Greg’s Belmont Preview Posted on June 10, 2016June 13, 2016 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 ELEGANT BLAST looks a highly promising filly. She did it in a breeze on debut and if she improves off that run she should make it back to back wins. OREGON BREEZE has run well at her last two starts. She has strong place claims again. BUSTER’S SHADOW came from the rear over 1400m and won well. He’ll get back and finish strongly again. HERRON POINT beat a weak field at Pinjarra but has place agains. Numbers –6 – 8 – 1 -2 Suggested Bet – Elegant Blast win RACE 2 TWO SILVER TREES smashed them up when resuming at Northam. She led and gave nothing else a sight. From gate 1 Paul Harvey will again try and find the front and if she repeats her fresh display she’ll take a stack of catching. PRIME WITNESS has drawn awkwardly so she may need to be ridden with a sit. She does appear the main danger. MYSTIC MAID and SOVEREIGN HALL excel over this trip. Numbers – 8 – 7 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – Two Silver Trees win RACE 3 Good tempo with a few noted leaders in the race. Think it will set it up nicely for the closing burst of RAGNAR’S SAGA. He came from almost impossible position on straightening first-up to post a big win. This is a rise in class however he gets in with only 54.5kg and the 1400m will suit. The stable mate KEY TO FAME appears the main danger. I suspect he’ll find the front and is the one to run down. GREAT SHOT is another who will settle handy to the speed and give a strong kick home. BATTLE TORQUE ran well first-up and was scratched from a very winnable race on Wednesday to be saved for this. Numbers – 7 – 2 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – Ragnar’s Saga save Key To Fame RACE 4 Very little speed in this race and for that reason going for PARIS OF TROY. He should lead on his ear and hopefully the blinkers can sharpen him up. SOCIALLY UNIQUE was a big first-up winner last preparation. He has trialed well for his return. ON TREND is a horse on the rise. He goes close to posting first Saturday win. EUROSUN will sit handy to the speed and be in the finish. Numbers – 3 – 4 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – Paris Of Troy RACE 5 Very competitive sprint. KING RIVER was a strong winner over 1200m last start. He drops back to 1000m which is a query however the big plus is the blinkers go on. He trialed super in them and it should sharpen him up even more. COOL PASSION was too classy last week. This is harder however the 54.5kg is a luxury weight for her. MALIBU STYLE never really hit his top last preparation. He can produce a big fresh run. BOURNE SUPREMACY improves by obtaining some cover in running. Numbers – 13 – 10 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – King River save Cool Passion RACE 6 MY MAGIC MISS beat a similar field last start. She rises 3kg however she should get a lovely run from gate 1 which offset the weight rise to a degree. ROMELO raced very flat second-up. The blinkers go on and he can repeat what he showed in his local debut he could just blow these away. THE FLIRT is racing well and has claims despite the weight and distance rise. SONNEN will settle on the speed and give a sight. Numbers – 4 – 5 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – My Magic Miss and Romelo RACE 7 WINK AND A NOD looks a standout in this year’s Hyperion Stakes. She returned in a blaze glory winning the Belmont Sprint. The rise to a mile shouldn’t pose a problem and she appears to have these covered. HAZZABEEL can improve. He was the eye-catcher in the Roma Cup before racing very flat second-up. From a better draw he can lead and give a big sight. BATTLE HERO pushed Wink And A Nod last start however he’s going to need some luck from the outside gate. PROCEEDWITHCAUTION produced a brilliant effort when winning last start with 61kg. He measures up this class. Numbers – 14 – 12 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – Wink And A Nod win RACE 8 Terrific finish to a good card of racing. Going for a minor boilover and selecting DEZZIE’S DREAM. She was a narrow but impressive winner first-up over 1000m then jumped to the 1400m and had excuses. From a better gate she should settle much closer and play a part at big odds. SHOWY CHLOE got the job done first-up over 1000m. The rise in trip should be ideal. SCALES OF JUSTICE is the class runner and is thrown in with 51kg. With normal racing luck he probably just wins. SPIN DA WHEELS ran well last start and has claims. Numbers – 12 – 10 – 16 – 11 Suggested Bet – Dezzie’s Dream and Showy Chloe QUADDIE RACE 5 – 3, 6, 10, 13 RACE 6 – 1, 4, 5, 9, 10, 11 RACE 7 – 5, 6, 8, 12, 14 RACE 8 – 2, 3, 10, 11, 12, 16 Bet Now
