Greg’s Belmont Best Bets Posted on August 24, 2016August 25, 2016 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 VANDALAGO is still a maiden after 11 starts however he has shown some promise including a last start fast finishing effort over 1700m. This race looks no stronger and he gets his chance for his maiden victory. CRAFTY RED has some ability. He’ll get a soft run and finish strongly. PADDY is the class dropper. MYSTIC DUST has a horrible strike rate but she was OK last week and Pike goes on. Numbers – 8 – 5 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – Vandalago and Crafty Red win RACE 2 The blinkers went on MASSACHUSETTS last start and it did the trick as she produced a dominant win. She’ll carry just 52kg after the claim for Tayla Stone. REGAL GLEAM is in terrific form. She’ll likely lead again and take plenty of catching. QUEEN OF CHOICE has some class. She’ll settle off the speed and work home strongly. SHE RULES ALL has had a five week break since her first-up win. The bar plate going on is a concern but this is per preferred distance. Numbers – 8 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – Massachusetts save Regal Gleam RACE 3 DEADLY SHOT was edged out by the smart Get Over It on debut. If he repeats that performance he should be breaking through. SAMOVARE comes from the same race. She raced a little flat but she’ll get a very soft run on the fence and can improve. MELTING POINT ran well in Saturday grade on debut. SWIFT PLATINUM won a weak race first-up at Pinjarra. Numbers – 2 – 10 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – Deadly Shot win RACE 4 COLETA produced a career best performance when resuming from a spell. She’ll tuck in just behind the speed from gate 2 and go very close again. TWO SILVER TREES toyed with them at Northam. This race has more depth but she appears the danger. BRACKETS just missed when resuming. ONADOWNTOWNTRAIN will lead and give a sight. Numbers – 8 – 7 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – Coleta save Two Silver Trees RACE 5 JEBEL MUSA should appreciate the drop back to 1000m. He was a strong first-up winner over the trip and then found the 1200m too far at his next two starts. He’s drawn to lead or box seat. REMEMBER BERLIN resumes on the back of an impressive trial win. If he can cross from his outside gate he goes close. APERCHOIX makes his local debut for the Durrant/Miller stable. TRIMEROUS next best. Numbers – 4 – 1 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – Jebel Musa win RACE 6 POLITICS looks a standout in this 1650m handicap. He was a strong winner over a mile at Northam at his last starts and his two prior efforts were good. He gets a perfect run from a good gate and should be too strong. TYCOON TARGET looks the danger. He’s battled on strongly after being posted wide at his last two starts. STARKLE is hard to catch but is always a place chance. STORMY GRACE can improve sharply. Numbers – 1 – 7 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – Politics win RACE 7 CARD KNIGHT should be primed at his third run back from a spell and Harvey sticks. ANOTHER MAORI BOY backs up from a courageous second last week. ALL SETTLED has claims if he gets some luck from his wide draw. FERMENTATION will get off the speed and find the line. Numbers – 3 – 2 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – Card Knight and Another Maori Boy QUADDIE RACE 4 – 4, 7, 8 RACE 5 – 1, 4, 5 RACE 6 – 1, 7 RACE 7 – 1, 2, 3, 6, 10 [button class=”bet-now” style=”btn-default btn-lg” type=”link” target=”false” title=”Bet Now” link=”https://www.tabtouch.com.au/racing/2016-08-24/pr” linkrel=””]
