Chris Nelson’s Friday Sunshine Coast Preview Posted on November 29, 2024November 29, 2024 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Racing from the Sunshine Coast this evening, we should be going around on near enough to a Good rated surface. We kick things off with an 1800m maiden where there look to be a number of winning chances. I’m going to lean to the consistent LA COMETA who hasn’t been far away all 3 starts this time in. This will be her first attempt at 1800m & that’s the case with most in the race, just gave me the impression last start she was now looking for the longer trip & she should find this an easier task. SNOW SHOW’s form reads well on paper, just have a query on him out to this trip as his closing sectionals are not strong. NAPA VALLEY was poor on face value last start however note did pull up with a poor recovery rate. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet: LA COMETA TO WIN (small bet). RACE 2 HEY CHARDONNAY finished well down the track here when resuming at the end of last month however that certainly shouldn’t have been the case. She looked to be looming right into the finish when badly checked nearly selling out. Her form last prep was solid enough & she’s been back to the trials since running well. She’s good odds & well worth an each-way investment. Morning line favourite OOHLALOUVRE looks close, both runs this prep have been solid, draw could be a little awkward however with a touch of luck she’ll get her chance. Respecting the Gollan trained newcomer DRANITZELLE who has won both lead-up trials. Numbers: 15 – 16 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet: HEY CHARDONNAY EACH-WAY. RACE 3 Tough race where I’ll lean to the second-up PIVOTAL LAD from the Gollan stable who has had the one run back from a break finishing just behind the placegetters in town. He’s been kept up to the mark fitness wise heading back to the trials & finishing close up at Doomben. He’s no star however this is well within his capabilities. CARRAVILLA continues to race well, placed 2 of 3 this time in has to rate a chance to break through. ARAMINTA in the mix, IOANE an improver. Numbers: 6 – 15 – 11 – 5 Suggested Bet: PIVOTAL LAD EACH-WAY. RACE 4 To the eye PROVANCE is looking for further than the 1200m of tonight’s race however he’s been kept nice & fresh having not raced since resuming in town over 5 weeks ago & importantly David Vandyke has put the blinkers on him which could well sharpen him up from the gates, should he be able to hold a more prominent position he’s going to be hard to hold out at the business end of the race. KEEP SAFE caught the eye two back before disappointing at his latest, spelled he’s won a trial impressively (5.5L) leading up to his return tonight. Keeping nos.1, 6 & 7 all on the safe side. Numbers: 4 – 22 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet: PROVANCE TO WIN/SAVER KEEP SAFE. RACE 5 Going to lean to the more consistent LAVONI in this race who meets a few who do struggle to win. She’s been good all prep & even her unplaced effort at Doomben two back was a solid one as she was last on the turn in a leader dominated affair yet clocked the quickest final 200m split of the race. CHARLIE’S CASE & PENTITO are more than capable of winning however their lowly winning strike rates suggest they are more likely to place. Numbers: 12 – 5 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet: LAVONI EACH-WAY. RACE 6 Have to be with STELLAR LADY who was a ‘good thing beaten’ first up at Ipswich when drawing an inside gate & having no room in the straight, she just couldn’t get a clear crack at her rivals & went to the line with plenty in the tank. Liked what MISS MONEYPENNY did here on debut, she burst through a gap in the straight to score at what was only her first start, kept fresh since she will derive plenty of benefit from the experience. The Gollan pair HELL AND BACK & LA PETITE MAISON can both figure in the placings, the latter has certainly had her chances to win of late. Numbers: 13 – 16 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet: STELLAR LADY TO WIN. RACE 7 Open race to wind up the night where I’ll lean to the locally trained KARIACTION. She’s a lightly raced mare who won 2 of her 3 starts at her initial prep & although yet to place from a couple of tries this time in she should be nearing her peak now & the step up in distance looks suitable. Morning line favourite RASHFORD has the stronger form lines however I’m not quite convinced about him at a strong 1800m, he does have the big weight to carry also. LIKA WRECKIN’ BALL as heavily backed to score on debut, he beat absolutely nothing however could only win & he did that, can’t knock winning form. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. Market Market
