Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on October 27, 2026October 27, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry Race 1 ONE LAST RESORT is still a maiden, however, he has run to brilliant stablemate Beatty as a 2 year old, finished second to Saturday winning filly Cos I Am and at his return to racing pushed talented youngster Blue Destiny to half a length, in a race where they cleared out nearly 4L from Yamanex. Back in fifth was Capall Gasta who finished fifth in the Belgravia on the weekend – it’s clearly going to be a good form reference race. Fitter second-up, drawn to get the run of the race and gains the services of Cox Plate winning hoop William Pike. Will be popular. OFFICIAL BUSINESS won a 3 year old 0MWLY 1200 last start under 60kg. Same grade, same distance, same weight and should land in the first two. Logical danger. CHIXFROMTHESTICKS finds this lengths easier than Max Simmonds. FAST BREAK showed ability as a 2 year old. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – ONE LAST RESORT WIN Race 2 LACEY MARIE is going super. She ran third at Bunbury behind impressive debutante filly Flying In The Wind and then ran third behind Burgess Queen Stakes bound pair Profit Motive and Lady Torque in a high rating maiden last weekend. There’s no Profit Motives in this line-up and on the 7 day spin, drawn to box seat she looks a big winning chance and if we could sneak a bit of eachway early betting that would be great shopping. BIRDIEBIRDIE ran home well behind Flying Swagman and Snow Monkey in a fast run race over 1100m on debut. Certainly attacked the line like the extra 300m would help. ENCROACHING was really good last preparation and had trialled up alright, but went horrible fresh at Bunbury? BRODA covered the ground nicely in her most recent trial. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – LACEY MARIE EACHWAY Race 3 GENTLE TOUCH put the writing on the wall with a strong performance in the Listed Max Simmonds Stakes on Opening Day at Ascot. Second-up she drops in grade sharply back into a Class One and gains the services of an in form Chris Parnham. Simon Miller is fresh off a treble at Northam on Sunday and this filly looks nicely placed here to continue the good run. SHE’S A SPLINTER came wide on the track at Northam on a day where the fence was worth lengths. Thought all things considered she was a super run against the pattern and Metro Brown calls straight on Pike at his return from the East. ALGADON STORM ran out of her skin at her WA debut at 30-1. ARTIE’S STORM was a bizarrely strong betting move last start ($7 into $2.60). Numbers: 6 – 4 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – GENTLE TOUCH WIN Race 4 CONSIGNMENT and LEVATI DIMEZZO are both talented 3 year olds who hold nominations for some of the features over the Pinnacles. They’re both more than capable of winning C1 / C3 / Graduation races early in their careers and both look like getting the runs they require here to win this race. CONSIGNMENT returns as a gelding off the back of a strong 850m trial win at Belmont Park and was scratched from a winnable race on Sunday to save for this. Looks to have come back a bit sharper as a 3 year old. LEVATI DIMEZZO was luckless at his return. Again drawing barrier 1 probably isn’t ideal for a horse who wants room to move, but if he can step cleaner this time around it’ll help his chances big time. QUOKKA ROCKA is a 3 year old 0MWLY winner racing in a C1. Great use of the 3kg claim. EXCELINDEED looks a different horse for Tiarnna Noske. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – CONSIGNMENT WIN Race 5 (Best Bet) REGINETTA is 2 from 2 undefeated and should get a lovely run tracking up behind speedy gallopers Star Martini and King Brew. Just looks a little professional and expect she’ll be coming hard late. Don’t think coming back to 1000m will worry her and she’s jumping well enough to hold a spot. STAR MARTINI finally finds a race where she can lead uncontested. With only 55kg on her back she’ll be touch to run down. SIMPLY OUTRAGEOUS trialled super for a horse whose last win was at 1600m? Matched motors with highly talented 3 year old Godspeed over the concluding stages and he ran a ripper at Listed Level in a Belgravia on the weekend. HARBOUR RISE is a 2 year old Saturday winner resuming in a C3 midweek event. That will always grab the attention but she’s only had a 400m jump out and Pat Carbery nearly pulled the stick on her. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – REGINETTA WIN Race 6 EMPIRE OF ROME has been underestimated so far. Got under the guard and won impressively at 30-1 to break his maiden two back and then last start was $17 in early markets before jumping an $8 chance and finishing off as well as She’s A Splinter in the wrong part of the track. We’ll get a gauge on that form line in Race 3 and after nominating for 3 different races Team Gangemi have settled on this. LEETRON is going far better than it reads on paper. No luck since running third in a 0MWLY behind now 66+ placed galloper Champagne Crusader. Looks to have turned a corner. JACKPOT BINGO didn’t have a lot of room to move at stages in the straight first-up. SEVEN CANDLES has Saturday level ability but has hardly done any racing in the last 12 months. Numbers: 10 – 8 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – EMPIRE OF ROME EACHWAY Race 7 STRIDEAWAY hadn’t raced for over 500 days when resuming at Belmont on 26 September. She finished third behind a pair of subsequent winners in So Si God and Delzee and then second-up was afforded no luck when wide throughout. Third-up Neville Parnham reaches for a set of blinkers for the first time and if she can find a back to follow in the early stages then she should be finishing off powerfully late. SCULLY hasn’t seen a race of this nature for a long while. 8 of his 10 WA starts have been in higher grade and he finished within 3.5L of exciting 4 year old Rock Fest last start. BANNERED won back to back races at Pinjarra last prep and is a different horse when he can find the fence. Will he cross Saturday Sesh? WICKED VENOM is a hard horse to catch. Will go back to last and from there need luck. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – STRIDEAWAY EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,4,6 4,6,7 1,5,6,8,9,10 1,2,4
