Greg’s Saturday Ascot Best Bets Posted on October 14, 2016October 17, 2016 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 We start the new Ascot season with a juvenile race which in reality is guesswork. SEANNIE hails from the strong Simon Miller team. She was asked for little in her trial and if there is a betting move for her it should be respected. CLASSY MARCY is a well bred filly. She railed through nicely in her trial win and Pike rides. GOLDEN TRIGGER won his trial well. SHE LOVES TO TALK next best. Numbers – 8 – 3 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – SEANNIE WIN RACE 2 STAR EXHIBIT is a very class type who resumes with the benefit of an impressive trial win over 1450m. The small field will suit as he’ll sit out the back and use his big turn of foot to gobble these up. INFATHUATED was a big last start winner and appears the danger with Harvey retaining the mount. FLYING ROAR leads and controls. POUNAMU next best. Numbers – 3 – 2 – 11 – 1 Suggested Bet – STAR EXHIBIT WIN RACE 3 SAMOVARE impressed at her second career start when she settled close to the rear and let down with an explosive late finish to get there late. She returns from a 7 week let-up to tackle a 1400m race but Pike riding is a good lead as to her chances. VARIATION can box seat from gate 1 and is racing like the 1400m will suit. MINUS LOOKS has been very impressive in winning his two starts. ROYAL MISSILE has drawn an awkward gate which will likely mean she’ll settle off the speed which makes her task difficult. Numbers – 8 – 5 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – SAMOVARE WIN SuperPick - Race 3 No. 8 SAMOVARE - Profit Plus – 25% (Win) RACE 4 This is a wide open race. COME ON BOARD battled on strongly after being caught wide throughout in midweek grade. After the claim for Sarah Bonner he’ll carry only 51kg and has drawn to get the run of the race. FO’ SHIZZLE can lead or box seat. She’s been knocking on the door all campaign. JUENDIS is the best credentialed runner in the race. He just needs some luck from a wide gate. LOLONG won well first-up in a weak Northam maiden. Numbers – 8 – 2 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – COME ON BOARD EACH-WAY RACE 5 PROXY should appreciate the drop back 1800m. He just didn’t run out a strong 2200m at his last start. He’ll park behind the speed and finish strongly. I DONE IT is another who should appreciate the drop back in trip. MIDNIGHT BANQUET is a tough on speed stayer who will test a few of these a long way from home. STUDIO FIFTY FOUR is always a place chance at this level. Numbers – 2 – 3 – 8 – 12 Suggested Bet – PROXY WIN RACE 6 JESTAJINGLE finished powerfully first-up in midweek grade. She’ll get a lovely run from a good draw and if she can improve off that run she’ll take some beating. INVINCIBLE WARRIOR was a strong all-the-way winner on debut. He can find the front again and take some catching. WRINKLY has trialled well for his return. VIKING FORREST races well fresh. Numbers – 10 – 8 – 12 – 5 Suggested Bet – JESTAJINGLE AND INVINCIBLE WARRIOR RACE 7 This is a terrific edition of the Northerly Stakes with Bob Peters bringing back a couple of his stars to WA. Almost a bracket selection between a couple of them DISPOSITION and PERFECT REFLECTION. Just at the prices leaning to DISPOSITION who built up a terrific record in Victoria around this distance range. PERFECT REFLECTION is a star and her trials have indicated she is back to her best. WINK AND A NOD will get a much more economical run from gate 1. IDEAL IMAGE had little luck in the Birthday Stakes. Numbers – 4 – 3 – 6 – 10 Suggested Bet – DISPOSITION SAVE PERFECT REFLECTION RACE 8 The blinkers and Paul Harvey go onto COOL PASSION. She hasn’t had any luck in both runs this campaign. She’ll settle forward and be hard to run down. SILVERSTREAM flies fresh and if the sou-wester has rolled in by the end of the day she takes a stack of holding out. VOLKOFF flies at this circuit. GIGANTE can get a lovely run just behind the speed and has claims. Numbers – 5 – 8 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – COOL PASSION AND SILVERSTREAM Bet Now
