI BARBIE before debuting at Doomben courtesy of a 7+ length trial win. She got the job done on a heavy (10) however never looked comfortable at any stage, back on a dry surface I’m sticking with her. Best of the interstate form is through a recent race at Rosehill where THE PLAYWRIGHT just held off ICARIAN DREAM, they meet again here & look the toughest opposition to BARBIE. MORTAL HALO looks overs, worth including. Numbers: 8 – 9 – 10 – 4 Suggested Bet: HI BARBIE TO WIN (small bet). RACE 8 The Falvelon is a cracking race for the sprinters. The leading Gollan stable has ZARASTRO & HIDDEN WEALTH engaged & they sit at the top of the betting market which is no surprise. I’ll lean to the latter who is just flying at the moment, won a trial in super quick time before scoring by panels first up accounting for Cifrado who came out & won here last Saturday. ZARASTRO ran a cracking race fresh over the 1000m & is much better placed out to 1200m today, gut feel is he’ll lead with HIDDEN WEALTH doing the trailing. BOOM TORQUE will be strong late whilst ROTHFIRE can never be overlooked. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet: HIDDEN WEALTH TO WIN/SAVER ZARASTRO. RACE 9 TRANSATLANTIC is well worth another chance should he go around here & not at the Gold Coast on Friday night. Yes, the race was run to suit when bolting in at the Sunshine Coast before disappointing this track in The Gateway last start. Was he disadvantaged by the inside going? Well, we’ll find out either today or last night! WEIGALL TIGER has a good record here & was back to his best at Ipswich last start, must include. OCEAN ZAR looks close (also engaged Friday night) whilst the consistent ANG POW has also accepted at Randwick. Numbers: 10 – 8 – 19 – 4 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 10 What a way to wind things up, this should be big odds the field as there are a stack of winning chances. At massive odds SUJEED isn’t without a hope here, only lightly raced he found the line well first up at the Gold Coast over 1000m & will appreciate stepping out over further. Might be worth a ‘throw at the stumps’! ADDRIEL is one who draws well & likely lands a decent run, third up should be ready to fire. TALTARNI FIELDS is flying this prep helped by favourable draws, not the case this time around however shouldn’t be overlooked. Numbers: 13 – 1 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. Market Market
