Caulfield 6 February – Thoroughbreds Preview Posted on February 5, 2016February 5, 2016 | Posted by Deane Lester RACE 1 NO.5 TUFF HOST In form galloper TUFF HOST is aiming for his third win from four starts this campaign when he runs in the Ian Miller Handicap (2000m). The Brett Scott trained gelding had a long time off the racetrack due to injury but his comeback has been spectacular with a first-up win over 1200 metres at Mornington and his last start win over 1600 metres at Moonee Valley on January 23. He looks ready to step up in distance and has more upside than his rivals; sure to run well again. RACE 3 NO.8 PURE KARMA PURE KARMA is a lightly raced and progressive horse that looks the one to beat again when he contests the Mal Seccull Handicap (1600m). The four year old returned sharp sectionals in winning over 1500 metres at Geelong on January 23. He should now be at peak fitness following three runs back from a spell and a slight increase in distance is in his favour. Champion jockey Craig Williams retains the ride and PURE KARMA appears well placed to record his 4th win from just 7 starts to date. RACE 8 NO.7 GOLDEN SPIN The Manfred Stakes (1200m) is one of the feature races of the day and in-form sprinter GOLDEN SPIN represents the best bet of the day. The son of Medaglia D’oro has been in stunning form over summer winning three consecutive 1200 metres races, firstly at Moonee Valley before consecutive wins in good times at Caulfield. He has been freshened since his comprehensive win on January 9 and trialled very well at Flemington last week. Whilst many of his rivals have stronger credentials, their priority races are deeper into the autumn carnival whereas GOLDEN SPIN is at the peak of his form to continue on his winning way. Bet Now!
